This is a nice zany one.

Not as unforgettable as the previous episode, but still a fun ride.

It's a nifty, if not completely original, premise. The idea of brainwashed robot men is something that fits naturally into a show like Danger 5.

Highlights for me:
  • the fact that the island of Japan moves around by some kind of underwater propulsion system
  • when the girl enters Stalin's moustache
  • the staring contest where Ilsa distracts Tucker
  • Mussolini as a bratty little kid

I think the episode loses points based on its characterisation of the Japanese. I don't have a problem with it, it's just a bit overdone and not really that funny.

Just as I was starting to warm to Danger 5

Episode 3 of silly Aussie series Danger 5 sees the fearless team of international super spies sent on a mission to investigate the creation of Nazi super soldiers by the Japanese. And to kill Hitler.

After the excellent offbeat dinosaur fun of episode 2, Kill Men of the Rising Sun comes as something of a disappointment, the script failing to deliver quite as much random weirdness as before, the only memorably surreal moment being a Russian woman taking refuge from danger in Joseph Stalin's moustache. I demand more totally insane nonsense of that ilk (or failing that, more buxom women in sexy attire!).

For my money, the funniest thing about the whole episode is that none of the Japanese characters are played by Japanese actors.
