A member of a commune, one that believes in preparing for a major catastrophe (preppers,) dies unexpectedly inside a locked bunker. Neville has a jet skiing date lined up with Sophie.
A pretty good mystery, it is the stereotypical locked room mystery, it's been some time since we had one, but for this team it's a first.
Darlene is now coming through perhaps as the strongest character now, she's gone from being perhaps the weakest member of the team, who's presence didn't quite make sense, to arguably being the one with the greatest command of the screen. Best episode for DS Thomas also, she had a bit more presence, and a bit more to do.
It was funny in parts, and equally serious in others, mostly revolving around Marlon, that scene where he chatted with The Commissioner, was really rather good. I'd love to know how Catherine can make any money in that bar.
On the debit side, I felt that Robert Webb was underused here, great to see him in an episode, he could have done with a little more to do. I also thought the conclusion was a bit on the weak side.
A few shows seem to be a little off colour at the moment, not naming any names, fortunately Death in Paradise isn't one of them, this was another very good, if unoriginal episode.
Not a classic, but good.
7/10.
