I'm going to miss Marvin
foamythefearsome30 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The showdown between Reddington and Marvin was good, and their knowledge of each other's methods made for a great finale similar to the conclusion of Mr. Kaplan's story arc.

I'm sad to see Marvin go, as I liked him and admired his continued loyalty throughout the series, especially since he was right: Red's plan to pass his criminal empire on to Liz was a terrible idea, as she was clearly not fit to lead and manage it, especially since he had no reason to even abandon his empire (Except maybe that time he got sick a few seasons ago, which they did not really get back to anymore?).

What I liked most was their mutual respect, despite the fact that they were hunting each other like animals - they were not just allies, which is another reason why I am going to miss Marvin Gerard. I had just hoped that his demise would have been a little more epic; I think he deserved a grander exit than a simple gunshot in his car, despite the fact that I liked Red's solution. A little more emhpasis on that and a little less graveyard conversation (which felt a bit forced even though it was a nice goodbye) might have made this episode into a 10 star banger like so many other conclusions.

I liked the tie-in with the next season at the end, where it builds up to a promising plot for it. I'm curious to see what they can make of it, though I feel it has run its course afterwards, as they are going to recycle the past.

The end of the Keen era!
bosporan28 May 2022
A satisfactory, though not top-drawer final episode, sadly more was to be expected following the excellent penultimate episode. Sure everything is closed out, Red shows his 4D-chess brilliance once again and a platform is provided for a launch into season ten.

It was all too 'talky' though, with very little action or credible jeopardy and more like the spinning down of a spent Catherine wheel. The final scene is nauseating with the FBI again talking like a group of intellectually challenged social workers, though there is one delightfully welcome piece of news regarding Aram which bodes well for the future.

The season as a whole has been very good, I was concerned that, with Megan Boone leaving, it would descend into a boring standard procedural. For the most part it has not, though Elizabeth's shadow has loomed long over the season, hopefully that boil is now lanced and the show can move on.

Really. The cast are the only ones that care about Liz. The world moved on in Episode 2 season 1. But Spader...brilliant to the last. Looking forward to 10.

I can not get enough of "The Blacklist"
tiggerden31 May 2022
This episode showed what a true "bad-ass" Redington (James Spader) can be. To me it was incredible. The twists and turns of every episode is what keeps me coming back for more. Yes I could have said suspenseful nature of each plot, I didn't. Well now I guess I did. ((shrugs)) Love Mr., Spader have always been a fan back from the Boston Legal days. Brilliant actor.

It was no Mr Kaplan or Ian Garvey , but still ok

Warning: Spoilers
I don't know if it was because I watched this episode at midnight, and may need to re-watch it again but I felt that it didn't live up to the expectations set by a conclusion episode.

Sure, conflicts are resolved and we know where the next season is headed but it had a surprising lack of action sequences.

Spoilers below:-

I was happy to see Red outsmarting the task force once again in a clever way as he did in the earlier seasons.

I liked that Red didn't kill Marvin immediately and tried to understand where he came from instead of murdering him in cold blood. Offering Marvin the choice to kill himself rather than let Red torture him before killing him was cool.

I didn't like Marvin offing himself in a car. I wanted him to give one last fight on his own but I guess he did it by giving the blacklist to Wujing. His attitude has drastically shifted from the previous episode. He's already acknowledged his fate which left a sour taste in my mouth.

The ending could've been done better. They've already done the whole 'task force visits Elizabeth's grave' thing a few times this season. It would've been nice to see Reddington with them or at least set the events in action for season 10.

All in all, decent episode, but didn't live up to expectations.

I hope this is the end
misterproper30 May 2022
Even though I was not fan of Elizabeth in the later seasons, it ended so badly with her. This entire season was so weak, with such bad episodes that I really hope for the sake of the story that it's over. It ended well enough that I can just forget the last season and remember the good stuff from before.

Reddington's Wrath Begins
wofen-0503428 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
WATCH THIS EPISODE!

It's the beginning of the end of the blacklist. Reddington manipulates everybody- the FBI, criminals, judges, Marvin Gerard. All while being the most rational character on the show.

Go watch it.

If you have any serious issues ?
GoldenGooner044 October 2022
Just watched the episode on Sky, and as the credits rolled, a voice said "If there are any issues that was raised in this programme that has affected you go to Sky Help" WTF Hold on, I have just watched a programme which is not real, about baddies and more baddies, and a scene by Liz Keen's grave. Well Sky yes i do need help, why you ask, well let me tell you People don't get it, Liz is the glue that holds the programme together, we still don't know who Red is, and I guess the writers don't have a clue also, maybe he was going to be her mother, but after every fan laughing their heads off at that one, need another idea. And also we have the "letter" what was in it.

So we hit season 10 for a show that should have ended after season 5 and we still don't have the answer to the question we have asked since season 1 episode 1 But the actors don't care, I mean what else have they done in 10 years? Even Mr Spader a top quality actor in this is scared of films, and Megan surprise surprise is going into another series.

Expect her back for season 11, Her "Real Mum" saved her life, and she has been living for 4 years In Brazil or somewhere and Red is her ??

Don't Feel Fulfilled
Hitchcoc17 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I wish i could put my head around why this last episode lacked something. It was set up well by the first part. But Marvin really failed and went down without much of a fight. The guys he enlisted were incompetent and hung him out to dry. They had terminal arrogance. Red never looked back. All the forgiveness, Cooper getting his job and reputation back seemed a real stretch. Red, living to fight another day and the Black List continuing. How convenient. The introduction of the next villain with a vendetta all set to go. I guess we'll see when the next season rolls around. Sometimes Red does things to circumvent authority. It's behind the scenes so he doesn't have to explain it. There's too much of that here, I'm afraid. I am glad I chanced onto this show, however.

just end the show already
talllwoood131 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I've been watching the show since it premiered on tv. You'd really have to be a die hard fan to watch it to this point. If you wanted to know about Raymond's true identity minus a "mysterious" letter we aren't good enough to see or Raymond to mention after 6 or so episodes well.. you'll have to stick to the really half baked fan theories that are online that are unofficial. The writers did such a horrible job this season. This review is for the entire 9th season.

The last few seconds seem far more interesting than this entire season was. It was so obvious that Marvin was the bad guy and seriously it just seemed like they ran out of interesting characters. On one hand they didn't just write in new people I'll give them some credit but it's just so boring. I get it, it's best when it's who you least expect to do something like this but I wasn't thrilled about it. Most of the episodes were lazy and quickly wrapped up to the point it was almost insulting like the network cut the budgets in half.. By some chance all the back stories melted into one story with Harold Cooper and so forth and it was kind of clever but they stretched it for the ENTIRE season. Usually half way in the story progresses to something a little more different.

I don't know why at this point they don't just tell us who Reddington actually is and why Agnes is so important in a straight forward sort of way to squash any film theories. I mean seriously Lizzie is dead, we're to believe she "knew" before she was shot she read the mysterious letter hours before which explains the hesitation. What possibly would we have to lose especially those who endured this mediocre season as endured is the best choice of words. It had massive shoes to fill but how over hyped it was to finally know who Raymond is and get to see the outside of an envelope is insulting. They would rather shift to just Reddington which I predict can't go very much further as Lizzie created more of a balance than the South American shaman and the new body guard Reddington has. Whether or not the viewers climb or not it needs to cancel. James Spader who plays him does a good job but lately he looks lost old man in a new retirement home, he looks tired and his hair is always a mess like he doesn't want to be on set. I seriously think it's time to end the show after they resolve this last conflict and somehow shoe horn in the truth which as we know Reddington can't give a straight answer to save his life. The writers were ATROCIOUS this season. Did they get the scripts and story lines off of that website fiver? The site you pay 5$ for stuff. The characters we're left with are so boring. The ones that they introduced sucked. Look at how even a boring show like Criminal Minds got rid of someone but replaced them with someone equally interesting or sometimes better. How the heck did Ressler last? Is he a cheap actor to hire? Is his schedule more flexible than anyone elses? He's such a stiff actor. We get it he's addicted to pills whoop dee doo. They couldn't do anything else with his character except moap about some one night stand him and Lizzie had. Helena is forgetful, no one cares about her, even if she was in the first season or two and there's some nostalgia she is dull. Making Dembe a field agent was a mistake as his accent is too thick and the history he has with Reddington everyone is looking away? They might as well get John Wayne Gacy to host their childrens next birthday parties. Haram's character got old fast. He plays the same goofy role in every show I've seen the actor in. He must be one heck of an actor to be in a series with Steven Seagal called True Justice. I say make Reddington disappear into the sunset and tell Agnes who he is. Or kill him 6 to 12 episodes in and the other 6 to 12 just explain how the mysterious person became who they are. Lots of flash backs, nostalgia. I can see why Jon Bokenkamp stepped down after seeing this atrocious season.

Get over it....really
jspicer982 December 2022
Can we finally get over Elizabeth??? It's supposedly been over 3 years. This storyline is growing so tiresome. It's been very difficult to get this far in the series. I really enjoyed it in the beginning, but then Keen and Ressler seemed to take the bulk of the narrative. They were both annoying and whiny. Why they felt the need to continue a constant storyline rather than a week to week catching criminals, I'm at a loss. I grow weary of constant bickering and whining of who did this/that. Let's solve crimes. I couldn't care less about who did what to whom. I'm certainly glad that they put the Katarina story to rest....

Need for closure
venerisdeus1 June 2022
After struggling with this season, the ending message seems justified, as one can have suicidal tendencies after seeing how hilariously stupid the show came to be. If there is still someone out there who has not figured out who Red is (beside stupid Liz), you are wasting your time, folks. I expect an extremely boring 10th (hopefully last) season with old, tired characters and totally predictible stories.

Weakest Link
Johnny_West6 July 2023
How many times has the lame comedy remarks of Amir ruined a good episode? How many times has he let people go, instead of arresting them, like whiny Liz? How many times has Amir bungled evidence? How often has Amir lied to somebody on the team so he could help somebody else? Thanks to Amir, the Isreali Mossad targeted his girlfriend for death. Amir is a total loser character, and yet he was never killed off!

Of all the lame characters that have been on this show, it seems like Amir never had any accountability for all his stupidity, mistakes, bad judgment, and horrible lack of comic timing. Amir lingered on for nine full seasons, when many other better characters got killed off.

The crime of treason marginalizing the hero
lahcenbarca21 December 2022
This is a crime against Mr. Raymond.

They didn't show any sympathy for him, not even from Dembe, after he was betrayed and the Gerrad deal was approved.

Their only concern is Harold.

And no one sympathized with Raymand for me and as a follower of the series and my admiration for it is the first time I see a deviation from the writer from the course of events and the main character who was the reason for the success of the series

On the one hand, he portrays the series for us as Raymond is always loyal to the office and his friends While being betrayed from the office And bring down his empire and exploit it for Harold Wow.

Warning: Spoilers
This was almost as bad as ep 19 ,almost. The stupidity of the FBI team is saved by the intelligence of Raymond! Always rehashing Elizabeth. The graveyard scene was excruciating. Im thinking jeez give it a rest. Over acting and unbelievable. I mean it's been 3 years!!! And.... Raymond and Dembe go to a lodge alone with the most important people in his organization and it didn't dawn on them that the brilliant lawyer might possibly know?! The story has more dumb holes on it than Swiss cheese. The first 8 seasons had plausible believable story lines. I sure hope season 10 has better writers!mmmmm.
