Full Series Review

I attempted to watch the series when it first aired on network television but due to its changing airtime - especially on Canadian networks, my viewing was sporadic at best. I was thrilled to find the series on Max (hbo) and binge watch the series at my leisure; between 6 to 10 episodes a day where the story and character development could truly be appreciated.

The music - which helps sets time and place were the bait that hooked me and kept me, eager and curious as to what the next episode would bring. The characters and their comradery - how it developed was both engaging and pleasing. Some of the subjects covered are emotive, timeless, and incredibly effective to the overall "real" feel of the show. Cold Case isn't just another procedural drama for it leaves its mark.

Cold Case just stays with you.

A GREAT EPISODE BUT DOESN'T Feel LIKE THE END
catfanatic88825 November 2019
While I am a big Cold Case fan, I was anticipating an exciting final episode to wrap things up for the characters and to have a bit of closure with a few stories that have been ongoing throughout the series to be resolved. Let's just say that I was disappointed in that area. Don't get me wrong. This episode had all of the elements that make Cold Case fantastic but it was a bit of a letdown to leave several important plot points dangling forever. Perhaps the writers didn't anticipate that the show was getting canceled that season. That's all I can think of. But if you try to watch this episode and think of it as. Standalone episode, you might enjoy it more.

Defacto series finale
tallgirltv29 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Another season was 50/50. The music rights were insanely expensive, and as ratings slipped, so did ad revenue. CBS offered to renew, sans music. EP's said no go. Knowing it was 50/50, this excellent ep was written so that it could serve as a finale if need be. So, while some storylines were left up in the air, the important ones were concluded. This was a solid and well rounded finale.

In the end, Lilly does right be her sister with a nice surprise. Valens and Jefferies each conclude their respective storylines in a nice way. I do believe this series would do very well in a reboot.

600 characters is a lot.

Closure
jotix1004 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
The second part of "Almost Paradise" brought back Christine, Lilly's estranged sister who appeared again in her life, out of nowhere. The relationship between the siblings is strained because of Christine's addiction to drugs. It is clear she is reaching out to the sister that has it all together; in a way, one's sympathies go to this lost woman, even though she is not showing any repentance, although it becomes clear at the end why Christine acted the way she did.

In the last installment, an old unsolved case has been haunting Will Jeffries ever since it happened some thirteen years earlier. The murder of Wanda Johnson was a strange one. She was a black girl that had it all going for her. She was the unfortunate victim for being at the wrong place, at the wrong time. It will take detective Jeffries' determination to find out the ones responsible for the murder. The two men that committed the crime got away without being punished, one of the guys had an excellent connection to the police and got away without punishment all throughout the years.

Jeannot Szwarc, a frequent collaborator of the program, directed the final installment. The two part series was written by Greg Plageman and Elwood Reid. All the regulars appear in the episode. Kathryn Morris, Danny Pino, John Finn, Jeremy Ratchford, Thom Barry and Traci Thoms, made us care about the weekly program that, sadly, will only exist in reruns. The guest cast does justice to Mr. Szwarc's direction.

A Great Series Finale To A Great Series.
heatnation-4864622 November 2022
Cold Case is my favourite show of all time.

The way they ended it was perfect. All the character storyline's were tied up nicely. All the characters got their justified ending. Very justified indeed.

Despite what most people commenting on here think, the ending was justified and warranted. Not one single storyline was left open or left you wondering what became of their character.

It's not a common practice in television when a show ends to tie up all characters storyline's. Yet Cold Case did an exceptional job at this task.

It's a shame the show didn't go longer, but it is what is.

Cold Case: Thank You.
