Quotes

  • Tal-Rho : To what do I owe the honor?

Superman : I need to know something about the eradication process.

Tal-Rho : Oh. Did someone acquire an interest in Kryptonian science? A new hobby, perhaps?

Superman : When a consciousness is rejected by its host, can there be lingering effects?

    Tal-Rho : Such as?

Superman : Flashes of pain, feelings not your own, visions.

Tal-Rho : Sounds like a bad trip to me. What have you been up to this summer, Kal?

Superman : Just answer the question.

Tal-Rho : No need to be testy. I've not experienced any memories other than my own, and I'm fairly certain I had more Kryptonians inside my head than anyone. What about your son or the other yokels in Smallville? Of course, there is one way to know for sure. Take me to my fortress and let me run some tests.

Superman : [scoffing, he turns to leave]  I knew this was a waste of time.

Tal-Rho : Well, what are you afraid of, that I'll fly off? The solar flare John Irons used left me powerless.

[indicating his cell and the red lights surrounding it]

Tal-Rho : None of this is necessary. I'm no more energized by the sun than any other insufferable human.

Superman : Enjoy your solitude, Tal.

    Tal-Rho : Oh, I will.

    [switching to Kryptonian]

Tal-Rho : See you soon, brother.

  • Clark Kent : Good morning. How'd everybody sleep?

Natalie Irons : Well, it's, uh, nice to have a real bed, at least.

Clark Kent : You'll get used to the roosters.

Jordan Kent , Jonathan Kent : No, you won't.

  • Lois Lane : What exactly are you seeing in these visions?

Clark Kent : I'm not really sure. Destruction of some sort, rocks crumbling. It's like a... it's like a cave-in.

    Lois Lane : That's it?

Clark Kent : In this last one, I heard screaming.

Lois Lane : Did it sound like a planet being destroyed?

Clark Kent : You mean Krypton? Think these could be residual memories from Zod?

Lois Lane : If they are, we have a major problem. You're not the only one who had Kryptonian consciousness put inside them.

    Clark Kent : Jordan.

    Lois Lane : He's fine.

Clark Kent : Yeah, for now. We have to figure out what's causing it in case it starts to affect him, too. There's only one person that would know for sure.

  • Lois Lane : You're having visions?

Clark Kent : They started when I saved that sinking sub and then again during the earthquake.

Lois Lane : And you didn't tell me?

Clark Kent : You had other things to worry about.

John Henry : Maybe I should take the kids to school today.

Clark Kent : No, it's okay. I... I can do it.

John Henry : Please, no. You'd be doing me a favor. It's Nat's first day.

  • Lois Lane : [Clark returns from visiting Tal]  Hey, how did it go?

Clark Kent : He's not gonna be helpful. What about you?

Lois Lane : Nothing that makes sense yet.

John Henry : But I'm gonna help her see what we can find.

Clark Kent : [hearing trouble]  Can you call Coach Gaines, tell him I'm gonna be late?

Lois Lane : What about this morning?

Clark Kent : I'll be fine. I just... I got to go.

  • Clark Kent : Hey, is your mom still out?

    Jordan Kent : Guess so.

Clark Kent : Okay, when she gets back, just tell her I went to the Fortress.

Jordan Kent : I thought it didn't work anymore.

Clark Kent : Not mine, my, uh... my brother's.

Jordan Kent : Is this about this morning?

Clark Kent : I think Tal might be able to help me.

Jordan Kent : You're gonna break him out of prison?

Clark Kent : Your grandfather pulled some strings.

Jordan Kent : Y-You can't go there with him by yourself.

Clark Kent : He doesn't have any powers anymore.

Jordan Kent : Yeah, but it's still his Fortress. What if there's, like, booby traps or something?

    Clark Kent : Jordan.

Jordan Kent : Let me go with you. Just to watch your back. After this morning... I know what it's like to have those kind of attacks. I can help you. A-And besides, things with Sarah right now are not going so great anyway. I'd love to just kind of feel useful. Please, Dad. Let me be there for you.

  • Lt. Mitch Anderson : What happened out there? My team said you just passed out.

    Superman : I don't know.

Lt. Mitch Anderson : [meaning his science team in the room]  Well, they don't know, either. I'm not sure why we still have dedicated Kryptonian physicians on the payroll. It's virtually impossible to run any kind of diagnostic test on you. Look... I just have to be clear. If you're not gonna be part of the Threat Reduction Agency, you don't have free reign anymore. I can't have you interfering with our missions.

Superman : Mission? It's... a guy almost killed a bunch of innocent people.

Lt. Mitch Anderson : That guy? Phillip Karnowsky; drug runner, weapons dealer. Stole a large quantity of X-Kryptonite from the Schuster mines before we got Amertek in there. He's been making a fortune on the black market; one of many messes I inherited from Lane.

Superman : He was selling X-K?

Lt. Mitch Anderson : What can I say? Everybody wants superpowers. In any event, we handled it right after we saved you. Look, you don't want to be part of my team, okay, I get it. But it means that you're on your own. No more backup. So whatever is going on... I hope you figure it out and fast. Otherwise, right now you're more of a liability than a hero.

Superman : Anderson. One of the members on your team, Tag Harris, he's barely 18.

Lt. Mitch Anderson : Sure is fast, isn't he?

  • Clark Kent : [seeing Lois making breakfast]  Wow. How long have you been up?

    Lois Lane : A bit.

Jonathan Kent : You made all this?

    Lois Lane : Yeah.

Jordan Kent : Are those eggs over-medium or scrambled?

Lois Lane : A little bit of both.

  • Superman : Mother.

Lara Lor-Van : Look at you. This grown man towering before me.

    Jordan Kent : Dad?

Superman : Jordan, this is your grandmother Lara.

    Jordan Kent : Hi, Grandma.

Lara Lor-Van : And you are?

Tal-Rho : Of course you don't recognize your forgotten son.

  • Jordan Kent : You still have powers?

    Tal-Rho : You got me. I lied.

Superman : Tal, whatever you're planning...

Tal-Rho : You won't be able to stop.

[he blasts Clark backward with his heat vision]

    Jordan Kent : Stay back!

Tal-Rho : I think we've done this dance before, nephew.

Jordan Kent : [firing his own heat vision]  I said stay back.

  • Superman : [recovering from a vision attack]  Jordan.

[whooshing over and breaking him free of Tal's grip]

Superman : Don't you ever touch him!

Lara Lor-Van : [he throws punches at Tal]  Stop! Enough!

Superman : [letting Tal go]  Jordan?

    Jordan Kent : I'm fine. I'm fine.

Superman : This was a mistake. I never should have trusted you!

Lara Lor-Van : No, Kal. He was right to bring you here. I know what's wrong with you.

  • Lara Lor-Van : You used the Eradicator on the people of Earth? I never should have designed that machine.

Tal-Rho : We were so close, Mother.

Lara Lor-Van : My life's greatest regret left in the hands of a monster.

Tal-Rho : You left *me* in the hands of a monster!

    Superman : Easy, Tal.

Tal-Rho : Do you know what it was like living under that man's thumb, the pain he inflicted?

Lara Lor-Van : That was not my decision. I had no knowledge of your existence until it was too late.

Jordan Kent : You're his mother.

Lara Lor-Van : Genetically, yes. But I did not give birth to him. On Krypton, all children were engineered.

Tal-Rho : [glancing at Clark]  Except for one.

Lara Lor-Van : Tal, you must believe me. I tried reaching you, but the barriers they'd erected were insurmountable.

Tal-Rho : Oh, you stand here, pleading walls were too thick, gates were too high, when we both know the true obstacle was your own heart and love's absence within it.

Lara Lor-Van : That is not true. My love for you has always been real. And now fate has given us another opportunity.

Tal-Rho : Fate intervened long ago. You have but one son to care for now, and he's in need of his mother's help.

  • Superman : Tal, if you even think of trying anything...

Tal-Rho : Brother, your suspicions are without merit. I'm simply here to help. May I?

[retreiving a red crystal from its hiding place]

Tal-Rho : This is no trick, Kal. In fact, it's something far, far greater.

[inserting it into a crevice in the wall]

    Tal-Rho : It's a family reunion.

    [a hologram activates]

Lara Lor-Van : Kal-El, my son... is that you?

  • Lara Lor-Van : Tal-Rho? You were able to escape Krypton. Oh, thank the gods. Both my sons, alive and together.

    Superman : No, we're... we're not.

Lara Lor-Van : What is the meaning of this?

Jordan Kent : I'm guessing this is not the same grandma that helped you before.

Tal-Rho : This consciousness was uploaded before the destruction of Krypton and therefore remains untainted by your father.

Superman : Your actions tainted her perspective, not me.

Lara Lor-Van : My sons! I require an explanation.

Tal-Rho : I tried to resurrect the planet we lost. Unfortunately, humans proved to be ungrateful hosts.

  • Lara Lor-Van : What is the matter?

Superman : I've been having visions, and I believe they may be of the destruction of Krypton.

Tal-Rho : He also believes they're caused by the Eradicator.

Lara Lor-Van : Then I should be able to provide answers. Come.

  • Tal-Rho : Aren't you gonna thank me for reuniting you with your long-lost mother?

Superman : She could have been a mother to us both if you'd chosen a different path.

Tal-Rho : There is no choice in this life, only the illusion of such.

Superman : I think you're wrong. She believes there's still good in you.

Tal-Rho : And you, brother? Do you feel the same?

Superman : No. But I want to.

  • Lara Lor-Van : Your son... he reminds me of your father.

Superman : Father was so proud of him. Of both the boys.

Lara Lor-Van : You have no idea how happy that makes me.

Tal-Rho : [watching nearby with Jordan]  See how she favors him? Your father?

Jordan Kent : Well, yeah, he's not a genocidal sociopath who tried to destroy civilization.

Tal-Rho : And your mother... does she favor the weakling?

Jordan Kent : From what I hear, Jon's probably stronger than you now.

  • Lois Lane : Any luck finding out what was causing your visions?

Clark Kent : My mom said it was triggered by an invasive cosmological event. She called it "interdimensional kinesthesis."

John Henry : Nothing you just said sounds good.

Lois Lane : In layman's terms?

Clark Kent : Whatever's happening to me, some other being is causing it.

Lois Lane : How do we stop it?

Clark Kent : I still don't know. I-I can't see it. I-I've had five of these things. And they're only getting more and more violent. The last one at Tal's Fortress felt like I was being pulled in and out of a horror movie.

John Henry : [finding a seismology report]  Five times all within the past few days? And nothing before then?

Clark Kent : No, I felt fine until the submarine.

John Henry : Which was the day of the first earthquake. And based on Lois' seismology reports, there was a tremor before the quake we all felt, probably around the same time you were in Korea.

Lois Lane : You think they're connected? How many tremors have there been?

John Henry : Including the ones that I recorded today? Five. If your visions are linked to these earthquakes...

Lois Lane : And what your mom said is true...

Clark Kent : Then whatever's down there is what's causing this.

  • Lois Lane : Is Jordan okay?

Clark Kent : A little shook up, but he's fine. Never should've taken him there in the first place.

Lois Lane : I get why you did. His powers have been growing.

Clark Kent : I know, but it doesn't matter. He's too young to be put in those situations.

Lois Lane : Don't beat yourself up, Clark. There's no way you could have known your brother got his powers back.

John Henry : When did that happen, anyway?

Clark Kent : Best I can tell, he's been playing possum for months, just waiting for the right time.
