Beautiful and Painful
moralpollution16 October 2022
Finally we meet Claudia and I must say once more the show even enhances what the book gifted us. This version of Claudia is so relatable and painfully human in her suffering. I love the change in point of view for this episode. It made me wish for these three to simply be happy together despite knowing what's to come. The show continues to dazzle with its beautiful writing, award worthy acting, its music and setting, everything in short. Bailey Bass has taken on the role of Claudia with a force of nature and I cannot wait to see her portray the many different aspects of Claudia. Both Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid continue to be phenomenal. This world is so rich and carefully crafted and so clearly made with love for the source material. It truly is all I could have hoped for as a life long fan.

If being a teenager was hard, can't imagine being a teen for the rest of your vampiric life

Another sunday, another GREAT episode. Bailey is amazing as Claudia and embodies the chaos and insanity perfectly. I loved that this rendition made Claudia a teenager because that age is TERRIBLE, for the person who is a teen and for everyone else. This episode IS the definition of the calm before the storm and I loved seeing happy domestic scenes from her point of view and how she comes to terms with her new family but also the storm forming from her chaotic self as a hungry vampire. Again, aging her to 14 was a really good move because her feeling of never being capable of actually become a grown woman is more believeable and painful than younger renditions of Claudia.

Seeing Louis growing love for his undead family and him losing that closeness to his human family seen from Claudia's perspective is just amazing.

Claudia is a lot

Warning: Spoilers
I can't choose a favourite episode because I feel each new one gets better and better.

This episode has it all, from casual domestic comedy to existential horror. Bailey owned the whole episode, in so little time she delivered a lot of Claudia's faces and she was great in all of them.

I'm already feeling sad for what we know will happen to her, it'll tear us appart...

I liked that they decided to give us a teenage Claudia, with a small child we wouldn't have had half of these results (and personally I would feel awful for that child's trauma)

Sam and Jacob are great as always, but in this episode I loved the subtle change in their personalities, Louis being the nice dad who is cold and insensitive with their human family, Lestat is less the seductive prince from previous episodes and more a grumpy old man becoming a monster... because we are seeing them from Claudia's POV.

These actors are not only great, they are giving it all.

Thanks!

Collapse

A promising start to the series collapses with the introduction of Claudia... poorly cast. Actress should be a child not a teenager/adult cosplaying as a child Vampyre. Very unfortunate.

Such strange casting choice to use a young woman and the only reason must be the fear of a child actress aging out over seasons, because it couldnt be due to the controversial content.

If anything this...woman's poor performance only amplifies the brilliant of Kirsten Dunst performance in the film.

Sad to see a show that surprised me as far superior than it's trailers to already run out of steam.

And for all of these '10' reviews - please resist using this website and giving reviews. A '10' is the pinnacle of brilliance and should be used very rarely.

Was really enjoying the show until this episode

The first three episodes had been very good. Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid, and Eric Bergosian have all been great. The writing and production values have also been great. But the show made a serious mistake with the introduction of Claudia in this episode. She is an extremely annoying character and Bailey Blass is a terrible actress. Her performance is truly cringing. What were the producers thinking? I'll give the show another episode, but I'm afraid the Claudia character will not get any less annoying nor Bailey become any better actress. That's a shame because the show has been great up until now.
