Fans don't have to worry that the Vikings TV show on History will be cancelled in the near future. The fifth season just kicked off last week, and back in September, History renewed Vikings for season six. Still, how long should the audience expect this historical drama to run? According to History's new programming Executive Vice President, Eli Lehrer, it sounds like the decision to continue or end Vikings largely lies with creator and writer Michael Hirst. A History channel action-adventure series, the fifth season of Vikings stars Alexander Ludwig, Alex Høgh Andersen, Peter Franzén, Katheryn Winnick, Jordan Patrick Smith, Gustaf Skarsgård, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The period drama delves into the Viking warriors and their strange, ruthless world. Read More…...

Has the house that Frank Underwood built come tumbling down? Netflix has suspended production on the sixth season of its House of Cards TV show, "until further notice." Yesterday, in wake of allegations involving star Kevin Spacey, Netflix had announced House of Cards would end with its upcoming sixth season, leaving it effectively cancelled, but with one more installment to come. Now that final chapter seems to be in doubt. A Netflix political thriller, House of Cards stars Spacey as Frank Underwood and Robin Wright as Claire Underwood. Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Neve Campbell, Derek Cecil, Paul Sparks, and Joel Kinnaman also star. The fifth season debuted Netflix on May 30, 2017. Production was already underway in Baltimore on the thirteen episodes of season six, but now it has come to an indefinite halt, leaving the drama's future uncertain. Read More…...

Image Source: Netflix The fifth season of Orange Is the New Black is filled with intense, dramatic moments, but it also has its fair share of levity, oftentimes courtesy of the drugged-out dynamic duo of Leanne (Emma Myles) and Angie (Julie Lake). If you've been wondering about the woman behind everyone's favorite meth head, Angie . . . well, you could probably bump into her on the street and never even know you did it. In fact, that happens to her all the time. In 2016, the actress relayed a story about how a starstruck fan actually asked Julie to take a photo of her with the Oitnb cast because the fan didn't recognize Lake as Angie. But that's the by-product of her fabulous "makeunder" for the show, which actually doesn't take as long as one might think. It turns out her meth teeth are painted on, so it only takes a few minutes...

2017-08-18T12:33:01-07:00Big Changes Coming for 'Orange is the New Black'
Orange Is the New Black might indeed be getting a makeover when it returns for its sixth season.
A cliffhanger finale left the fate of 10 fan-favorite characters up in the air, as well as the possibility that Litchfield Penitentiary would no longer serve as home to the prisoners on the Netflix dramedy. The fifth season told the story of a prison riot — stretching across all 13 episodes — incited by the murder of inmate Poussey Washington (Samira Wiley), that culminated in the prisoners losing their season-long standoff in devastating fashion. As riot police blew up a bunker holding the 10 prisoners in question, the rest of the inmates were bussed off to two undisclosed prisons — presumably taking the series to new locations and possibly without its entire lineup of core characters.

After being off the air for four years, following an earlier, seven year hiatus, Arrested Development is finally escaping its state of... well... arrested development. The fifth season was announced back in May and is set to air on Netflix next summer, which was home to the fourth season of the series following its cancellation on Fox in 2006. That's right, TV's greatest series, and funniest family will be back, this time unraveling the murder mystery cliffhanger left at the end of the divisive previous season.

“I guess what I'm trying to say is...I did get the joke about the toaster oven.”
It’s been 20 years since Ellen Morgan, the former TV alter ego of Ellen DeGeneres, said that famous line in “The Puppy Episode,” when it first aired on April 30, 1997. Of course, this precluded her infamous declaration, “I’m gay,” to the people waiting to depart on flight 316 to Pittsburgh. In the hall of fame, alongside the Mash series finale and this year’s Oscars broadcast, sits an episode of Ellen we now remember as a groundbreaking risk with a lasting impact on TV diversity.

Before starting the show’s fourth season, DeGeneres decided the time was right for her character to come out. More than just a creative decision for the series, it was also to coincide with her own announcement to the public. On April 14, the longtime stand-up comedian gave an interview to Time, appearing on the...

Sometimes, you go to a reunion and realize people you knew way back when haven't changed an iota.
Elizabeth and Philip couldn't even reunite with Claudia on The Americans Season 5 Episode 8 without the very obvious character changes (nature/personality not the portrayal of another) within the small group.
The fifth season subtlety continued.
Gabriel is gone, and in his place is Claudia.
But it's pretty clear Philip and Elizabeth preferred the way Gabriel left things. He noted on his way out that they didn't need him anymore and could take care of themselves. Not only did they take it to heart, they work best off each other's advice anyway.
Claudia: I was read in on everything. You've been doing beautifully.
Philip: We've had our moments.
Permalink: We've had our moments. Added: April 25, 2017

The fifth season of House of Cards is little over a month away, and as Frank and Claire Underwood hit up the streets of Washington D.C. to campaign for re-election in typically Machiavellian fashion, over the course of the weekend Netflix premiered four all-new pics via Entertainment Weekly.
Heralding the return of Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright as America’s most formidable power couple – “we don’t submit to terror; we make the terror” – you’ll also find another peek at Joel Kinnaman as the towering Will Conway, a fierce opponent to the Underwoods who started to make in-roads into the White House in season 4. Expect that rivalry to reach new heights with the premiere of season 5 on May 30th, and if you’re beginning to develop a sense of déjà vu following the real-life American election of 2016, executive producer Melissa James Gibson stressed to...

The eighth season of Archer picks up where the seventh left off, with the titular character’s bullet-riddled body floating in a Los Angeles swimming pool. It begins without humor, in the midst of death. Woodhouse is eulogized and buried, while Archer lies in a coma and a voiceover recites Bible verses. Lana and Mallory wait next to Archer’s comatose body for him to wake up, wondering what he might be dreaming about.
This is the framing device for Archer: Dreamland, the eighth season of the animated action comedy. Like several of its preceding seasons, this new installment drops us into a long form exploration of a theme. The fifth season gave us the team as drug dealers (Archer Vice), the sixth made them spies again, and the seventh turned them into Hollywood private detectives. Now, the entire season appears to be...

While the world of global politics – particularly in the U.S. and the U.K. – has seemed like the plot of an especially outlandish movie in the past 12 months, writer-producer-director Ryan Murphy intends to take one part of it as inspiration for his award-winning FX series, American Horror Story. While future plans for the show are often shrouded in secrecy, Murphy has used an interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to confirm that the upcoming seventh season will be about the 2016 U.S. Presidential election.
“Well, I don’t have a title, but the season that we begin shooting in June is going to be about the election that we just went through.”
American Horror Story is an anthology series, created by Murphy and Brad Falchuk. Its format means that each season is a stand-alone miniseries, featuring a new setting and a new cast of characters. Actors...

The Obelisk Gate
by N. K. Jemisin
448pp (Paperback)
My Rating: 10/10
Amazon Rating: –/5
LibraryThing Rating: 5/5
Goodreads Rating: 4.14/5
It’s astonishing to recall that N. K. Jemisin’s impressive debut novel The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms was released a mere six years ago since it’s difficult to imagine a time when she wasn’t one of my favorite authors. In the last few years, she’s published six more novels—the rest of the Inheritance trilogy, the Dreamblood duology, and now, the first two books in The Broken Earth trilogy—and has proven to be one of the more consistently excellent writers I’ve read. Three of her novels (The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, The Broken Kingdoms, and The Killing Moon) were among my favorites, and now, I’m adding a fourth book by her to that list: her latest release, The Obelisk Gate, which even surpasses these other beloved novels as her best yet.
