Continued momentum
benhore-4705311 January 2024
The willful ignorance of simpsons 'fans' in regards to the modern seasons is just wild. They call for quality and when the show delivers they refuse to accept it.

Season 34 started strongly with Habeas Tortoise and that momentum continues here.

First and foremost the opening couch gag is simply incredible, one of my favourites of the whole show.

The main story is focused on Marge and her newfound obsession with her Pedalon/Peloton bike that Homer gets for her birthday and her subsequent infatuation with her instructor.

This obsession is very in characher for our stay at home Marge and we get some cute Marge moments and alot of jokes about Peloton.. i mean Pedalon and its community.

I think this plot does well remaining light and breezy, Homer's jealousy is understandable but we know its not all too serious. The writers make the right choice not to slip into a larger Homer/Marge relationship strife which is unwarranted.

Lisa's B plot revolves around her being mistakenly called up to jury duty despite her protests, whilst her story is rather surface level, we do get alot of light bureaucratic and courtroom humour. And a 2nd successive feature of Gill.

Lisa's plot could be funnier or have more of a developed story, maybe having her interact with the trial and crime, as the episode title suggests. Nonetheless its a perfectly quick and easy B plot.

What carries this episode most is the jokes though, they are constant and most deliver well. The visual humour is great with Marge's jacked legs and especially Moe with his lightswitch, which got a proper laugh.

Overall I view this episode as an entertaining shaggy dog tail, keeping light and breezy and a great chill watch. Also Julie Kavner does really well here trying to channel the voice of Marge of old.

Where are the jokes?
natural46 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I did not laugh a single time while watching this episode. This show has become painfully unfunny, please cancel it already! So the plot can be summarized to Marge getting a new exercise bike and Homer getting jealous because Marge spends more time with her trainer than him.

The title of the episode (One Angry Lisa) doesn't even make sense since Lisa is barely shown and only part of the B plot. And the B plot has some terrible writing and doesn't even make sense.

The newer Simpsons episodes feel like AI generated: "Homer gets X thing" or "Marge does Y thing". It's like they are crossing over every possible thing that COULD happen in the Simpsons. This could be fine if the writing was good, but it really isn't. The plot was "Marge gets an exercise bike" and that's about it, nothing interesting happens in the entire episode. The episodes are painfully boring and unfunny. Where were the jokes? I didn't laugh once!

Marriage on the rocks?!
thadgordon363 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Wow! Once again the writers have gone back to the "troubled marriage" well. Sorry. That well has gone dry over a decade ago. I suppose that it was slightly different this time because it involved a riding instructor...wait it wasn't really different.

Homer has beaten up tougher people than Jesse. Bart's "big brother," random hobos, etc. Yeah, he usually resorts to cheap tactics, or having a layer of liquid protecting his brain, but he still wins.

It's beyond ridiculous that Lisa wasn't able to get out of jury duty. Yes, it's a cartoon and some disbelief must be suspended, but this is beyond that pale. She's obviously 8. B story over.

Judge Harm has had more than enough time on the show. She was bad the first time she showed up, and she's been worse each subsequent time. Also, why is Gil a lawyer? Yeah, suspension of disbelief, but again, ridiculous. How could he possibly become a lawyer suddenly? Is it because this is a court room which allows children to be jurors? Amazing writing....

The most trivial episode in the show's history
santifersan28 February 2023
The latest episode of The Simpsons, "One Angry Lisa," is unfortunately one of the most trivial in the show's history. The only potentially interesting aspect of the episode is Lisa's participation in a criminal trial jury, but it's incredible how this opportunity has been wasted. Instead, the episode focuses on a shallow storyline about Homer buying Marge a stationary bike and feeling jealous when she begins to bond with the personal trainer who comes with it.

The writing in this episode is lazy and unoriginal, relying on tired sitcom clichés such as the jealous husband and the overzealous exercise guru. The jokes fall flat, and the dialogue feels forced and predictable. It's a shame that such a promising concept was wasted on such a lackluster execution.

Overall, "One Angry Lisa" is a forgettable episode that fails to deliver on its potential. The subplot involving Marge's exercise routine is dull and uninteresting, and the trial jury storyline is given little attention or depth. This episode is a disappointment and not worth watching unless you're a diehard Simpsons fan who has to see every episode. In addition, it should be noted that while "One Angry Lisa" may be one of the most banal episodes in the show's history, it is at least not painful to watch, unlike some other less fortunate episodes.

Lisa does a thing and More marriage jokes
patanu9 April 2024
Dont fool by the title fo the episode, as deligated to a B plot that used for lame jokes and a plot that goes nowhere. While the main plot is another overused story of Marge and Homer having marital issues but this time Marge becomes addicted to her online exercise bike and homer becomes jealous of how close she is to her instructor.

The shows done this plot more then a few times, which is something the writers forgot about considering the show is on its 34 seasons. As a result both the A and B plot are duds. Both having barely tolerable jokes and making even the coherency of the plot seem senseless as if the people making the episode didn't know how to end either of the stories and was just going off the premise.

Its a forgettable episode, the kind that honestly really cements the fact this show has long since lost its touch.
