The Sony Pictures sequel “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” made headlines as it rolled through a succession of Florida locations in late February and early March, with reports of crews “spark(ing) buzz” filming on the A1A Highway in Fort Lauderdale, fans catching a glimpse of stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in Brickell, and traffic tie-ups in Miami.
“If you look at the trailer, you’ll see anything that has to do with the beach is all us, with the stunt scene that they did on Ocean Drive in Fort Lauderdale,” boasts Sandy Lighterman, film commissioner for Broward County (Film Lauderdale) and president of Film Florida. “That was because we made it so easy for them.”

When it comes to Olympic-caliber track and field, every fraction of every second counts.
“It takes a special talent, both physically and mentally, to succeed in a world where your fate is decided in just 10 seconds,” World Athletics president Sebastian Coe told Netflix last year.
Sprint, the upcoming docuseries by the team behind Drive to Survive, covers every millisecond of the long journey from the 2023 World Championships to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Athletes Sha’Carri Richardson, Noah Lyles, and Shericka Jackson will be featured alongside other runners from the US, Jamaica, the UK, Ivory Coast, Kenya, and Italy.
Executive produced by Paul Martin, James Gay-Rees, and Warren Smith at Box to Box Films in association with the Olympic Channel, Sprint Season 1 takes off ahead of the starting gun in Paris this July.

Universal Pictures Content Group and Passion Pictures have wrapped on a new documentary about the nun who inspired 1995 Oscar-winning hit “Dead Man Walking,” Variety can exclusively confirm.
Titled “Rebel Nun,” the doc follows the story of Catholic nun and leading death penalty abolitionist Sister Helen Prejean. Susan Sarandaon won her first and only Oscar playing Prejean in “Dead Man Walking,” which was written and directed by Tim Robbins and co-starred Sean Penn as a convicted murderer.
“Rebel Nun” will explore Sister Helen’s life to date and her ongoing fight against the death penalty.
“Sister Helen Prejean was a humble nun from Louisiana who embarked on a controversial battle that would change the world,” reads the logline. “Now 84 years old, Sister Helen is currently fighting to stop the execution of a Death Row inmate in Oklahoma even lawmakers are convinced is innocent.”

New data from Ampere Analysis demonstrates which sports could make viable acquisition targets for Netflix going forward.
Netflix has kept its messaging on the addition of more sports rights incredibly consistent throughout the years. Company officials have repeatedly denied that Netflix wants to be a sports streaming platform, but its forays into the field seem to bely those denials to a certain degree. Earlier this year, the world’s largest streamer closed a deal to become the host of “WWE Raw” starting in 2025, and recently announced a live boxing card headlined by Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. Those deals could set the table for Netflix to go after other sports rights in the future and new data released by Ampere Analysis is helping to quantify which sports might be best for Netflix to pursue going forward, and why.

Call of Duty is one of the most popular first-person shooter franchises in the current scenario. While many Call of Duty veterans may argue that the franchise is only a shadow of what it was earlier, it is no surprise that the series still attracts tonnes of players.
Ghost Recon is also a top-rated franchise that has been incredibly popular. The series is also one of Ubisoft’s most popular ones ever to come out. While the recent titles were tactical shooters played from a third-person perspective, there are reports that the next title in the series will revert to the first-person perspective, like Activision’s CoD series.

It seems like Ubisoft has been inspired by Call of Duty. Several sources have reported on Ubisoft’s new Ghost Recon project, which makes the franchise go back to a first-person shooter perspective while maintaining the tactical elements. According to the sources, it will be set in an invented country with war crimes and conflicts.
Apparently, Ubisoft is looking to get controversial and wants a mission like “No Russian” from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The reports are aiming that this Ghost Recon will have a mission with a baby in the center of it, which will be a hard choice for a soldier.

Following his appearance at The Netflix Slam, Carlos Alcaraz is expanding his relationship with the streamer.
Alcaraz, who bested Rafael Nadal in the live tennis tournament that aired earlier this month, is the subject of an eponymous docuseries about the 2024 tennis season.
It comes after the Spaniard, who just reached the quarter finals of Indian Wells, created buzz that he was involved further with Netflix after writing Tudum – Netflix’s catchphrase – on a camera after his victory against Fábián Marozsán in the round of 16 at the BNP Paribas Open.
The docuseries comes after it emerged that Netflix had canceled its last tennis docuseries, Break Point, after two seasons.
Filming for Alcaraz started during The Netflix Slam and the series will look at his career on and off the court over the 2024 season.
It will be produced by Spanish production company Morena Films, which is behind Netflix’s upcoming soccer docuseries La Liga.

Ubisoft dearly wants to send the next Ghost Recon game to a path of success, at least that is what a recent leaks suggest. The latest game in the series wasn’t a disaster but it wasn’t a critical success either. Breakpoint was released in 2019 which failed to meet the company’s sales expectations, making it a commercial disappointment.
Though Jon Bernthal was hired to make the game more lively as the team felt a need to include a charismatic villain, the game failed despite the addition of the Fury actor. The story picks up the narrative following the events of Future Soldier and Nomad returns as the lead character from the previous game.

While Drive to Survive has sped to a successful six seasons on the Netflix platform and been given credit for a surge in interest in motor racing, particular in the US, the same production team has stumbled to a halt with the tennis world, and now The Times of London reports that documentary series Break Point has been cancelled after just two seasons, citing poor ratings and lack of access to the sport’s leading figures.
Everything looked hopeful when the series was first announced by Netflix in January 2022, hot on the heels of the ratings blockbuster Drive to Survive. Nick Kyrgios and Coco Gauff were two of the stars featured in the first season of Break Point, and tennis governing bodies united to help bring the sport to screen. In March 2023, the series was renewed for a second season that was released in January 2024.

As the world’s largest streamer prepares to host a boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, its live sports strategy is becoming clear.
The rumors are true! Netflix is gearing up to offer its next live sporting event: a boxing match between YouTube star Jake Paul and former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. The fight is coming to Netflix on July 20, and it’s just the latest example of the streamer’s emerging strategy of using live sports events to promote its on-demand content.
All of Netflix’s live sports offerings thus far have been related to an on-demand title on the streamer in some way. The streamer has been connected to Formula 1 racing in the past, and has also reportedly shown interest in acquiring its own sports league. Paramount CEO Bob Bakish recently estimated that 90% of the people who come to his streamer to watch sports spend most...

Last year, Netflix's tennis documentary Break Point offered both fun and frustration to fans who were eager to see the sport's young talent introduced to a broader audience. Following closely along with players like Ons Jabeur, Frances Tiafoe, and Iga Swiatek as they ascended to the upper echelons of pro tennis was illuminating, but the year-long lag between filming and airing held the show back from being a true and vital companion to the ongoing tennis season.

The first season of Break Point revealed a behind-the-scenes look at the Atp and Wta stars competing in all four Grand Slam tournaments and was filmed during the 2022 season. It was subsequently released intermittently in 2023.
The first five episodes premiered on January 13th, 2023, and the second part, also with five episodes, came out towards the end of June 2023, at the same time when Netflix's viewership statistics had been compiled for analysis.

January last year not only brought us a lot of tennis in Australia but also brought us the first season of Break Point, the Netflix tennis docu-series, which will air its second season in the coming weeks.
It was certainly an interesting watch for those who don't follow tennis as much, but as many pointed out, the first season of Break Point didn't show much of what die-hard tennis fans didn't know.
Sure, we saw how it looked from the inside, but it wasn't that revelatory. Despite all that, the series proved a success which is why it will be returning for a second season.
The first glimpse of the new season was posted by Netflix on social media, and it received some interesting responses. Fans were excited to see some newcomers such as Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune, who are the future of tennis.

The 2023-2024 primetime television season looked nothing like previous years, with reruns, unscripted shows, and international imports populating broadcast networks’ lineups. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, though undeniably justified, took quite a toll on all the networks. Fortunately, the strikes have been settled, production has begun on nearly every new and returning series, and the midseason January lineup hints that things are slowly returning to normal.
Here’s a look at the shows scheduled to launch their new season – or series – premieres in January 2024. NBC’s Chicago shows – Chicago Fire, Med, and P.D. – will kick off new seasons on January 17th, with the Law & Order franchises returning on January 18th. Nick Kyrgios doesn't owe anybody anything, according to himself, as he dismissed Boris Becker's claims about owing his position to those who came before him.
For the past few days, Nick Kyrgios and Boris Becker have been trading blows on social media after initial comments by Kyrgios didn't sit well with Becker. To start, the Australian compared eras in an interview, claiming how today's players, to whom he belongs, are better than past legends.
One of the older players he mentioned was Becker, who would struggle in today's tennis per Kyrgios, which is likely true, but it's a very nuanced take that has the least amount to do with the talent of the legendary German.

Iga Swiatek has been praised for her mental focus by many including the king of mental focus, Novak Djokovic, and credit goes to her psychologist.
Swiatek wasn't always known as a mental powerhouse, quite the opposite really. She was known to get overwhelmed by the moment or pressure, which isn't good if you're shooting at the top like she was. It needed to change, and she hired a sports psychologist to help her tackle that.
It workd as she was able to transform herself into a mental powerhouse that is able to overcome some pretty tough things. Take the Roland Garros final earlier this year. She was down a break against Karolina Muchova in the final set btu rallied to win the match. Performances like those earned her the praise of Novak Djokovic and others, and according to Swiatek, it wouldn't have happened with her psychologist.

Nick Kyrgios has created an OnlyFans profile, and he explained why he has it, as it was a move that surprised many of his fans.
OnlyFans has been conceived as a pretty interesting platform allowing anybody to connect with their fans. The platform pretty quickly devolved into an adult entertainment app, where the majority of content was of that nature.
Not all of it is adult entertainment, though, as there are other people like musicians, painters, and similar stuff. As of recently, Nick Kyrgios is also an OnlyFans creator.
The reason why he joined, though, wasn't initially known, but he let it be known pretty quickly. In Kyrgios's mind, joining the platform is a no-brainer as he believes that they are revolutionizing social media.
He also signed a deal with the company so he might have gotten some 'incentive' to sign as well.

Iga Swiatek addressed concern about her relationship with her psychologist, who was under fire earlier this year.
The relationship between Daria Abramowicz and Swiatek was under the microscope after an episode of Break Point showed a weird interaction between the two. It came off as if the psychologist was being kind of controlling, which a lot of people didn't really like.
It created a lot of controversy back then, which was addressed and explained by 'cutting'. The scene was cut in a way to create controversy, while in reality, there wasn't anything spectacular there.
It wouldn't be the only time as another thing created controversy. Well, the player spoke about it now, claiming that the criticism was unfounded.
These people know nothing about me or my life. They don't know how I function and what I struggle with. Our conversations never went beyond ‘hello'.Honestly, sometimes I don't know what purpose such opinions serve,...

As tennis fans anticipate the release of Season 2 of Netflix's tennis docuseries Break Point next year, the production team is already setting sight for a follow-up season.
But according to Craig Shapiro, production works for Season 3 have stalled for what he called a "lack of cooperation" from some of the top stars in the sport, notably Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Coco Gauff, whose absences have been prevalent in the show thus far.
Season 1 of Break Point was released this year, in two parts, each consisting of five episodes, and gives viewers an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at life on the Atp and Wta tours. It gets up close and personal with the players all year, showcasing the next wave of talent in the sport.
"Being told Break Point is tracking to be all done after this season airs. Lack of cooperation from Novak Rafa and Coco in particular has kneecapped the series.

Netflix won’t be live-streaming any Formula 1 races, pro tennis tournaments or PGA Tour events anytime soon. But the company does plan to continue leaning into the niche it has carved out with sports-related documentaries like Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Break Point and Full Swing.
“We are in the sports business, but we’re in the part that we bring the most value to, which is the drama of sport,” Netflix co-ceo Ted Sarandos said Wednesday during the company’s third-quarter earnings chat. Citing the shows above as well as Quarterback and the recently released Beckham — which has been the top English-language series on the streamer the past two weeks — Sarandos added, “We’re having a big impact on sports through the thing we’re most great at, which is the drama.”

Live sports are at the center of the next wave of streaming evolution as live TV streaming services rely on them to attract and retain subscribers and subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) platforms — like Max, Paramount+, and Peacock — are beefing up their exclusive sports content to round out their offerings. While Netflix has thus far avoided wading too deeply into the exorbitantly priced bidding wars for live sports, the world’s largest streamer will officially enter the world of live sports streaming in its own unique Netflix way.
Netflix will broadcast its first live sporting event — the Netflix Cup — in November. The special will feature stars from its Formula 1 and PGA Tour docuseries competing in a golf tournament. Iga Swiatek 's psychologist is once again in the headlines as fans are accusing her of not caring about what happens on the court when her player competes.
Daria Abramowicz is not particularly liked among tennis fans, even though Iga Swiatek described her as an integral part of the team . The Polish player indeed transformed herself into a really strong player once she started working with a sports psychologist, so it's hard to deny the positive impact she had.
Even so, ever since a specific scene from the Break Point Netflix show emerged , fans have been outraged by Abramowicz. Swiatek defended her psychologist, then explained that the clip was cut to make it more dramatic , which might be, but it was still odd.
In any case, the duo are still going strong as Abramowicz was with Swiatek at the 2023 Japan Open in Tokyo for the Polish player's return to the Wta Tour,...

Box to Box, the production company behind Netflix’s Formula 1: Drive To Survive, has cornered the sports docuseries market with its breakout docuseries and similar projects in the world of golf, tennis, cycling and rugby.
The company, founded by Amy and Senna producer James Gay-Rees and Paul Martin, who produced HBO’s Maradona, has also made a number of music documentaries including Apple’s 1971: The Year That Music Changed Everything.
But it has also been dabbling in new areas including corporate true-crime series with Apple’s Wanted: The Escape of Carlos Ghosn and is looking at other weird and wonderful stories for its documentary slate as well as a new push into scripted and a potential investment drive.
“We looked at sport as an area, particularly in the premium space, that felt underserved,” Martin told Deadline. “You had ESPN, which did 30 for 30 and HBO doing Hard Knocks once a year.

The 2023 US Open was a fabulous Grand Slam tournament, and it was actually the most attended one ever, as revealed by the event itself.
This year's edition being the most attended ever makes sense because a couple of things happened that contributed to that. Obviously, tennis, like many other sports is becoming more popular especially after they showed off the sport in Netflix's Break Point.
Another thing was the run of Coco Gauff, which finished with her being crowned the champion . Having an American champion at the US Open is a dream scenario for everybody involved, and Gauff made it happen this time around.
All of that contributed to some of the records at this year's US Open so let's go over what happened. The event was visited by over 950,000 people over its duration which is the most for any Grand Slam. The official number of visitors was 957,387, which...

Details have emerged that Aryna Sabalenka 's fury in the aftermath of the 2023 US Open final defeat was part of the tennis docuseries Break Point.

The short clip shown on TV and circulating online generated widespread controversy, with the tournament coming under immense criticism for releasing what ought to have been a private moment for the beaten finalist.

Trash-talking in tennis appears to have generated a buzz among players in recent months, but it has been a topic that continues to divide opinion.
Lately, Taylor Fritz and Aryna Sabalenka who feature in Part 2 of the tennis docuseries Break Point that aired on Netflix, were reunited as they reflected on the latest show and gave their thoughts on whether they see it fit to have trash talk being part and parcel of a tennis match.
Some tennis players have voiced their support for trash-talking as long as it isn't personal. Coco Gauff liked the idea and she thinks it would bring more fans on board. While doubles partner Jessica Pegula reckons it is already happening on the Atp Tour, and can't understand why it gets too personal with the women.

Iga Swiatek recently spoke about Netflix's Break Point, which caused outrage among tennis fans a few months ago.
Swiatek took part in the Break Point and recently admitted to only watching one episode . It was a nice experience for her, but she also revealed that she's not really comfortable having cameras around all the time.
She further echoed those statements after her win over Marketa Vondrousova at the 2023 Cincinnati Masters , talking about the way a scene from the show was edited, making it seem like she and her psychologist clashed over a haircut. The situation created outrage among fans a few months ago, but the world no. 1 on the Wta Tour cleared the air.
There were some things that I thought they edited it, and people kind of misunderstood sometimes few situations in the episode. Well, we already be done a little bit differently.

Iga Swiatek was part of Netflix’s Break Point, but she didn't really watch it, revealing at the 2023 Cincinnati Masters why that is.
As the number one player in the world of the women's side of the sport , Netflix contacted Swiatek about being part of Break Point. She agreed to do it but hasn't really watched the TV show since it came out. After winning over Collins , she was asked about it in Cincinnati and admitted to only watching one episode.
There is a very simple reason. She's not used to seeing herself on a big screen and wasn't entirely comfortable with the camera being present all the time. She thinks the TV show is good for tennis, but she might not be the right person to take part.
I only watched my episode. Sorry. No, like, it was kind of weird watching myself on this big TV show. But,...

Taylor Fritz was part of the first season of Netflix's Break Point, which followed the American during a couple of solid runs.
The American has been one of the players that benefited from the exposure as it raised his social media profile, among other things. He's also getting more recognized by fans in the United States, which he should because he's the highest-ranked player on the Atp Tour in the country, ranked number 9th overall right now.
Besides elevating his own profile, Fritz is of the opinion that it increased the popularity of tennis . He spoke about it at the 2023 Citi Open in Washington, noting that he's seen the impact of the show on his own profile and more generally.
I think that it's helped grow the fan base. I think, you know, there has been times, more so when I'm in the U.S., where I'm definitely not...

Nick Kyrgios is one of the most prominent faces in Australian sports, as he was confirmed as the second most famous athlete in the country.
Kyrgios is pretty well known in tennis circles around the world and even in mainstream media, thanks to his rather prominent media footprint over the course of his career. Plenty of scandals and shocking moves on the court certainly aid in that, even though he dislikes that image of himself .
The Australian certainly never shied from being authentic which is one way to create a dedicated following among fans though as a tennis-loving nation, Australia is always prone to being more familiar with a tennis player compared to some other sports.
He's not the only tennis player on the list as Ashleigh Barty is number eight. Kyrgios himself is number two only behind Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo who has a decent lead over Kyrgios...

Newly released Netflix docuseries “Quarterback” takes viewers on an inside look at the lives of some of the league’s most-watched players’ off the gridiron. It’s the latest example of what co-ceo Ted Sarandos called “sports-adjacent” programming on Wednesday’s earnings call, and this one scored big.
Initial viewership of the series proved that football still reigns as an American favorite, and Netflix might not need to pay up for expensive broadcasting rights to profit from the national obsession. A total of 1.1 million households tuned into the premiere episode of the series in its first five days released, according to the latest Wrap Report for the week of July 10-16.

Mirra Andreeva is in the second week of Wimbledon after stunning compatriot Anastasia Potapova in the 3rd round.
Andreeva has been playing lights out at this year's Wimbledon. She made it through the qualifiers without many issues making her main draw Wimbledon debut. It's been a spectacular one so far as the Russian won three matches in the main draw by now earning herself a spot in the 4th round and second week of the event.
That's a rather significant achievement for Andreeva who equalled something another player from her country did twenty years ago. Back in 2003, a teenage Maria Sharapova booked a spot in the 4th round of Wimbledon by winning the third-round match in straight sets. Since then no younger player managed to do that specifically as Andreeva became the youngest since then.
The Russian is now only the 2nd player under the age of 17 to book a...

Novak Djokovic is not part of Netflix's Break Point because the Serbian is working on his own documentary, one that gets delayed all the time.
Sports documentaries are not a new thing, we have seen many over the years. It's become something that's more and more common as legendary athletes try to immortalize their stories in film on top of doing it in record books.
We've seen it in tennis and on the Atp Tour as well with Andy Murray and his documentary a few years ago. The Brit was actually quite annoyed with Break Point after seeing how much access they've been given compared to when he did his. His one was severely restricted as he couldn't show everything that he wanted.
Djokovic took matters into his own hands to produce his own documentary too and while it was scheduled to be out by now (late 2022 initially), it got postponed,...
