I'm not a fan of either.

After watching this documentary I can tell you that: To me both are mental cripples who air the family's laundry.

Gasoline met fire.

This document is only good for one reason to show our children: What it's like to live in a co-abusive relationship.

They could have been good together but they brought out the worst in each other.

What is also very important is what kind of childhood one had... unfortunately here, it is terrible for both.

Hopefully, both of them will find peace and happiness, because living like this... well, this is the real punishment.

Ps.

Happy that they don't have children, we can only imagine what would have happened to him/her or what would have become of him/her.

A documentary suppose to reveal the truth behind an event. This "documentary" does not do that. There absolutely no evidence for abuse, yet they keep repeating Amber's allegations. I feel sorry for the whole cast and legal team of the sun, after the trial on 2022, they all look like a bunch of morons.

The show concentrates only on Amber's side completely ignoring Johnny's side ....even the cast tries to paint Johnny to b guilty. The show covers the legal proceedings of 2020 only and nothing of 2022. The entire proceedings of 2022 is covered with 3 lines displayed on a black screen at the end of the show.

The creator obviously sides with Amber and wants to use this documentary to sway people away from siding with Johnny.

Ive watched full length of the trial, and you will see how none of her alligations add up with evidence, and also reveals how she can't keep her story straight.

Go ahead, call me a "fence-sitter" or whatever.

It's weird how this trial has become a circus.

Some people insist that the verdict favoring Johnny Depp will only serve to "silence" all victims of abuse. Because apparently men can never be abused.

Gamergate is brought to the conversation for some reason.

Some claim mainstream media "favors" Depp, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

A lot of bandwagon jumpers who otherwise would have hated Johnny Depp for his political beliefs are now celebrating the result of the trial, because they apparently they also believe this will help to push down the MeToo movement and feminism, and in their minds this is a good thing because "woke" bad and because in a world without feminism ruled by God Emperor Trump they finally will be able to get laid .

Nonsense. Stupid nonsense.

If Amber Heard lied about being abused, this does NOT mean all women who report abuse are lying. It does NOT mean abuse should be condoned in our society.

It does NOT mean women should be deprived of rights, no matter what the incels believe.

It actually means we should reserve our judgements until finally knowing all the truth about an issue, that we should listen to evidence instead of "picking sides", as if serious, real life issues were sports events.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. The women who expressed support of Depp are not just "fangirls" or suffering from "internalized misogyny". And the men (and women) who attack the supporters of Amber Heard with sexist insults are actually counterproductive for the cause of equality.

And yes, I know, a lot of Depp supporters don't really care about equality. They just want to silence any opposition.

Just in the same way the people who are accusing any gay or transgender person of being "groomers". If they really cared about protecting children from pedophiles, they would be more outspoken about the abuse committed by the Catholic and Baptists churches. They would be more outspoken against the evils of the theocratic fascism of countries like Qatar, instead of praising them for their anti-gay politics.

They would care about Trump being friends with Jeffrey Epstein.

If they really hated the elites, why then they blindly support people like Elon Musk? Suddenly billionaries are not part of the elites because memes?

Political discourse has gone backwards, being now fueled by puerile sadism and wanting to "own" the other side. There is no place for nuance. It's all or nothing. "Whoever is not with me is against me", like in the Gospel. Thanks a lot, Ben Shapiro, for turning debates into a lame meme.

And we have to support any side unconditionally. Vote republican or democrat, and ignore who is pulling the strings behind the scenery.

Amber or Johnny, pick a side.

This reviewers here are pretty stupid

This documentary doesn't bring much to the table, there's no groundbreaking discoveries nor major new evidence. But to say it's biased towards Amber is just plain stupidity; reviewers here do not have a basic understanding of law and justice.

What they do is simply show both defenses versions of the events, and visibly Johnny's defense has a much better and credible version.

They show Amber's defence and claims with no support because they believe in a minimal common sense to the viewer to make its own conclusion, that should be obviously tilted towards Johnny; but these reviewers are clearly too emotional.

There are many other flaws in this documentary though: they repeat sequences of the first episode in the second, wich is just lazy. The editing is very bad in some points and the writing gets very repetitive, and you usually are left thinking that different people are making the same argument over and over again since often there's not much left to say but they have to meet a minimum time requirement because of the format.

Not a very good documentary, but it's worth to watch it if you don't know the basics of this lawsuit.

This is not a Documentary

I'm a documentary filmmaker and have been creating and co-creating documentaries for years. Johnny vs Amber is like watching a mainstream media news segment (think FOX) - highly biased poilitically, instead of presenting actual facts.

As documentary filmmakers, we are essentially investigative journalists. At least that's what GOOD documentary creators are supposed to be. We leave our opinions and biases at the door and create content that presents facts. This is to allow the viewer to make up their own mind about what to believe - after all facts have been presented to them.

This filmmaker left out critical information which would allow the viewer to use their intelligence in coming to their own conclusion. Instead, the content presented here was missing factual information. This was done intentionally. It is evident the filmmaker behind this "documentary" is an Amber Heard fan and believes Johnny Depp is an abuser.

If you are an Amber Heard fan and believe Johnny Depp is an abuser, then this mini series is for you.

Johnny's story is full of Amber's story. I expected to see a lot more about Johnny's side but it was mostly about Amber's claims stated as facts. It seems the whole documentary is supposed to be about Amber's side.

This was certainly an attempt to sway and/or convince the public opinion of a proven liar. This was one-sided with little of the proven court case facts and evidence presented. The PR machine at work attempting to push a narrative. I suggest looking at the UK court case which had nothing to do with Amber winning as this was a case of the Sun vs Johnny Depp. I suggest to watch the entire US trial and not snippets provided by Youtube channels for the whole truth. Men are domestically abused as well as women, let's stop believing all women and start listening to the facts; innocent until proven guilty.

I was expecting something unbiased (as it should be).

Started watching " Johnny's story " and its full of what amber said, and people claiming already as a fact that he is the abuser.

Don't waste your time with this, and if you care to know all the facts and evidence, just watch the trial and then you can make up your mind on who you believe to be telling the truth.

This is just another attempt from the media into swaying people's opinions by not giving all the information.

If I could rate it lower I would.

Hope this was useful if you were having doubts about watching it.

If I hadn't been following the Fairfax trial and doing research on the UK one, this may well have convinced me that Johnny Depp was guilty. An effective hit piece for people that don't read beyond the headlines.

This "documentary" wants you to believe the mainstream media's version of events, so they focus on the travesty that was the UK trial against the Sun. They have a narrative to push on us, and this is just another attempt at doing just that.

The MSM desperately want you to believe that WOMEN - and only WOMEN - are victims. That men cannot be abused.

A dishonest and dangerous message indeed.

Do yourself a favour and do what I did: watch the Virginia trial, look at the available evidence for yourself, read the transcripts, listen to the unedited audio recordings.

Johnny Depp's innocence is not a dangerous message for abused women.

It's a positive message reminding us that abuse has no gender, that you won't get away with lying about someone in an attempt to destroy them.

It's a positive message for all of us that have suffered, or are suffering, with abuse or false allegations.

Have hope, as justice can be served.

Agree with with all the other reviews, super biased. But even before she speaks, you can see it in her eyes. She is BAT SHHHH NUTS. This is just my opinion, but she's probably never been let go in a sense that someone can just move on with their life without her. She needs to have a lasting impact on them forever, whether it be begging for her to take him back or in Johnny's case, defaming him to the world. She's likely got a few personality disorders, and although this "DOC" was a load of one sided BS, he won in the end. This is what a woman scorned looks like. Hope she never gets another role again.

This is so rubbish - painting a false narrative. The world watch the trial and there is unlimited amounts of evidence she is a toxic, narcissist, and basically pure evil. And literally 0 evidence or ANY sort he did anything wrong. In fact it proved he was a victim.

Yes - men can be victims - and yes Johnny did the world a service by bringing that to the public eye.

So the fact this is such a 1 sided narrative - ignoring the whole situation and trying to rewrite history - is a disgrace.

They try to paint her as a broke victim - she literally victimized him and then blackmailed him out of money, houses and cars, using the fact he is a man as the reason he would lose.

Amber deserves to nothing else but to grow old alone and broke. Simple.

When I saw they were telling Johnny's story first I knew what side these "documentary" makers were on. They clearly intended people to initially tend to side with Johnny, because that's the side most people were on anyway (though 50% of his story was repeated in the second part) and would then be blown away by Ambers side of things.. and boy did they fail!

By far most of the arguments made by the people on Ambers side were about how unfair she was being treated, the public vilifying her and having their mind made up no matter what evidence there is to the contrary. And that would would be very true, íf she was actually speaking the truth! Which she wasn't and everybody knew it.

The evidence they mention is statements from previous psychologists saying Johnny had substance abuse issues, which he had already atmitted to and wasn't on trail for. No evidence whatsoever proved he actually laid a finger on Amber.

This was just pathetic.

You call this a documentary or a ode to Amber?

EP.1 Johnny story. Well by the name you would think we would get what is promised, right? Nooo, it could not be further from the truth, it is Amber story in a more tamed way.

Ep2. Amber story. It is not a store but more an ode to Amber that it is portrayed to be this huge Holly star that could outshine Johnny, that is va va voom but somehow she got beaten and abused by the monster that it is Johnny. Of course the facts don't matter in this documentary and only her say that must be taken as fact. We must gulp up everything widhout asking any questions.

This is NOT a documentary but another attempt to gaslight the public hoping that they will turn around and see Amber as a victim ( not as a manipulative beater) if you push this narrative long enough.

My God l. So biased. No way this is a documentary.

This is super biased created most probably by an Amber Heard fan. This is so one sided and doesn't give an opportunity to the viewer to make their own decisions. They should mark this as a personal opinion piece rather than tagging this as a documentary.

Here the creator has already formed an opinion in advance and then built their garbage documentary around it. If you are an amber heard fan you will like it maybe. If you are neither just avoid this waste of time tv limited series.

Dunno why Netflix is churning out such useless content these days. This series is another one where they are so far from the mark.

Well, to start it was proved in court (US) that A. H lied.

Amber was in fact abusing Johnny Depp and they were a super toxic couple, so to some of the people in this "documentary" paint Amber like she was a star on the rising trapped in a violent marriage getting beaten and abused is just ridiculous.

Her most known movie was Aquaman and that was thanks to J. D so I don't know where some of the people got their info that Johnny couldn't deal with Amber being successful.

Basically what this wants to transpire is Depp was a drug alcoholic violent monster and Amber Heard was a beautiful young rising star victim of domestic violence.

Just nonsense after nonsense.

I just wish I could get the time I spent watching this back.

I've seen the trial live and I've forced myself to watch this documentary and the only thing I can say is... shameful!!

Someone didn't like the outcome of the trial and is fighting back.

At the beginning of this documentary experts mention the fact that all of this trial was a massive PR campaign by JDepp...well...this documentary is a massive PR campaign for miss Amber.

In 10 years time people won't re-watch the trial, but they will easily watch a Netflix documentary which is bias. In 10 years time this documentary is going to be a reference to how a male abused a women and got away with it...this is a lie...this is a disgrace, this is shameful

Shame on you Netflix.

Don't watch it.

Hypocrisy at its Absolute Best

The heights of hypocrisy when a show talks about bias and favouritism in an era of social media; and then shamelessly proceeds to do the same in a flashy new mini series on Netflix.

What's worse is all the money that has been poured in to do a great job at art direction, lighting and sound engineering goes down the drain the moment you omit 90% of the overwhelming evidence against Amber Heard.

Someone who has followed this trial intently knows all the key moments where the trial was made and how the judgement was arrived at; none of which the makers of this show have bothered to address.

What's next from this team - a controversial mini series on why Hitler could've been a victim himself because he didn't get selected in the Vienna School of Arts? How we were quick to judge him and his actions? How history should re-evaluate it's stance on this matter?

I sincerely urge all reading this to give 1 star rating to this show and leave an honest negative review to dissuade any future show makers to make such a shameful and open mockery of viewers.

Watching this is like watching 8 year olds present their side of the story to their parents to avoid being grounded. Highly biased and immature. Your time is valuable, don't waste it watching this. This is a bad time no matter what side you lean toward. I wouldn't even rate it if I could. A 1 star review is very generous.

If you want to spend your time watching tiktoks and youtubers pretend to be "experts" on a situation, just watch tiktok or youtube. The editing is what one would expect from a skateboard edit, and the arguments provided from outside characters outwardly tell the view that they are biased opinions. This is bad.
