The Kages

Of all the war arc, the battles against the Kages were some of the most interesting parts. Obviously the context is not the best, but at least the creativity and imagination were well noticed. On this episode, Gaara, Onoki and their group battle to seal the 2nd Mizukage. In the last one, the real Naruto, helped by Dodoi, an experienced shinobi from the Hidden Cloud village, and supported by Temari and her group, managed to seal the 3rd Raikage. Here, during the fight, the former Mizukage keeps talking as usual, jokingly and jovially. He shot Onoki with a water bullet, but it's revealed that Gaara actually made a clone of the Tsuchikage to deceive him. The Kages and their group take their chance to seal the enemy, but suddenly, a steam cloud emerges. What they see is explained by Onoki, who is old enough to remember from his childhood what Muu taught him, and the 2nd Mizukage's techniques. The jutsu Steaming Danger Tyranny consists in a clone which resembles Gengetsu as a kid, made from oil and water. The water in the clone is surrounded by a layer of oil and due to this structure, the clone's temperature can easily be altered from cold to hot and vice-versa. When it exerts itself, the outer layer of oil heats up and evaporates the water inside. As the internal pressure grows, the clone expands until it explodes and the water vapour is released. This vapour then cools down as it rises and as a result, turns into hail that cools the clone, causing it to shrink to its original size and start the process again. Onoki also is aware that the original Gengetsu is hidden somewhere else, and asks sensor shinobi to detect him. While the others fight the clone, Gaara tries to seal the Mizukage, but they fail again. The chibi clone is too fast for them and removes the seals where Gengetsu is trapped. The Kage refuses to tell them how to stop him, since he wants them to prove their worth, they must be able to defeat someone who died a lont time ago. The next time the clone attacks, while hail falls around, Gaara deceives him with a sand clone. Later, the clone reduces his speed to Gengetsu's surprise, so Gaara is able to trap the clone with his sand, now wet. When the chibi clone expands to release vapour, it turns into a gold statue. The Kazekage explains to the 2nd Mizukage that the sand clone had gold dust (previously used by his father), and the gold was melted with the vapour inside the chibi clone. That way it became slower. The subsequent process of cooling down with wet sand and hail, turned it into solid gold. Gengetsu praises Gaara for figuring out such idea. He calls him the golden egg of the Kages. Then, Naruto arrives to check up on Gaara's group, but everything is fine. Gengetsu realizes that it was true that Gaara had a friend, but says he seems a fool compared to the Kazekage. Then, he is finally sealed, glad of how funny was the fight. Gaara greets Naruto, while Temari and her group arrive. She organizes the squad, the injured ones to the be medically treated, and the harmless to stay and wait for orders. A reluctant Onoki is taken by Matsuri and a fellow to heal his back. When Gaara asks Naruto where is the original one, given he is a clone, is showed how he is running to help each division, the rest of the clones being distributed. At the Medical division camp, Shizune tells Sakura that no more injured shinobi will be allowed since they cannot recognize if they are allies or Zetsu clones. Sakura doesn't seem to agree, but looks they have no choice. At the other divisions, the confusion and mistrust remains, especially around Shikamaru's group at the coast. At the forest, Kakashi is told that the only remaining reanimated swordsmen to be sealed are Fuguki (Kisame's master) and Mangetsu (Suigetsu's brother). At his hideout, Kabuto is frustrated that the Kages were sealed, but is confident because Muu, the 2nd Tsuchikage escaped from being sealed. Kabuto has a plan for him, the other Kages won enough time. Muu has split himself in two versions of him, one was sealed, the other is moving around.

Overall, the battle was interesting. Creative and interactive by using some chemistry lessons. Gold is heavier than water, and is a very good thermal conductor, like other metals. I think a mistake was to tell that gold can melt with vapour. The vapour should be extremely hot to melt gold, even if it's just gold dust. Anyway, the idea, the concept is applied correctly, with another metal, it could reach the melting point with water vapour at a certain temperature. For all this, the battle was entertaining. Gaara and the others were asked to use their head. Also, Gengetsu's joviality added some comedy to the episodes. Leave the seriousness to Madara Uchiha. Then, Muu's escape was a good idea, it couldn't be so easy to seal each Kage. Still, the war casualties seem to be losing relevance as no one known dies. Because the enemy consists in zombie plants, and reanimated people, the war is not so serious after all. A long time passed since real villains like Sasori, Hidan, Kakuzu or Deidara had to be defeated alive. That's the problem with the context.
