Good film must see
pkjnelson5 December 2011
I really like this film. The plot is good with enough room for suspense I especially liked the leading role who had me mesmerized throughly the the entire film. Once again a captivating performance I must say. the plot is summarize as Kristina Branden Whitaker has written a play about having a baby with a difference. A very big difference. After nine months of first-time parents' expectations and hopes, optimism and fears, their baby is born very severely disabled. Unable to survive without the most intensive medical care, the baby is at the center of the play, but is only heard not seen. Inevitably, the child comes to dominate and define each parent, and over time to challenge their relationship as a couple. In a contrasting parallel story, a decision to terminate a pregnancy where the same very rare condition is present has equally profound consequences for the would-be parents.

Mediocre example of film on film

Warning: Spoilers
Here we got "Fringe", a British 5.5-minute live action short film from 2010, so almost a decade old and this one was directed by Tom Shirm. Apparently, to some extent, it is also a family affair as one of the writers and also a cast member is Nick Shirm. Not sure how he stands to Tom, probably son or brother. Anyway, I found it a bit surprising to see so many writers on such a short movie. But sadly, it is an example of too many cooks spoiling the broth and I am sure this one would be getting less attention if it didn't share the name with a famous television series. All in all, the plot with the actors playing actors and what happens to them on their way to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is rather mediocre and forgettable and while the film is not a failure I guess, it is just too unimpressive all along, the acting is also not too great. Then again, the script is not doing these young actors any favors really. My suggestion is to skip this one and there are many better ways to spend 5 minutes instead.
