"What sort of a mother doesn't believe in her own son?"
skteosk1 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Sadly, like most episodes these days, it ends up frustrating you even though it has some good moments in it.There's an unfortunate dissonance between the way the writers seem to want you to perceive the characters and the way they actually are. Here, it's Gina and Marilyn who behave in a thoroughly unlikable fashion and make you wonder why on earth they're being portrayed as protagonists.

April does, to her credit, confess to what's happened and seems genuinely worried about Xavier, although there's a bit too much self-pity mixed in with it.Bianca's decision to get her father to belittle her as punishment feels a bit cruel and it's hard to shake the feeling there won't actually be any proper legal punishment at the end of this, given the rather pat "It's up to the school" way it's dealt with. Having spent the last episode declaring everything is Xavier's fault, Gina now seems to take the same approach with April and her cold rejection of her, which probably isn't what Xavier would want, is understandable but hard to sympathise with.

Meanwhile, after Alf's surprisingly early exit, Marilyn continues with Operation Steal Nicole's Baby, presenting her with a contract that basically amounts to a list of demands and treating her like a surrogate, even going as far as trying to get Leah onside to talk Nicole round. It's actually good to see Morag in Nicole's corner, whether she wants her there or not:There's been too many people pussyfooting around this one.

No murder of Xavier Austin again

Warning: Spoilers
It's the flamin' farewell to beloved Alf Stewart as he takes a temporary holiday break with Morag taking him to the airport - I'm assuming she tells him (from telling Colleen in last episode) that she didn't want him to leave as she will be left alone and empty.

Xavier is nowhere near on deathbed (even though would've suffocated him in last episode of my own storyline and character as myself). Hearing Xavier is being blamed, April eventually spills the beans that she stole the chemicals.

Have to say that Gina deserves to be feel ashamed for wrongly assuming or not believing Xavier didn't steal the chemicals.

A little harsh when Bianca called April's dad who berates and belittles her for her irresponsible actions - I still would think April's responsible for interfering in Bianca's love triangle with Liam Murphy and Vittorio. Now April is left with school coming to decision of her punishment (not done legally, as Xavier isn't dead) and Gina forbids her to see Xavier - not sure if he'd agree to that. If Xavier had died, Gina could've forbid April attending his funeral.

As for the whole storyline of Marilyn wanting to adopt Nicole's baby - I don't know much on this, even she and Sid show legal representation like Morag the contract and she tells them to do this through the proper channels.
