Well done tournament episode
Steve_Holt_2 January 2022
This episode is all tournament, but it was done well and a lot of fun. Probably not a lot of surprises, but that's ok as long as it's done well.

I felt like the right people won, and in the right manner. You didnt have three-week novices going to the last second against the best of the veterans, or anything stupid like that.

Great but why Carrie underwood
kamsmith-715432 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I hate her and it was so annoying and unnecessary still a good episode but I hated that part so much I skipped a bunch of it. Could have brought anyone else in and I would have been fine with it.

Finally the Tournament
kobedawson31 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode honestly flew by for me, I didn't know it was over until the trademark logo popped up at the end. The fights between Eli/Miguel, Kenny/Robbie and even Sam/Piper were all great and ended in ways that made the story even more interesting. Can't wait for the finale! I didn't have a problem with Carrie Underwood making an appearance or anything else. This was flawless in my honest opinion.

Great Episode
eaglefangs6 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I do like having two episodes dedicated to the All Valley. I love having the addition of weapons, skill, and boys vs boys/girls vs girls. The only thing I didn't care for was Carrie Underwood. Was hoping "You're the Best" would have been playing since it hasn't been featured in the series yet. Something referring to the 80s or had something to do with the franchise.

Last two episodes save this season
mattstevens15 January 2022
The last two episodes saved this season. For whatever reasons episodes 3 through 8 were cornball juvenile nonsense that simply did not work and became a chore to watch. Thank the Maker everything got back on track with this episode. After an out of place musical cameo things get moving and instead of doing it all by the book the writers give its characters true conflict, growth, choices to make and prices to pay. It's also quite thrilling during the tournament matches, even if you can guess some of what's going to happen. And naturally it ends on one hell of a great cliffhanger leading into the 10th episode, easily one of the best episodes of the entire series.

Awesome episode
umlaziking2 January 2022
Predictable yes...but it was still a good episode that was done well. I will give it a ten...in my own opinion this episode doesn't deserve a rating below a 7...ain't no way in hell when it's actually pretty good.

The Tournament
mycannonball13 January 2022
Most of this episode is the tournament, but it's much more than just a tournament as character development deepens and there are many emotional payoffs to earlier setups. The Carrie Underwood cameo was a bit weird. I'm here to watch Cobra Kai, not a cheesy Carrie Underwood performance/music video, but I won't let that dock my overall score. A fun, exciting episode. And the fight choreography was very good with excellent directing/camera work. The fighting just gets better as the seasons go on. Solid 10.

I hate music montages.
jonny393910 January 2022
Carrie freaking underwood are you kidding me she is the worst and it's such a gimmick hacks singer to do this BS montage sequence with. There was no need for her to be in this episode at all, she is on the same level as Hasselhoff.

I liked it!
mm-392 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
People take Cobra Kai to seriously! The series is comic book, and about on the same level as professional wrestling. This is WrestleMania. We learn that Johnny's son is a street survivalist and has a good heart. All Valley turns into a skills team competition. I like how the teams fights with different styles, and the all girls has an interesting and questionable match. Just like the old WWF. The injury defending champ has a ring wrestling moment. There is some funny matches and more serious matches. Directed and acted like a WrestleMania without the interviews. It's a win but a tainted win, but without a folding metal chair. LOL.

Moment of Truth
tinie_au12 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Exciting tournament atmosphere much helped by the great surprise performance by Carrie Underwood singing the montage song of the original film. I love the interspersing of the old Karate Kid film clips, and get quite misty eyed every time I see a Mr. Miyagi one. Season 4 went by quite quickly, hopefully next Season will have more than 10.

Carrie Underwood 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
cowboylove-7744410 April 2022
The only thing ever bad to come out of this series was tonight. Having Carrie Underwood not only perform, but destroy that classic song " The Moment of Truth".

She also stole from the episode which was so disappointing. We wanted to fast forward, but there were important things happening at the time.

If it wasn't for Carrie it would have had 10 stars.

Fine.
charliesquash9 January 2022
It was a fine episode but the Carrie Underwood Cameo sort of ruined it. They let her sing an entire song and turned a segment of the episode into a music video. Disappointing.

Don't do that again....
amojdeamini11 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Keep the tempo. Keep the 80s rock. Don't ever bring garbage like Carrie Underwood. It didn't belong. Especially in a montage with the fight scenes. So I'm forced to either pick the stupid generic benign singing or the fights.... come on man.

Horrible montage
moore-davidj1 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Whose idea was it to have Carrie Underwood sing the montage? Ruined the episode for me. Writing is getting sloppy too. The "skills" part of the tournament was boring too.

This show is running itself into the ground.
deadshyguy5 January 2022
Carey Underwood ruined it. It's not that I don't like her, it's that I don't like how they let her turn the episode into a damn music video. Not to mention the show is just feeling terrible by this point. This episode does not deserve 9.5. Any high raters gotta re-evaluate their usage of that 10th star.

Carrie?!
Calicodreamin2 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This has become so predictable, I could have written this tournament schedule myself. And bringing in Carrie Underwood, seriously what was that even about? The fight coordination was good.

Fight montage ruined the episode season and show for me
joshfromthetop16 January 2022
Karate kid and henceforth Cobra Kai exude 80's and nothing says that more then 80's rock and a fight montage.

Why they chose to have some pop fluff as the backtrack I will never know.....

Great Episode, Who did Carrie Underwood bribe?
herrbrett29 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Carrie Underwood was a MASSIVE MISTAKE. I love the show, but wow what a horrible move having her sing. I was thinking Johnny Lawrence was going to send her packing, but they actually let her sing a whole song? It should have been Axel or something.

The nostalgic surprise box is sold out
doctorsimulacro2 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The plot is not going anywhere, conflicts and sequences that we saw in the first three seasons are repeated. Performances have hit an all-time low. The character Terry Silver is forced, his hatred is unfounded. The appearance of Raymond (Stingray) is a desperate recourse to hold the viewer's attention.

This show has desecrated karate
eulogiorobles-6291020 February 2022
After 20 years of attending tournaments with one of my sons (who is a black belt by now), now I find myself learning one or two new things about karate:

  • All students are now black belts. After practicing just a few months. Right. Forget about all the years you need to reach that point.

  • competitors do not wear red (aka) or blue (ao) belts, the only two colors you see in competitions. Nope. Just black.

  • No age or weight categories. Nada. A skinny 12yr old using LENSES fight an opponent twice his size and weight. Suuure.

  • No protections. Mouth, head, knees, feet. Zilch.

  • Only 1 referee per fight. Forget about 1 observer on each corner of the tatami. Sure!

  • Of course, just 1 tatami. No parallel combats in different tatamis.

  • The atrocious guest singer is allowed to walk on the tatami using high heels. Of course!

  • Any participant under 18yrs old is allowed to hit his opponent causing as much damage as possible, without any reprimand or even disqualification from the judges and referee.

All of the above, while during all the series, a simple white belt student is able to perform martial arts moves that would make proud a 4th Dan master.

I have found myself enjoying the dialogs and personal situations, because when a scene goes into karate, it is an embarrasment.

Cobra Kai turned American Idol
TheFearmakers1 January 2022
This first of two episodes about the All-Valley is pretty bad since it all seems like a dance competition, plus the Special Guest Star who just happens to know there's a song from the original Karate Kid franchise (Survivor)...

Meta is one thing but these people are supposed to be characters, fictional...

It's one thing to have mentioned Bananarama since Daniel would have been a fan of the same band that played during the original film, but for him to sing Cruel Summer would be something else entirely.

Awful. Just awful!
lmchah27 March 2022
The Kreese/Silver characters are cartoonish. Horrible acting from both made this series take a nosedive this season. What's with Carrie Underwood? What an odd thing to have in the episode. The kids who trained under both sensei got the best training. If the adults could have put the past behind them, they could have strong teams.

The series started very strong. It's devolved into?

Let's hope it get back on track in season 5.

"The Show" Ruined This Episode
Thus could have been an amazing episode but they ruined it by making it a talent show. I'm not just talking about Carrie Underwood murdering a classic (but seriously, WTF?), but the announcer dude was even more over the top in this one than in the season one finale, and it just brings the whole thing down to ridiculous levels.

They made it like a game show... take your pick of which one because they're all the same.

That said, the fight choreography was pretty great for most of the fights. The characters all still behave like themselves and show a little development in the 2 part finale.

At the end of the day, the announcer and game show style completely ruined the experience for me.
