worth watching - at the right time
tony-146-69562614 March 2022
A girl who lost herself... Due to a car accident she has lost a lot of her memories , herself.

It is not an action movie. Not a rousing movie night pick.

When you are sick of block buster hype, of binging squid games, this is worth a watch.

It is a movie for cozy times. For a cold winter night with older children and the wife, something to share.

The movie is extremely believable. I have two teenage daughters, and can relate. I have a son who has given me grand kids, and so can relate to the second sub plot as well.

I venture to say the older you are, the more meaning the movie has. But it is worth watching for teens as well. The movie is not a miracle cure, but it will show both young and old viewers that not giving up is key and trying to understand both sides really helps. Movie illustrates, with no preaching, that no one is perfect, and that it is ok.

The camera work is very good, the sound is great, the use of music at the right time very fitting. The acting is above average.

Think of the movie as taking a walking in a favorite park, with a brook running nearby. Won't be a thrilling walk, but will be good for the soul and the mind.

If you watch it let the movie play out. Just enjoy the walk.

Good for a Rainy Day

This movie has a very touching storyline albeit a little slow at times. The cinematography was very beautiful. I particularly enjoyed the use of the drone to show off the gorgeous landscape. It was very cool to see Rochester represented in such an amazing way. The plot was a bit hard to follow in the beginning and some of the dialogue left more to be desired but besides that it was very well written. I particularly enjoyed the performances from Ali and Ethan.

Amazing experience for coming-of-age people

I always say we always have to take a break from big budget movies and give low budget movies a chance. This movie is a perfect example of that.

This film has a very interesting story, maybe looking superficially you will find it cliché but looking deeply especially for those who are in coming of age will look from another perspective.

It's not a perfect movie but it's brilliant with a dedicated cast and a pretty spectacular score. It's really worth giving it a try.

Coming of age movie
endecottjofficial22 April 2022
The cast & crew did a great job, you can see that a lot of time and effort went in to the quality of the movie!

I think certain aspects of the story could have been shorter; to me it felt like a long movie. But other than that it was nice. It was a coming of age story focused on discovering yourself. It made me think of a Hallmark movie.

Not for everyone.
Keith-Constance8 March 2022
I happened to stumble upon this movie in my suggestions, and figured I would give it a watch, as I used to go to school at St. John Fisher in Rochester, where the film was shot.

This movie has some good cinematography and beautiful locations (I'm biased, I know) despite what looks like the low budget indie nature of it.

Besides that, the movie is really predictable and just doesn't really have anything of value to latch on to from the 'done a million times' themes to the complete lack of character development. It's specifically for 13-16 year old girls. It's like if the VSCO app decided to make a movie.

I made it through the whole movie so you don't have to.

A teenage girl who loses her memory in a car accident suspects she wasn't really happy with the "perfect" life she was living that she can no longer remember. The premise sounded interesting but the film itself was a dull letdown.

The movie is decently acted and directed - about Hallmark Channel quality - but after finishing it I felt I had just watched a better-than-awful vanity project. The script had too much dialog that didn't ring true and not enough humor or insights. It's dull and directionless and probably not he best use of your time.

really enjoyed this movie

I got caught up in the mystery of what the girl was going through. Had to find out if she regained her memory by the end of the movie or not. Liked the characters, they seemed real to what was going on and this is based on a true story.

10 stars if you like Boring movie
homeflash9 March 2022
No surprise, no thrill, no romance, no action, just boring...

It is not about the mystery of her. I found the rating more mystery than usual.

The whole movie is so boring that i thought there were some sort of surprise at the end.. but nope... not at all...

Not for me, but...
scott-pilgrim8914 March 2022
As someone who grew up in Rochester, it was very exciting to see certain locations, like Cobbs Hill, used as a pivotal symbol in the film. This film was also very beautifully shot. The acting was not bad, with very convincing roles from the lead as well as some of the supporting actors and actresses. Although this film had positives and provided entertainment, I would recommend it to a younger audience, maybe in the 12 to 15 age range. The story had an interesting concept, and it was quite moving. But, it seemed to have been done before, and wasn't quite reaching its potential, or living up to its name. The Mystery of Her; a name that should spark excitement, with a story that does not do the same. A young teenage girl loses her memory. There is an endless list of shocking truths that could have followed that concept, but I was sort of bored while watching it. I would, however, recommend this movie to my friends and family. It targets a certain audience, and I believe that audience would find it very enjoyable.

Perfect Story for an Imperfect Time
mike-518651 March 2022
This beautiful coming of age film is a perfect, but very real escape from everything happening in the world right now. You're taken on an emotional journey to "find" the main character and in the mean time, you may just find yourself different at the end than you were at the beginning.

Highly recommend for a date night or just a feel good movie.

This Movie Surpassed Expectations!!
zippy-539378 March 2022
While watching, I kept thinking what an amazing job was done with the different settings, props, and beautiful scenery shots. The movie held an intriguing and mysterious feel that kept me on the edge of my seat, and it was awesome to see young actors deliver truly great performances! This film held all the traditional aspects of a high school coming- of- age drama, but with several characters and relationships to keep you wondering. Enjoyed watching this on my night in, and I would totally recommend to friends!

Loved this movie!

We don't always get do-overs in life. One moment you can be on the top of your game and then with just a blink of an eye, it's all gone. The Mystery of Her takes you on an emotional journey of a young woman who is given the opportunity to have that second chance. After a devastating accident that compromises Ali's long term memory, she is forced to navigate the feelings of who she used to be while also uncovering who she really is. The Mystery of Her is a heartwarming tale of a young woman coming into her own amidst adversity. Not only is the main character very relatable but also someone who allows the audience to take a moment to reflect on what's important in their own life.

I would highly recommend this movie to anyone!

Truly Enjoyed This Movie
mtufano-5089730 March 2022
This is a fascinating movie about a young girl named Ali that loses her memory.

The movie brings you on a journey through her life and her poems and it becomes emotional when she figures out her friends didn't really know her well.

Her new friend Cameron becomes a trusted caring soul that brings her joy, fun and thoughtfulness. You can feel the connection between them.

This is a great movie that will take you on a quest of the unknown to a place of happiness and appreciation of a wonderful friendship. I truly enjoyed this movie.

Great story!
cmwpieters4 March 2022
The Mystery of Her is a moving story of a young teenager who suppresses her true feelings while growing into a young woman and realizes after a traumatic accident what actually makes her happy. I think a lot of us can relate as we navigate/d high school and the challenges of "fitting in". After recovering from a car accident, she realizes what she actually needs from life and what is most important to her. Definitely would recommend it!

Nice movie..
daveenadee10 April 2022
The story is not new. But it's still a nice movie. I see it as a hopeful story about being brave enough to fully be your true self. My favorite characters were Ali and Cameron, although it seemed like the actors were older than their roles (that could have been the writing). I like the way the movie explores Ali's efforts to find out who she is both before and after the accident. The pre-accident boyfriend storyline was a bit predictable, and it might have been more satisfying and enlightening to explore the friendships between Ali and her girlfriends instead. Loved the location shooting-its a pretty movie.

This Movie is a Treasure!
gmwalsh-5223611 April 2022
The Mystery of Her is a beautifully done film in so many ways. The cast is outstanding and engages the viewer. The film shows Rochester and the surrounding area at its best, including scenes inside the Memorial Art Gallery. I loved the music so much - it was beautiful and so appropriate for each scene. But most of all, the story has wide appeal not only for teenagers (who play the lead characters), but for anyone going through traumatic life experiences and seeking to find their true self and the person they seek to be. I will be recommending this film to others,

The movie had a sweet & sentimental storyline that was very genuine. Ali's journey of discovering who she was in the past & who she is now was interesting to watch unfold. The beautiful music & scenery added to the overall emotion of the movie. Would recommend!

Find the true you
dwsstutes6 April 2022
I thought all of the acting and filming was top notch. Some of the actors seemed a bit old for their parts. It was a little slow moving however the plot and concept were excellent. Not sure if teenagers are as mature in thinking as the movie depicted. Overall I did enjoy the movie and it's meaning.

Powerful storyline that everyone can relate to!
gabby-4898311 April 2022
This movie takes you on an emotional journey through a teen's life who is struggling to find out who she is meant to be. This is a perfect example that shows the hardships of growing up. Although the main character Ali was in a devastating car accident that led her to memory loss, we still see how she, as a teen is pushing through the difficulties that arise with becoming a mature young adult, something that everyone can relate to! On top of having a powerful storyline, the music in The Mystery of Her was made specifically for the movie, which makes it even more special. I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone, especially teens!!
