I saw this at the Toronto International Film Festival last night and was taken aback by how engaged I could be to watch a couple reminisce about love and loss over the course of its ninety minute runtime.
There is no narrative structure to this film as it's simply three conversations as the characters move through Seoul on foot and by cab. Seoul itself is presented in a muted and subdued way that I've never quite seen before and has the feel of an eavesdropper on the couple as they talk about their lives.
There is a lot to digest from this film and I suspect that I'll be chewing this over for some time yet. There is one question that the director never answered though, even in the Q&A following the film: was Admiral Yi right handed or left handed?
