As the auditions continue, we haven't seen the last of the firsts - a former artist from The Voice Kids (2014) returns to the stage, the coaches are blown away by the first ever trio, and when the pressure gets too much for one artist, it brings the production to a stop. Another artist from a previous season returns determined to put in a chair-turning performance second time around.

The Battle Rounds kick off with a bang when the coaches join forces to deliver a knockout performance and the first eight battle pairs face the ultimate singing showdown in the battle ring. Among the artists fighting for a spot on their coach's team are two Disney princesses who go head to head for a place on Team Jessie J. After each performance, the coaches decide who wins, who loses and who they will save from elimination.

The final eight battle pairs, including five artists that got all four chairs to turn in the blind auditions, go into the battle ring to fight to remain on their coach's team and advance to the Superbattles. Some favourite artists from the blind auditions lose their battles in shock results, while one team's Save leads to a clash between the coaches.

The eight remaining artists on each team have just one chance to make it to the live shows. Four artists take to the battle ring at once, each singing their own song, with a common theme linking the songs in each quartet. With only two artists from each quartet able to go through, there will be some emotional victories and shock exits.

The one artist from each team that receives more votes advances to the final six. The four remaining artists then sing to keep their place in the competition before facing an instant save from which the two artists that receive the fewest votes are eliminated from the competition. The remaining six artists take to the stage for their next live performances, then face another instant save that will see four of them go through to the grand final. Delta Goodrem performs her latest single and Mike Posner makes a guest appearance.

The final four artists take to the stage for a solo performance and a duet with their coach, then the voting lines are closed and the two artists that receive the fewest votes are eliminated from the competition. The two remaining artists perform an original song before the artist with the most votes is revealed and crowned The Voice of Australia for 2016.
