The scene where Robert Shaw gets eaten in “Jaws” is one of the most thrilling moments in movie history. After all of Steven Spielberg’s virtuoso framing and cool ’70s Hitchcock scare tactics, the shark’s big-mouthed consumption of a man who fully deserves to be eaten had a shockingly raw “Look, there it is!” exploitation-film brazenness. (One not inaccurate way to describe “Jaws” would be to call it the greatest B-movie ever made.) “The Flood,” an alligator-attack movie that’s also a violent prison-break thriller, takes its cue from that scene. Set in a backwater Louisiana police station during a hurricane, the film isn’t shy about serving up its big, nasty human-torso-meets-jaws moments. It’s basically a slasher movie with teeth.
The alligator thriller, of course, was always a bargain-basement knockoff of “Jaws” — literally, since the alligators are inevitably slithering out of some basement somewhere. But it was...

eOne is prepping an adaptation of Janice Hallett’s The Twyford Code – the first fruits of the studio’s deal with BAFTA-winning writer-director Paul Andrew Williams. The book is written via automatic transcriptions of recordings made by a former prisoner determined to discover what happened to his teacher. eOne will co-produce with former Sky Studios drama boss Cameron Roach’s Rope Ladder Fiction, with Williams directing and eOne handling global rights. “Janice Hallett’s ingenious second novel has rightly gained a fanbase of epic proportions,” said Sharon Hughff, eOne’s Creative Director, Scripted Television, UK. Deadline revealed eOne’s deal with Williams last year and the Broadchurch director is forging scripted TV shows for all platforms.

Cleopatra Entertainment has announced that they will be giving Frost, a “chilly thriller” directed Brandon Slagle (Attack of the Unknown), a Digital and Blu-ray release on October 11th – and to help start building the hype, we’re proud to share the Exclusive first look at the film’s trailer! You can check it out in the embed above.
Scripted by Robert Thompson from a story by James Cullen Bressack, Frost centers on
a young woman and her father who have to fight for survival after being stranded on a remote mountainside during a storm.
The synopsis doesn’t mention (but you can see in the trailer) that the situation is made even scarier and more desperate by the fact that the young woman in the story also happens to be pregnant. The film stars Vernon Wells – who counts The Road Warrior and Commando among his 240+ screen acting credits – and Devanny Pinn,...

It's a cliché as old as the musical genre: If a filmmaker wishes to use a handy piece of cinematic shorthand in order to communicate that a character is a bad, scary, violence-prone person, then heavy metal will be played on the soundtrack.
Heavy metal as a descriptor first came into vogue in the mid-1970s to describe the sound of louder, "heavier" types of rock coming from bands like Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. Throughout the '70s, bands like Motörhead, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Saxon would push the genre forward, earning it a generation of hardcore fans and no small amount of hand-wringing from concerned parents and uptight "moral majority" groups (a response that was intentionally sought). Like all popular genres, heavy metal eventually fractured into various movements and dominant aesthetics; The genre could now be said to include bands as far removed from one another as Stryper and Cradle of Filth.

It’s completely understandable that Sharon Tate’s sister, Debra, was extremely critical of Quentin Tarantino’s plans for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. After all, the history of big screen adaptations of the Manson murders hasn’t been great – see 2014’s tasteless House of Manson or the 2017’s bottom-of-the-barrel Wolves at the Door.

Imagine someone in your family was brutally murdered and then for the next half-century you were constantly reminded of her horrible death, with filmmakers lining up to dramatize it on the big screen. You’d be pretty pissed off, right?
Now you’re in the shoes of Debra Tate – sister of Manson family victim Sharon Tate – who is decidedly unimpressed with Quentin Tarantino’s eagerly anticipated Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, which is reportedly about Tate’s neighbour during the Manson murders.
In a recent interview with TMZ, she came down hard on the film, saying:

She went on to specifically criticize stars Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, accusing them of “throwing all their social responsibility to the wind.

In the world of celebrity (applied here in the most broadest sense) deaths none may have been more invited this year than the passing of the infamous Charles Manson. The cult leader and orchestrator of what would be known as the Manson Family Murders finally succumbed to old age in November. Our friends at Breakthrough Entertainment have secured worldwide distribution rights to James Buddy May's docudrama Charles Manson: The Final Words. What with our fascination with mass murderers and psycho killers, spurred on by Manson's death and the success of shows like Mindhunters and Making a Murderer, this will surely be a highly sought after film containing the last words of Manson. Quentin Tarantino and Star Trek are two things we had never thought about in the same sentence. And yet here we are.
Indeed, only three days have passed since Tarantino delivered his initial pitch to Paramount and J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: Episode IX) and already, Deadline brings word that the wheels are officially in motion. The illustrious filmmaker, who is still plotting a ’60s period drama known only as #9, will presumably bow out after his contribution to the Star Trek franchise, given Tarantino has always vowed to retire after his tenth directorial effort. And yes, it’ll be rated R, which ensures that Qt’s Trek movie really will go boldly where no one has gone before.
Paramount and Abrams reportedly agreed to that condition earlier in the week, when Quentin Tarantino hashed out ideas with three high-profile screenwriters: Mark L. Smith (The Revenant), Lindsey Beer (Chaos Walking, Godzilla Vs. Kong...

History usually remembers Gary Hinman as the first official “Manson family” victim — killed in July 1969 by a few of Charles Manson’s cult followers at his behest. But Hinman’s life was far more important to his relatives than his death.
“It is too bad he is known as a victim of Charles Manson, but that is not how the family remembers him,” cousin Charlotte Hood tells People after the news that Manson died Sunday, at age 83.
“I saw something on the Internet that he was very, very ill, and it is about time,” Hood says.

Long before he was Walter White or Heisenberg, Bryan Cranston was just a boy hanging out in southern California. That's where he and his cousin stumbled upon the infamous Charles Manson and his cult only months before the group would commit some of the most infamous murders in American history. The death of Charles Manson brought up a lot of disturbing memories for Bryan Cranston. The 61-year-old actor took to Twitter on Monday to recall an incident that happened when he was around 13 years old.
“Hearing Charles Manson is dead, I shuddered,” he wrote. “I was within his grasp just one year before he committed brutal murder in 1969. Luck was with me when a cousin and I went horseback riding at the Span Ranch, and saw the little man with crazy eyes whom the other hippies called Charlie.”
Manson orchestrated several murders in 1969 after Cranston’s alleged encounter with him, including the killing of the then-pregnant Sharon Tate.
"I said a prayer, shed a tear, stuck a flower under my cross in my bedroom and emailed Roman [Polanski]," Sharon’s sister, Debra Tate, told New York Daily News. Polanski was married to Sharon at the time of her murder.
