Interesting short
OhPapi30 December 2009
It's a great second short. The director took a little more time and thoughtfully composed his shots. There is some very interesting and consistent imagery/symbolism in this short. Definitely worth watching just for the cerebral stimulation. Lots of talent in this film can't wait to see what he will do when he has a much larger budget. The acting isn't bad. I question the director's casting choices, I think as the director matures as an artist I think his pool of actors will either get better or change. I like the twist ending, I won't give away the ending, but I wonder if I'm the only one caught by surprise in the end. It's a decent story. The editing artistry, I have to say is my favorite. Again as the artists involved evolve, I would like to think that their timing and choices would mature.

Growing and Maturing

Right along with the first film produced by Mattson - it was great! The only changes that have been completed are those that are done unknowingly over time when one grows and matures. Mattson has truly grown and matured and he shows this in this film. Only being his second film I believe he truly has begun to find his place in the industry and it is only up for him from here.

Mattson puts on a great story with such strong dialogue brought by his his lead characters that brings his piece to life. The lead actors had me completely convinced and continually guessing from one scene to the next with such smooth transitions.

This film had very appropriate use of music throughout the film and made everything that much more engaging. The main character made everything extremely personable and intriguing and the picture quality was amazing. Again the music and lighting completely pulled everything together and set the overall tone.

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone and I know everyone who watches this movie is going to be so amazed at the complexity of it though I just want to state how excited I was over the ending. I was completely caught off guard and loved every moment of it.

I am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the new movie coming out this year by Derek Braasch - 'Murder For Pleasure.' For I have seen the trailers and I think it might end up being my most favorite yet...

Your in for the ride of your life

"Lines" being Eric Mattson's second effort as a director brings forth in his film-making ride two strong characters. His writing allows the viewer to be anticipating each of there next moves every second on frame. Mattson is able to get the viewer in the backseat with this piece with his sharp camera work and tight screenplay.Mattson shows his strength as a film-making by grabbing his audience without gore, profanity, and nudity. His fresh take on storytelling is what most film need to get back too. Simple editing allows the flow of the film to seem seamless. Great original music helps open up the film and close the film. The cast of two work excellent off each other and don't give too much away killing the premise of what the movie is about. Check out Garett in a small part in Mattson's current project, "Murder for Pleasure". Check out "Lines" it's a ride we all have been waiting for.

Entertaining, Suspenful, Solid Short Film
nickstage91 February 2010
This is a great short film!

The acting is subtle, which works well with the dialogue driven plot. The shot selection, music, lighting and sound all seamlessly enhanced the story. These elements, along with an unexpected twist, will leave you wanting more from Eric Mattson, Derek Braasch and all who made this film the great final product that it is!

I found myself wondering what would happen next as the film grew in story, character and suspense. Now I am wondering what's next for Mattson?

I can't wait to find out.
