Dear Hrafn Gunnlaugsson,
I do not know who you are. Nor do I know anything about Icelandic horror movies. I decided to watch your movie on a whim and based on the 8.6 rating on IMDb.
It was a very eerie movie of place. I did get the feeling that I was in another world. The island in the film must be one of the most ugliest and run down ones ever captured on film.
I wonder if you were inspired by Deliverance (1972). Like that film, your movie was also about middle class guys who visit a strange place to get drunk and live it up. Also the part where the guys drive around arrogantly in the small town and ask a local for help - all reminded me of Deliverance.
What was up with the background score? Everything about the movie including the loud rock n roll score, the pacing and the plot were very unusual.
I was not scared or thrilled. I was a bit bored after a certain point. The VHS print did not help I guess.
Anyway, I am glad I watched it.
Best Regards, Pimpin.
