I Survived A Serial Killer
a_baron30 November 2014
While it is better to survive a serial killer than not survive one, this is an experience no one - woman or man - is ever likely to forget. This one-off documentary speaks to a number of people who did precisely that.

First up is the family who fought back against Adam Leroy Lane who broke into their home but bit off more than he could chew in the personage of especially the teenage daughter and the man of the house, the latter of whom managed to restrain him until the police arrived.

Next is the young couple who survived Derrick Todd Lee who is thought to have murdered at least seven women. Michele Chapman and her boyfriend escaped with severe physical injuries in addition to any psychological damage.

Finally, Travis Forbes, who has been the subject of at least one other documentary. Although Forbes is not a serial killer, this is due more to his bad luck than to his good judgment. The suffering of the woman who survived him continues to this day, and is indescribable. Raped, beaten, strangled, and doused with bleach before her home was set on fire with her inside, Lydia Tillman who also suffered a stroke, had the dubious pleasure of not only rebuilding her life but of living to see him sentenced to life without parole for the murder of another young woman. Of all the people who appear in this documentary, her testimony is by far the most moving.
