Superbly acted, but a very slow watch.

Ian and Emma return from their holiday after arguing on the plane about a jacket potato.

First episode done, and I'll be honest, I'm not one hundred percent sure what I thought about it, I didn't dislike it, the acting was too good for that, but I definitely wasn't gripped.

I like the way that it's trying to depict real life, TV dramas so often show events that will be er happen in a million years, I get that impression they the writer wanted to show a perfectly plausible, real life scenario.

The trouble was, it was so realistic, so normal, that at times it felt a little too slow. I'm not sure why, but I was reminded a little of Roger and Val have just got in from a few years back.

The chemistry between Bean and Walker was phenomenal, an acting masterclass from the pair, you will not see better.

Beautifully acted, but I'm a bit mixed, 6/10.

Mum before Marriage
DoctorStrabismus20 August 2022
Stefan Golaszewski wrote and directed 'Mum', a slow-paced series about ordinary suburban English folk doing ordinary suburban English stuff, but it was delightful, with plenty of touches of whimsical humour, and we loved it.

But with 'Marriage' he has so disastrously missed the mark, with the even slower pace very slowly revealing a foggy grey mess of seriously unhappy characters, not a glimmer of humour, and the normally brilliant Nicola Walker confined to trying so hard to make something, anything, out of the one and only pleasant role in the whole sad offering.

We were bored rigid, and couldn't wait for it to end, at which point we found ourselves with zero interest in any of these sad-act characters, except possibly Nicola Walker's.

We have no desire to watch any further episodes.
