I usually don't watch 'The Simpsons' but i somehow found this episode on demand for free and sense i didn't have anything else to watch i turned this on. And surprisingly this is pretty good actually. While the opening dragged when they got onto the first story which makes fun of 'The Cat in the Hat' things get funny. I donno why but i found it well timed and just pretty clever. What with all the rhyming even though at times i couldn't understand what Bart and Lisa were saying but that was only a minor issue. The second story was with Bart getting his head cut off and having it put on Lisa's body. While i found this one a bit less thought out it wasn't horrible, and was pretty entertaining. The last story was this thing about circus freaks and to em that one was the best. Homor was excellently funny and that part was wells scripted. Loved the ending segment funny as heck. The animation and voice work as always was excellent, and the jokes weren't to bad. I will have to watch another episode of 'The Simpsons' not a bad show after all!

The intro was the best

Warning: Spoilers
I am a big fan of The Simpsons, and I consider the first 10 seasons as the golden era for sure. Nevertheless, I still look out for all Treehouse of Horrors (or Treehouses of Horror) regardless of the season.

The opening of Treehouse of Horror XXIV (that's 24 for those unfamiliar with roman numerals), was conceived by famous movie director Guillermo del Toro, was absolutely superb and one of the best Simpsons openings for sure.

But as for the three segments, well I don't know if they were captivating for sure and it seemed quite pro-forma for the Treehouse of Horrors, but one can forgive the writers.

Simpsons Did it... Three times already?

24 Treehouses of Horror... 24 years of parodies. Every year we wait for this... how can i call them? masterpieces of black comedy? This year, the hype was great, specially after YouTube shared the awesome intro. Everyone talks about the intro. Yes, its great, yes in HD is mind-blowing. Yes...

But the rest? The first segment is kinda lovely: a parody of Dr. Seuss works, funny, but not that memorable, the narration is outstanding, but the imagery is pretty dull... The second segment stands as one of the worst ToH segments by far. Do you remember that last two minutes of Treehouse of Horror II? That gag was converted to a full segment... Why? It was funny 22 years ago, but now is almost irritating. We had a lot of horror/science fiction movies every year,,,and the writers only came to this?

The third segment, while pretty interesting at first (it was inspired by cult classic Freaks), its, once again, Moe taking revenge/satisfaction on Homer, because his love/desire/relation with Marge. We had that last year...we had that in ToH XX... Why again? We have hundreds of characters. I'm not saying that they have to make a segment with Üter as the main character, but, they could experiment...why not? (Everyone remembers Üter...right?)

To think abut too: since the ToH XIV, only one person writes the segments, when before that, you had THREE writers, one per segment. I think, part of the life/soul of this episodes it's to experiment with alternate jokes, situations that are bizarre enough to not be included in the "normal" episodes. So, bring ALL your writing talented people to the game, DON'T put just one person to think about the ideas,,, or the next year we will have "Dial W for Werewolves" or "The Kingdom of Crystal Do'h"...or worse: "The Raven"... C'Mon Simpsons writers: this is your chance to make the Halloween specials shine again... don't waste it....

One of the Best and Surprisingly Scariest Treehouse of Horrors there's been in a While,
lesleyharris3022 April 2014
Treehouse of Horror 24 is a fantastic Simpsons with three very well written segments and also a very good opening and a ton of very funny scenes. My favourite part of this Treehouse of Horror was without a doubt the Dr Seuss parody,it was a very clever parody to the classic children's books, and I think the weakest story was the second one,but I enjoyed all three segments. The opening was extremely impressive and without a doubt the most terrifying the series has ever done, and it's no surprise as it was made by Guillermo Del Toro.Treehouse of Horror 24 is a great Halloween episode and fans of the previous ones will certainly be pleased with.

In the twenty fourth annual Halloween special,a Cat in the Hat-like character visits the Simpsons kids on Halloween,Lisa is forced to share her body with Bart and Moe might finally have Marge for himself in a circus freak show.

I love this one

The intro starts with a reference to Night Of The Living Dead with a lot zombies and shooters, then chief wiggum turns into a cyclops which a reference to the voyage of Sinbad, then we see Bart Simpson writting all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy which is a reference to The Shining then we see reference to Hellboy, then Homer turns into an alien from Blade 2, then we see the buried version of the 1987 Simpsons and Godzilla then Marge is Mimic a movie from Guillermo Del Toro and Lisa with The Phantom Of The Opera, and we see different treehouse of horror such as xix, i, xiii and ix we see cthulhu and a final reference to Pan's Labyrinth, the first segment starts with a reference Oh The Places You'll D'oh which is a reference to The Cat In The Hat and Oh The Places You'll Love, the second segment Dead And Shoulders after Bart gets his head cutted off and lives with the body of Lisa Simpson and the last segment Freaks No Geeks which is a reference to the movie Freaks after Homer becomes one of them. Then the ending sounds like How I Met Your Mother and the ending sounds like a mixture of treehouse of horror xix and xvi from 2008 and 2005 and Gracie Films says one of us.

Amazing intro, terrible episode
Bigg_Bad8 October 2013
The intro directed by guillermo del toro is amazing, it really captures the feeling of halloween and the best Treehouse of horror episodes. What I really want is a full length episode of this quality.

That is not the case how ever, all three segments are boring, with the first being the best and most original, the second is horrible and is too much of a rip-off of a previous episode, the third is just boring.

I really miss when the Treehouse of Horror specials were centered around classic horror, like ghosts, vampires, zombies and such and I realize it's hard to keep it interesting if you just reuse the same ideas over and over, but when it's a halloween special I just think it should have a scary theme and there are still plenty of great horror movies to take inspiration from.
