After the average opener, the second part is very good!

Stevie has been found brutally murdered and the Police inform Graeme and Paula. Guy and Melissa have gone off for a break in a country cottage, the gang of friends descend on the Cottage to inform them of the sad news. Each discuss their alibis. Melissa turns on Guy after receiving a nasty note, which read 'who's been a naughty girl?.' The Police turn up the heat on Guy, and randomly Melissa's car is trashed. Guy heads of to wore torn Yugoslavia. Don cuts a rather sad figure lusting after Melissa, she naturally turns down his advances. Melissa returns home to find her house turned over, and a hat box with a gun and another note. Melissa is becoming haunted by her childhood adoption, but tells Paula some baby news. Melissa tells Don she's running away, and is entitled to half of something they've worked on together, and a scared Melissa arms herself.....

I thought Part 1 was rather average, but the second part is much better, it's actually very good. It is improved for the appearance of DCI Cameron, the legendary Bill Patterson. The production values have gone up a few notches, even the music is better. The episode has been less brash, great story development. It feels a little more linked to the book. Julie Walters is a little underused, somehow you don't even really notice her.

Still, Part two is very good, 8/10
