The end scene will blow your doors off
jjconstantin14 October 2023
This whole episode is brilliant from beginning to end. The script written for this has everything in it. The machinations from everyone involved will have you glued to the TV. The end scene will either make your jaw drop to the floor or have you cheering, you decide what you want to happen. I did both. It is sad to know that this series is ending. For what it is worth, the conclusion to this saga will be fantastic, but bittersweet for all the fans of this masterly crafted series. This episode is befitting of being a masterpiece where you wish you were Bobby Axelrod kicking your enemies right in the balls and rightfully enjoying it.

It's a different show with Damien Lewis
nategerard7722 October 2023
This season has been superior to the last one, and is culminating in the return of its best character.

The writers packed the show with movie and music references and while I couldn't get them all they were rewarding. The side story of whether the team of traders would accept the changes was an interesting way to give them some screen time during an episode when what you care about is how our favorite team is going to do what we all know they need to do.

However, what made the episode the best of the season so far is they made us think the story was going in one direction and then dropped progress on us. The musical accompaniment for this change was perfect and fit Axe to a tee (if you know what I mean).

If you've come this far you've been rewarded.

Billions at its best
guysch15 October 2023
Honestly, I felt since Axe had left in season 5 the show was struggling to get back to this kind of quality... But these past few episodes have been absolutely brilliant, the writing is impeccable, rhythm, intrigue, acting, humour, social commentary, everything is there!

What I love about Billions is how accurately it depicts the zeitgeist and the propensity of modern capitalism to feed greed, lust and love of power while at the same time eating people's soul and making even the lucky few actually sad and miserable. Being at the top isn't success when it means plodding away with filthy businesses...

Billions is one of my favourite shows and this episode is definitely up there with the greats I'll revisit often with pleasure!

Hopefully, the season's final episodes will meet the high expectations set since episode one... We know Prince is going down, how though? And who will get down with him. I'm personally worried about Sacker, though her character's complexity makes her a decisive element, it seems her soul has departed never to come back.

There's only one thing to take away from this episode...

Warning: Spoilers
There's only one thing to take away from this episode... SLAYER RIPS! One hell of an episode, The Red Head is back! Frankly, Season 6 was horrible. Sure, it had its moments, but Bobby Axelrod was Billions. Of course, Damian Lewis' departure from the show after season 5 was understandable but it left a gaping hole in the show IMO. I am glad he has returned, and it makes for a wonderful Season 7. A couple of movie references were mentioned in this episode that made me smile. Most notable (to me anyway) was from Full Metal Jacket. By far one of my top 3 favorite movies of all time. I hope you enjoy this episode as I did. Long live Bobby Axelrod! 10/10.

Axe is Back

Warning: Spoilers
So watching season 7 of Billions was like watching something i love end....i kept watching out of loyalty to the past, thinking all along that what i am seeing is junk. First why is Prine such a bad guy? I see Axe in Season 7 but why? He did not seam relevant. I assumed things would end like a lot of things....trying to impress me but not measuring up. I was wrong. I am so impressed with the last two epoxides...maybe it take 8 bad ones to get to this point. I loved watching the real Axe wake up. I love the fact that he is only motivated by who he really loves (not in a bad way)....the loyalty to his inner circle is what i really respect. This was the best episode since "the Frogger". 10/10. I hope the last two are even better....but if not.....at leasy i got to watch S07E09/S07E10 to remind me why i loved the show.......

He's baaaackkkk....

So glad Axe was brought back for this final season! And in such an organic way - it's not like the writers went, "well, we should bring him back for this last season, but how? I know! Let's have a company picnic!" This whole "big bad" fight against Prince and bringing Axe in for it was SO clever. That scene where the two stand off in the square, and when Derek whispers details of his dalliance with Prince's wife - possibly one of the best scenes of the whole show. Very interested to see how this will all play out, especially with the unlikely Suicide Squad coming together to take down the enemy. Axe has always been the whole show and it just feels right that he's back, it wasn't the same without him.

6 Minutes of Greatness
douglasmcbroom14 October 2023
This episode backslid, from last week, and dragged for 54 minutes, then a little magic happened: Damian Lewis went toe-to-toe with Corey Stoll and ate him alive-reminding us why 'Billions' was once great. Do not misunderstand me, I did not say Axe went toe-to-toe with Mike Prince, though, of course, they did, I mean Damian Lewis took Corey Stoll to acting school and wiped Lincoln Center with him! Of course, it took 54 minutes to get us there!

Otherwise, the cultural references have threatened to become the script. Chuck Rhoades, Sr. (Jeffrey DeMunn) always makes me laugh. And Taylor Mason (Asia Kate Dillon) is finally growing on me.

Two episodes left and the stage is set. If we go out with a bang it will be the best we could have hoped for-after the entire season 6, and 8 episodes of 7, full of dreck!

The Great Divide
aduncan-5676916 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Whether purposeful or not, the scene where Axe emasculates Prince highlights the struggle between people of color and the white ruling class. The people of color amass in public, while the white cabal huddle out of the public's eye.

Though the women of the show also struggle for recognition, it's the underlying themes which engage. White, vs. Others, wealth vs. Law, ego vs. Ego, have been played and replayed so many times, there's not much left to surprise. Pity, because most memorable story telling out of Hollywood, almost never surprises. There are exceptions, of course - Big Bang Theories Nobel Prize last episode, for example. So, here's hoping when this show runs its course, let's keep our fingers crossed, there's a satisfying denoument.

Not sure about this episode
Saadsak15 October 2023
It was a good episode, but some of the reviews have gone over the top. It is great to see Axe back but the show was still padded out with obscure cultural references and the reviews seem to be written by the PR department on speed. And I am still not sure what Prince has done wrong, other than there has to be something odd about about anyone who has pots of money and the chance to enjoy an agreeable life, but still wants to go into politics.

But a lot of it comes back to the endless references to obscure TV shows, which makes it seem as though the script writers are preparing for some sort pub quiz marathon.

As said, a good episode, but some of the ratings suggest that the PR department are on overtime.
