No idea

So this episode, the Christmas one and one in season 3 were removed for various reasons but main one being blackface. Racism is wrong, but a joke in a sketch show done with no offence intended shouldn't be edited out this world, I mean Tracey White faced many times but that's OK. It's one thing being nasty and rasist which is pathetic but going ott and not even being able to accept inoffensive jokes is a shame. I'd guess 99% wouldn't be offended yet we always pander to the 1%

Both "Live Show"s of this "30 Rock" episode are very entertaining to me
tavm16 October 2010
All right, I just watched both the East and West Coast versions of the live "30 Rock" that just aired last Thursday on NBC on Hulu.com as linked from tvguide.com. Both were funny enough that whatever creative flaws there were in the storyline itself or certain lines were recovered quickly in the whole thing. There were many changes in many lines that either made things better or at least a little different that I very much appreciated like the joke that "Flashback Liz" (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) did of Slumdog Millionaire in the EC one compared to the Disney's Aladdin one in the WC one. And how about the hilarious changes in both "commercials" for guest stars Chris Parnell and Jon Hamm. I think I've said enough so if you're a fan, just watch both versions of this live "30 Rock" featuring many SNLers, past and present, performing on home turf. Oh, and the rating above is for both versions.

The writers and crew really showed there muscles

In my opinion this was like watching a complex dance choreographed to near perfection. Kennith was brilliant as was the crews moving the sets and cameras, the timing was critical and they nailed it.

The episode it self and main cast were SNL pros as always making sure to cater to the camera, made for a interesting mix of SNL and sitcom, Overall i think they did a great job, was the best episode in a while and it wasn't because of the storyline, the Entire cast made it work, just wish it was longer.

Lets hope this causes some kinda spin offs on shows like law and order or CSI lol.

Tina Fey, what happened to you?
JamieClaye1 September 2023
Dear Ms. Fey,

Given the recent scrutiny surrounding specific controversial episodes of "30 Rock", there's been a significant push towards censoring or removing particular content deemed inappropriate. While it's essential to be sensitive to evolving societal values, it's also crucial to preserve the artistic integrity and audacious spirit of the show that has resonated with so many.

Rather than erasing these episodes or moments from history, a more balanced approach might be to include a disclaimer before each episode. This would inform viewers of potential content that some might find offensive, allowing them to make an informed choice about their viewing. By leading every episode with this disclaimer, you'd be recognizing the changing cultural landscape while also standing firm against the complete erasure of art.

"30 Rock" has always been a beacon of comedic genius due to its unapologetic irreverence. Implementing a disclaimer respects the audience's intelligence and choice, without surrendering to the sweeping waves of cancel culture. Your voice, humor, and perspective are invaluable in these times. We hope you'll consider this balanced approach.

Warm regards,

30 Rock Fans.

Beyond Funny

I had only seen this ep once and couldn't even remember it. Luckily Netflix treats NBC shows better than NBC's actual streaming service. And while this ep was removed completely from Peacock, Netflix has included it with the controversial scene removed. Even still, this is one of the funniest things I've seen, with a grear blend of the bizarre 30Rock and the best of SNL style, and makes for a super fun night. Weirdos whining about plot development don't get it at all: this show is an event, and totally worth every little trick and surprise, and even purposefully flat jokes and minor botched lines. Clever and hilarious.

Live Show (#5.4)

Warning: Spoilers
It is Liz's 40th birthday and nobody remembers it. Jack is going through some hard times trying not to drink in order to make his pregnant girlfriend happy. And Tracy with Jenna both make the team worried by wanting to do something crazy on stage.

The episode is totally original. Not because of the story lines but because of how it is presented. It is pretty much a usual sitcoms with laughter as well as SNL with many old characters and scenes reminding one of a sketch. I would not want 30 Rock to always be like that, but it was awesome to see the contrast!.

As well I loved to see Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Liz Lemon. Such a great and funny idea.

30 Rock West Coast

Warning: Spoilers
I saw the East Coast version awhile ago, and saw the West Coast version recently. I got the impression that the EC version had more direction, whereas the WC version was more a pantomine where we wondered in awe at the performers reciting their lines live. Still, very bold of 30 Rock to go live.

One star per laugh

This episode, unlike any other episode felt like it was written by an entirely different staff. The singular reason I watched was just in case there was any further plot development. So needless to say it was a terrible waste of time. Shame, because this is a fantastic show usually.
