Weak start to S5
tarascopablo25 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
First 3 seasons were pretty amazing and S4 started slow and kind of weird because of the additions of Jesse but ended pretty good with Vaughn getting finally caught.

This new season, however, starts with Michael as a civilian asset for the CIA, participating in missions overseas and developing his relationship with Fi, however a new characters are introduced out of nowhere and old characters are basically launched to the sides (Jesse and Sam for a bit).

To me, the whole success of the first seasons was the fact that the trio (Mike, Fi and Sam) had a fantastic dynamic and the cases were compelling. Now the dynamic seems completely unbalanced and the fact that Mike can now travel makes it a little less interesting, IMO.

I love this show...but what the heck?

I've been watching this show from the beginning. Its great. Great writing plots, characters, everything its been original and creative and fun. It combines everything great about acting and entertainment: action, romance, humor etc.

BUT FOR WHATEVER REASON THIS EPISODE, THE PREMIERE OF SEASON 5 IS THE WORST WRITING I've EVER SEEN ON THE SHOW.

It sounds like they brought in 40 somethings living in their basements writing fanfiction to take over the show. Nothing humorous, nothing interesting, nothing profound. Literally a high schooler could writer better than this.

I don't understand because this show is amazing it has amazing writers. They manage to juggle humor and useful information along with amazing twists and plot lines. So why does it now sound like a fanfiction soap???

It seems like Matt Nix either fired or hired the wrong people.
