It’s been a strange last decade of acting for Aaron Eckhart. Everyone knows the actor as Harvey Dent from Christopher Nolan‘s 2008 blockbuster “The Dark Knight. But since then, Eckhart’s done mostly B-movies, actioners, and dramas that barely make waves at the box office. And for every hidden gem he’s done in recent years, like 2020’s “Wander,” there’s something like 2014’s “I, Frankenstein” that’s so abysmal one wonders why Eckhart signed on to make the pic.

So many great stories in history start out with the key players hating each other — as it is in Netflix and A24’s “Beef,” streaming on Netflix in April. Amy (Ali Wong) and Danny (Steven Yeun) meet via parking lot bump turned action-movie car chase, their lives connecting and their road rage lingering in weeks and months after the incident. In reviewing the series, IndieWire’s Ben Travers said that “’Beef’ does a fine job balancing Amy and Danny’s practical intelligence and impractical passions; their bitterness toward the other driver ebbs and flows as their personal lives better or worsen, and it’s in these moments that the half-hour drama thrives.”

“Smile” star Caitlin Stasey and Lou Taylor Pucci have joined the cast of Jonathan auf Der Heide’s upcoming horror-thriller film “Devil Inside.” They join the previously announced Ryan Kwanten.
Pitched as an elevated genre film in the vein of “28 Days Later” and “It Comes at Night,” the picture explores the ‘what if’ question of a cross-species contagion, in this case from a Tasmanian Devil, the last of the marsupial carnivores.
Stasey is fresh from Paramount’s 200 million-grossing hit “Smile” and is also known for her genre work on “I, Frankenstein” and “Tomorrow When the War Began.” Pucci won the Sundance Jury Prize and the Berlin Silver Bear for “Thumbsucker” and was star of the Sam Raimi-produced “Evile Dead” in 2013.
In the film, Stasey plays the role of Eva, a young virologist, who helps the local park ranger (Kwanten) research the Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumor Disease – a contagious...

Based on Butler’s 1979 novel, “Kindred” focuses on Dana James, a young Black aspiring writer living in Los Angeles with her husband Kevin Franklin. While in the process of moving, Dana abruptly finds herself tossed between the modern day and 1815 Maryland during the Antebellum period of the South. There's a long history of horror films causing public controversy that stems back to the early days of the genre, including the Universal classic monster movies. "Bride of Frankenstein" was subject to so much meddling from the Hays Office that it's a wonder the film was not only released but kept its reputation as a historically classic film from the era of pre-war horror.
Even before the release of "Bride of Frankenstein, the original "Frankenstein" film was under threat of censorship. Although "Frankenstein" was a pre-code feature released in 1930 before the code went into full effect in 1934, state censor...

This article contains some spoilers for Spider-man: No Way Home
Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon have just made one of the highest-grossing movies of all time! What are they going to do next? Well, the answer probably isn’t “Go to Disneyland,” because Disney has likely already brought their biggest money-makers to the happiest place on earth. But the talents behind 2021’s most popular movie Spider-Man: No Way Home certainly have a lot of good work ahead of them!
Tom Holland
Before swinging into Captain America: Civil War as Spider-Man, Tom Holland impressed viewers by playing Billy Elliot on stage and a teenager surviving a tsunami in J.A. Bayona’s The Impossible. Holland’s natural charm and youthful wit made him a pleasing screen presence. But as Peter Parker graduates high school and moves onto the real world, it’s clear that Holland is ready for more complex and adult roles.

Stuart Beattie.
Screenwriter/producer Stuart Beattie’s illustrious career is in overdrive, with multiple projects bubbling in the US, Australia and Germany.
Some 28 years after the Aussie moved to LA, he is cashing in on his hard-earned reputation and extensive network of creative contacts.
One Australian-based project is a biopic about speed skater Steven Bradbury, who overcame seemingly insurmountable odds to win Australia’s first ever Olympic Winter Games Gold Medal.
The other is Interceptor, an action thriller to be directed by LA-based Australian novelist Matthew Reilly.
His US-based slate includes Rain, a 10-part drama based on a series of books by Barry Eisler about the exploits of a Japanese-American contract killer named John Rain.
Beattie is writing the bible and pilot and executive producing for Bedrock Entertainment, a new production banner founded by director Daniel Sackheim and producer Tony To in partnership with ITV Studios America.

If you wanted a star-gazing episode from Ryan Murphy (or perhaps a different four-letter word to do with stars), then this is it. In one episode we get Vivien Leigh, Tallulah Bankhead, Alfred Hitchcock, Noel Coward, and some juicy gossip about Errol Flynn. So get ready to go to a George Cukor party!
Hollywood Episode 3
-The third episode begins to the sound of Ella Fitzgerald’s “I’m Beginning to See the Light.”
-Ernie reveals to the boys that they’re going to a George Cukor party. While I was aware that Cole Porter and, at this point, retired director James Whale enjoyed scandalous pool parties, I’d been under the impression that Cukor was more deeply in the closet, preferring urbane Saturday night parties with celebrities. Going into Avengers: Infinity War, fans were excited to see Robert Downey Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch share the screen as Iron Man and Doctor Strange. Not just for the fun of seeing the Armored Avenger and the Sorcerer Supreme trade quips, but also because both actors are known for playing Sherlock Holmes. It seemed like there was a strong likelihood of a “no sh*t, Sherlock” line slipping in somewhere.
As we know, though, no such line featured in the movie or its sequel, Avengers: Endgame. And Infinity War‘s writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus have now explained why. ComicBook.com hosted a viewing party of the film over the weekend, with the scribes taking over the outlet’s account for the evening to offer their comments. When one fan asked them if they’d considered working in a “Sherlock Holmes nod,” McFeely responded: “Too meta for us.”

The Mummy may have seen the Dark Universe fail spectacularly and implode entirely at the very first hurdle, but that doesn’t mean Universal are going to stop trying to reinvent their classic library of monsters for modern audiences. The studio is now focusing on a smaller-scale, more director-driven approach, which reaped huge benefits when Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man scored critical acclaim and earned over $125 million at the box office against a $7 million budget, a number that would have likely been much higher if it wasn’t for the Coronavirus.
There are already countless projects in the works, including Paul Feig’s Dark Army, Elizabeth Banks’ Invisible Woman and Dexter Fletcher’s Renfield that look set to bring the Universal Monsters back from the brink of obscurity, while it was also announced last month that Karyn Kusama would be the latest filmmaker to have a crack at making a Dracula movie.

While we wait for the world to calm down so James Wan can start production on his new take on the classic Universal Monster, “Frankenstein“, we can at least take solace in knowing that we don’t have to wait that long to see at least one adaptation of Mary Shelley‘s classic tale. In 2011, Oscar-winner Danny Boyle (“28 Days Later”) directed a stage adaptation starring both Johnny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch as Victor Frankenstein and his Creature, and now the whole thing will stream on YouTube for free!

Happy Friday, dear readers! While time might feel like a bit of a flat circle right now, the weekend is officially upon us once again, and I don’t know about you, but these days, movies are providing a very much-needed distraction. With that in mind, I thought I’d put together a list of horror and sci-fi movies that were released throughout the 1990s that you can currently stream for free on a variety of platforms like Vudu, Tubi TV, Crackle, Pluto TV, and IMDb TV.
I just figured we often spend a lot of time celebrating genre movies from the 1980s, so it was time to give the ’90s their due, and there are a lot of great movies from that era that you can currently watch for free via streaming.
Stay safe, stay healthy and happy streaming!

Author Frederik Pohl had a phrase he liked to use about the responsibility of sci-fi writers: Their job is to “predict not the automobile but the traffic jam.” It’s fair to say then that author, screenwriter, and director Alex Garland has obsessed over a lot of traffic jams in the past 20 years.
The scribe behind films like 28 Days Later and Sunshine, Garland made his directorial debut with Ex Machina, an unnervingly believable vision of a tech company CEO becoming a modern day Frankenstein. Now in his first limited television series, FX’s Devs, he returns to the quiet dread hatched on sunny Californian tech campuses, here embodied by the fictional Amaya. To say these are dark times is an understatement with a constant current of dread running through it. As I write this, countries are clamping down, flailing to stay ahead of an invisible boogeyman that could come for anyone, and as concern turns to fear, preventative measures are in place to slow the spread. Social distancing, quarantining, and cleaning like your mother-in-law is coming for a visit have become top priorities for people looking to stay alive while helping those that are most vulnerable. Since so many people are forced to be at home, they will naturally turn to creature comforts: activities that act as a security blanket when anxiety and depression become overwhelming. If you’re reading this, chances are you turn to horror.
Horror is certainly not a catch-all for most folks; there are many that will self-medicate to the sounds of Beethoven or Bad Religion, perhaps even both or somewhere in between.

Uma (Emma Roberts) wakes up in an unfamiliar room. It turns out to be a sort of rehab clinic, run by The Duchess (Milla Jovovich). It’s not specified why Uma has been sent here, but she’ll be kept for two months. Determined to escape and to take her roommates with her, Uma discovers disturbing truths about the facility.
According to the best estimate I can find, Paradise Hills cost roughly 6 million euros. Every last cent of it is up on screen. This is a film with a cast full of talented young women whose stars are on the rise, but the real stars of the show are costume designer Alberto Valcárcel and production designer Laia Colet.
We first see Emma Roberts’ Uma in blue lipstick with a headpiece over her face like a cage, as she sings a song at her wedding while dancers manoeuvre her extravagant dress beneath her.
