Is Pernell Harris, the crooked judge who suddenly undergoes a religious conversion in Amazon’s Hand of God, losing his mind or tapping into the divine?
It’s a complicated question — and not one that’s answered by the end of the drama’s first episode (which, along with the rest of Season 1, premiered on the streaming video service Friday).
We want to know what you thought of the premiere, which was created by Ben Watkins (Burn Notice) and directed by Marc Forster (World War Z). But first, a quick rundown of the episode:

Despite Hand of God‘s Old Testament-esque title… and the presence of a pastor as one of its main characters… and the fact that its protagonist thinks a higher power is communicating with him via signs and wonders… the new Amazon drama is no holy roller, cast member Garret Dillahunt says.
“It’s oddly not a show about religion as much as it is about man’s interpretation of it, or twisting it to his own ends,” says the Raising Hope alum, who plays Kd, a former white supremacist whose introduction to Christianity hasn’t completely bled him of his violent tendencies.

As it turns out, however, he does have one major issue with the film . and that.s the fact that his character is killed off so early in the movie. Currently promoting his Amazon pilot Sneaky Pete, Cranston was recently a guest on the Nerdist Podcast, and it was while discussing his character.s surprisingly early check-out time that the actor expressed his major issue with Godzilla. He wasn.t even blunt about it in any respect, simply stating, That character dying at that time was a mistake. It was. It was a mistake. I knew it when I read it. After debuting its fifth pilot season earlier this year, Amazon is following up with a mini-season that includes two pilots. It has shared the first episodes of Casanova and Sneaky Pete and has welcomed viewer feedback on both of them.

Watch theLiar, liar ... Giovanni Ribisi's pants are on fire in this new trailer for "Sneaky Pete," a drama pilot that will debut on Amazon this Friday.
"Sneaky Pete" is a drama co-created by "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston and "House" creator David Shore. It stars Ribisi as a con man who steals his cellmate Pete's identity when he gets out of prison. He shows up at Pete's grandparents' home and starts working for their bail bond business.
Watch the trailer.
Cranston himself shows up as a menacing, but "reasonable" man who demands "Pete" pay him money within seven days. Margo Martindale also stars as Pete's grandma.
The pilot will stream on Amazon Prime Instant, where viewers can vote on whether it should be made into a full series. With such a great cast and an interesting set-up, it's hard to see "Sneaky Pete" not getting the greenlight.

Amazon Studios has set the release dates for two of its original series’ pilots. The debut episodes of Sneaky Pete and Casanova will drop on the Instant Video streaming platform on August 7, 2015.
On that date, both the Sneaky Pete and Casanova pilots will be available to all Amazon Prime Instant Video subscribers in the U.S., UK, and Germany. Soon afterwards, the pilots will be joined by others in Amazon’s recent round of its pilot program. Prime users will then be able to vote on their favorite pilots, which Amazon will greenlight as full series orders.

The Amazon original series’ story centers around a released-from-prison conman, played by Giovanni Ribisi, who takes his old cellmate Pete’s identity and gets sucked into his family’s bail bond business.

Amazon Instant Video may have a new pilot to test with viewers. The streaming video-on-demand service is reportedly in talks to pick up the drama pilot Sneaky Pete from executive producers and co-writers Bryan Cranston (of Breaking Bad fame) and David Shore (House M.D.).
Inside sources told Variety, who originally broke the story, Amazon is considering adding Sneaky Pete, originally produced for CBS, to its next round of pilots. Adding the title to the mix would allow Amazon Prime Instant Video subscribers to decide whether or not they want the pilot to be developed into a full series.
However, if Amazon does pick up Sneaky Pete, the streaming service would be following the practices of competitors Netflix and Hulu. Both those video subscriptions routinely pick up cancelled shows from traditional television networks (as was the case with Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and The Mindy Project).

The fate of Bryan Cranston & David Shore’s pilot Sneaky Pete may soon be (partially) in viewers’ hands. Amazon is in negotiations to pick up the drama pilot, originally developed by CBS, and put it on its platform as it does with its own pilots. I hear the original pilot would undergo some tweaking and possible minor reshoots before being made available on Amazon. Taking into account viewing data and customer feedback, the streaming service would make a decision on a…...

Amazon is in negotiations with Sony Pictures TV to pick up the scrapped CBS drama pilot "Sneaky Pete" which they plan to put on their Amazon Prime Instant Video platform where they will invite viewers to weigh on its merits as a potential series.
"Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston and legendary "House" and "Family Law" producer David Shore serve as co-writers and executive producers on the project which follows a conman (Giovanni Ribisi) who assumes his former cellmate’s identity when he gets out of prison. He winds up working for the bail bond business run by his newly adopted family.
Marin Ireland, Margo Martindale, Libe Barer, Peter Gerety and Shane McRae co-star. The deal has not been finalized, but if it works it means producers of failed pilots may have an alternate option if commissioning networks decide against picking up their shows to series.

It is standard practice for studios to try and shop broadcast pilots that didn’t go forward. In the case of Bryan Cranston and David Shore’s drama Sneaky Pete, which just got a pass from CBS, I hear there have been incoming inquiries, with multiple cable networks expressing interest. It is too early to talk specifics, but it won’t be surprising if AMC is among the nets that would like to take a peek, given its relationship with Cranston, star of its hit series Breaking Bad…...

CBS has started to make calls on its bubble series. I hear midseason drama Battle Creek has been cancelled. There is no official word yet but CBS’ other bubble freshmen, drama Stalker and comedy The McCarthys, also are not expected to come back. There had been some talk that one of two CBS projects from David Shore and Sony TV, freshman Battle Creek or pilot Sneaky Pete, might go for next season. That appears not to be happening. I hear CBS also has passed on Sneaky Pete,…...

CBS on Friday night ordered another two drama pilots, each with interesting pedigrees.
Having already made a production commitment to the project, CBS officially greenlit a pilot for Sneaky Pete, which is being written and exec-produced by House creator David Shore and Breaking Bad Emmy winner Bryan Cranston.
The series follows a thirtysomething con man who upon leaving prison assumes the identity of a cellmate and then hides from debtors by toiling for his “new” family’s bail bond business. There, he uses his prowess to take down bad guys worse than himself, all while his pretty “cousin” grows suspicious of his motives.
