Laughed and cried

This episode will for sure be competing with Private Schools for my top episode of the season so far. While Private Schools was definitely the funniest this one managed to balance both humour and heart perfectly.

I found this to be wonderful. As a matter of fact, I like all the episodes involving the clueless redneck neighbors. The men end up in a hunting shack but that's a problem because Vampires don't hunt (not animals unless they are drinking their blood). Everyone is bored to death and Laszlo and Nandor are arguing constantly. Young Collin is becoming one of my favorite characters as he goes about being a kid, being about as boring as his namesake. The girls are left behind while Guillarmo throws a dinner party for his family. The woman watch Mama Mia and their singing along is great. Nadja invades the dinner party and this leads to serious consequences. Great show.

another gem

I'm writing this from 2023 having gotten a ways into S5. By now it's becoming clear what parts of this show works and what doesn't. This episode plays to two of the show's strengths: the guys and their wacky adventures with Sean, who has emerged as a surprisingly funny character and asset to the series; and Guillermo with his ongoing adventures into Buffy-dom. Of course his family are all slayers, why didn't I (and Guillermo) see that going in? When Nadja blunders into the family dinner, suddenly she's funny again, like in the old days. Sadly she's lost a lot of her mojo in this season because the whole vampire schtick is wearing thin.

This episode also includes one of the funniest lines in the show's history, when Guillermo blurts out a bunch of horrific facts about himself: he's spent the last 12 years helping vampires murder and eat innocent people, he aspires to murder and eat innocent people too and oh yeah he's gay!!!! Well that's one way to come out I guess.

Guillermos coming out scene was so beautiful and i loved it, the show has such excellent representation so thank you :D

also love baby collin robison being an i pad kid and liking roblox and mr beast it's very realistic tbh as someone with a 9 year old brother.

Also the girls night in was great i too love mamma mia and it was so funny the writers are so great i really love this show if u can't tell.

Representation is just so important especially as a lot of lgbtq shows have been cancelled recently, i really appreciate all the characters in this show :)

Bloody excellent is all i have to say.

Representation is so important especially since a lot of lgbtq shows have been cancelled recently, so it's very good for the community rn , all the characters are so great and it's not over doing it that they r all gay or bi or pan bc it's realistic , they've all been around for hundreds of years (except guiellmo) so obviously they would experiment and be fluid in their sexuality like it wld be weird if they were all strictly straight and weren't even curious in the same sex for all that time if that makes sense

Guillermo is my absolute favorite character and watching him come out to his family in this episode was so incredibly moving. The writers did a perfect job with this storyline; I loved that they didn't translate the Spanish until it was absolutely necessary for the plot and that his moment connecting with his family was centered around a tender and heartfelt coming out scene rather than playing anything for laughs or overwriting that storyline with the vampire plot. I'm so glad Guillermo got that moment with his family (who were way more confused about the vampire stuff) and Nadja's (baffled) support was touching as well. As Nadja says, isn't everybody gay?

We're sensing a theme here: Laszlo is doing his best to save the show, but the rest is just not clicking. Don't care at all about Guillermo's journey, spiritual or otherwise.
