Love the show. Interesting to see whodunit.

Warning: Spoilers
I love this show. I also like how they worked with the blackout in the story. It gave another dimension. I like how this show is not just about the main characters but also about side characters that get focused on in an episode and things going on in their lives.

I am pretty sure the detective isn't murderer. The clue is too obvious but the detective has had contact with the murderer or he got the glitter on his neck by coincidence in a totally other way unrelated to the glitter bomb.

I am still thinking she set up her own death because she was lonely and the biggest thing in her life got taken away from her. Probably as kind of a parting gift for the three of them. A riddle to solve.

Anyhow I liked the first season and was afraid the quality would drop off but much to my surprise and delight it still hitting all the buttons for me.

The Glitter Guy is revealed!
Carpe_diem_10 August 2022
The episode was good except for one obvious goof up. The OMITB fans are back and do offer some light moments. The blackout sparks an unexpected romance. We also get to see a more empathic side of Nina. Most importantly the glitter guy is revealed. Without revealing the identity, all I can say is that this murder seems to be connected with Tim Kono's. Remember cops tried to close the latter without a thorough investigation. Now the goof up - I cannot stomach the lack of urgency shown by the trio in finding Lucy in the passages. That wasn't the time for yodeling.

If I ignore that one slip up, I think this was a well crafted episode.

Allowing the Characters to Grow, As Well as the Plot
Hitchcoc20 August 2022
When the whole sector of New York fall into darkness, the characters have to treat it with kid gloves. The murderer is out there but the subdued nature of the environment throws roadblocks in the way. That cop reappears and is suspicious, but I doubt he is a candidate. Darkness makes for more threat in the shadows. There are some funny scenes where the elevator can't run without electricity. Also, that labyrinth in the building continues to make for some interesting confrontations.

getting better and better

Warning: Spoilers
After the last episode in which no progress was made in terms of the case and the plot, this episode finally reveals to the audience several possible suspects, from the brand-new Broadway singer to the suspicious detective who is probably the Glitter Guy.

Also, as a musical fan, I honesly dig the element of musical in this episode.

Who is my old friend????
moviesfilmsreviewsinc1 September 2022
In the trio's attempts to solve Bunny's murder, they discovered a bloody matchbook from a nearby diner in a secret passage leading out of Mabel's apartment. The matchbook had a fingerprint on it, making it the clearest lead to catch the killer. Charles, Oliver, and Mabel texted the number they thought belonged to Detective Williams, asking her to run the print. However, things got complicated when they found out that the texter couldn't be Detective Williams, because she was on maternity leave. This meant only one thing: The mysterious texter was also the killer. The texter arranged to have the matchbook evidence left at a drop-off point, but the Only Murders trio surprised the mysterious figure with a glitter bomb instead - thus giving us the name "Glitter Guy." Glitter Guy managed to escape, but we've learned several things about him: First, that he is (or was, at one point) covered in glitter. Second, that he attacked Mabel, resulting in her stabbing him in the arm with a knitting needle. Third, that he works as a security guard at Coney Island. So now that we know who Glitter Guy is, does that mean we also know the killer's identity? Not necessarily. Kreps has definitely been an antagonistic force this season, but why would he want to kill Bunny? Why would he try to frame Charles, Oliver, and Mabel? And why would he text them to get out of the Arconia the night Bunny died? On top of all that, we've only just met Kreps this season. It's more likely that Bunny's killer would be someone we met in Season 1 who also knew Bunny and our leads. Kreps could still be involved in the murder - he is Glitter Guy, after all - but perhaps more as a sidekick to the actual killer. Think about it: Who's to say Glitter Guy and the person texting Charles, Oliver, and Mabel are definitely the same person? The texter, whose fingerprint is likely the one on the matchbook, could have called Kreps in for damage control. However, the way in which Kreps is linked to the killer is still unknown.

The Black out
AvionPrince1610 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Nina got a package and we wondering what is it. And Lucy is still in danger in the apartment because the killer is in the house and clearly want to harm that girl. And they found Lucy safe and sound. And Lucy reveal that she was here the night of the murder and reveal that maybe she sees something important. Thats why the killer hunt her. And we discover that Marv was here with the killer and get him way (the fan of the podcast). So the killer disappear. But at the end we saw that the detective Kreps is the killer and that end like this

So the Black out make things clearly more darker and give a different mood to the show. The killer is still in the street. And get more tense when he entered the apartment where Lucy is. The hunt get us pretty engaged in the scenes. And the revelations of Lucy make us understand why the killer is after her. Still have some nice comedy and a part more serious. And the end make us to want know more about the detective Kreps. Nice episode.

Hello, Darkness

Warning: Spoilers
This episode kind of dragged at times. Some funny parts, but nothing too shocking here. Rapaport's cop is not the killer, so we'll likely just learn over the last two episodes his relationship to the murderer.

Hello, Darkness

If this season was not as good as the first one. Only Murders in the Building makes a joke about it.

Marv of the podcast fan group is keeping the faith while the others are getting restless. Turning their attention to other pastimes.

With New York in a blackout, Marv seems to know about the tunnels in the Arconia as Lucy is in the building and in danger.

The blackouts leads to some nice character moments for other people in the Arconia, all done with the song The Sound of Silence.

I did feel for poor Lester having to climb all those flights of steps.

This was a good holding episode, with Oliver concerned about his paternity test. It did end with a good potential reveal which could be misdirection.

Mable thinks she has the identity of the Glitter Guy.

Almost insultingly bad
SlinkyC13 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
OMITB is usually one of my favourite shows, but this episode was like the writers / director stopped caring.

+ Why did Lucy not at least try to close the secret bathroom door behind her? She just left it open for the killer to chase her.

.+ The delays on the stairs became pathetic.

+ The trio were sooo loud in the secret corridor, despite a murderer nearby.

+ Could art department not put anything in the bag of dips, to make it look like a bag of dips? (Oliver was on the stairs waving around a pretty much empty bag).

+ When the power came back on at the end, why did Oliver not check his paternity results.

So many loose ends which are dragging:

Whatever happened to:
  • the painting
  • amy shumer
  • Daisy the artist.

  • Charles's dad storyline.

The writers needed a bit harder on this episode. If OMITB continues like this, it'll loose a lot of viewers.

Season 2 deepest point so far
boudewijnborne10 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Agree with some of the other writers over here, very poorly writing.

Walking upstairs with the all the delay, chasing the 'murderer' behind the wall and not even taking along one knife, the joking and delaying behind the walls with the killer around and the gliiter-in-the-neck incident.

If I would have a empty diary, this would be the time to start writing. #timebetterspent.

This whole episode needed to be rewritten.
david-368-50233911 August 2022
I don't know how this made it on the screen, it is by far the worst written show of the franchise. I would say it was campy, but it takes itself too seriously for that. So it was just full of so many holes and events that were so unpolished it was laughable, it's degraded every episode this season. Martin Short is still the saving grace of a very poorly developed series of scripts.

Terrible writing
james-6848010 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was stupid, the writing was bad and unfunny, I hate how they introduce this character who might be the killer because he sneezed the same, the detective kreps thing was dumb, if he is glitter guy how did the glitter get on his neck, he was wearing a ski mask. If they were so scared about Lucy why did they stop to sit, also the whole blackout thing was dumb, they got a notification form the power company that quick. I have a feeling Dan fogelman is controlling the writers room, not John Hoffman who created the show! Dan fogelman is a bad writer and it shows. Also they dropped so many plots, the painting, Amy Schumer, who killed rose cooper and Charles dad, this show has gotten stupid.

Darkness Indeed
momciloradovanovic15 August 2022
I am wondering whether they intentionally made an episode in which the main characters do actions that make no sense whatsoever as a symbol of breaking the matrix and revealing the true nature of our world - senseless distopia that can break any moment.

Or they just had bad situational comedy choices, how can I know.

Anyhow, the episode is trash.

Stumbling Along
aherdofbeautifulwildponies11 September 2023
After Episode 7 of the second series, 'Flipping the Pieces (2022)', I speculated the show was turning into a melodrama. I stand corrected: as of Episode 8, Only Murders in the Building (2021) is closer to pantomime - in the British meaning of the word.

The dwellers of the Arconia are plunged into the dark, as the Upper West Side suffers a power outage; hence the episode title 'Hello, Darkness'. Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) return to the building, having just learned that Charles's not-quite-adopted-daughter Lucy (Zoe Colletti) is inside, while the murderer remains on the loose.

One may expect a sense of urgency - after all, this is a literal matter of life and death. There's none. The episode meanders along, unconcerned with any questions previously posed by the show. (What was the meaning behind the painting of Charles's father? Is Oliver biologically related to Will? Somewhere within the Arconia, there are Amy Schumer and Cara Delevingne, with their plot-lines suspended. Not that I miss those characters, exactly; however, the great Shirley MacLaine - who briefly appeared as Bunny's mother - definitely does not deserve such neglect.)

The building stairs are revealed to be the true enemy. Martin Short bravely carries the bulk of the episode (and a bag of dips) on his shoulders, while the show continues to be largely well-acted and so, so poorly written.

Disappointment after disappointment
showlover8316 August 2022
This episode sucks. If you like this episode, sorry, I guess. There's nothing good about this episode. Nothing monumental happens, except for the reveal of glitter guy in the worst, most boring way possible. He/she get's bumped into and he moves his neck?! LAME!!! Also, (name) stalking them was SO CREEPY AND SAD. Like, why was (name) there? So unnecessary. I feel like the writers FLOPPED with this one. Thank god the episode after this one is so well made. 1/10, just for how disappointed I am.

I don't know why I'm still watching this show but recently everything goes in a random Way, in a stupid way as if they are KIDS. They just put useless dialogue, useless scene, and useless characters.

The ONLY thing that was good about this episode ...
Ziggy196512 August 2022
... was the Sound of Silence song written by Simon and Garfunkle.

Now I have to keep writing something because I need to have at least 150 characters to have a review.

This is kind of useless. About as useless as the writing of Season 2.

Season 1 was so much better and i wish they would have stopped it there.
