Nice Christian movie
dejays-6585323 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I just watched the movie and I really liked it. It is a movie I would show at church or to a youth group. I especially liked the ending, finding out that it was a true story was awesome. There was only one thing about the whole movie that truly bothered me. Why oh why did the lead actress have to wear stuffing. It was completely unnecessary. If the actress needed to be heavier then someone else should have played the part. At first I thought, where is this going? Is she supposed to lose weight in the end?, but no you just wanted a beautiful plus-size girl to look more... plus-size? Other than that this is a good Christian movie and I do recommend it.

Bunk'd out of Cyrano
bkoganbing19 May 2019
Sarah LeJeune stars in this Christian film as an overweight young girl who works as a dental hygienist who's taken a lot of barbs for her weight. She also works at a Christian kids camp run by her church where she's crushing out big time on a hunk played by Judah Duncan who is in her church and is another camp counselor.

Duncan too has some issues he's dealt with. LeJeune gets to know him also from a dating profile on the internet. She has one too, but she uses a friend's picture on her's.

The plot is straight from the Disney Channel series Bunk'd out of Cyrano de Bergerac. I wish we could all get the people we crush out on, it would make life easier.

It's a nice story, but really does one have to be a born again to have some empathy for Ms. LeJeune?

I kept waiting for Kirk Cameron to show up...

...peeling a banana to demonstrate how life works. Instead I got a lead character walking around with a stuffed pillow in her shirt ala Beyoncé to add some bulk and clumsiness. If you want to watch the Christian version of Mean Girls, this movie's for you. And if you like it and recommend it to life-forms other than photosynthesizing plants, we can't be friends.

I thought it was satire; I wish it had been

Warning: Spoilers
It was about a half-hour into this film that I realized this was set in a church, because I couldn't tell that the characters were Christians. And when I did realize it, I wondered whether this was a satirical critique of megachurch culture, or if this really was megachurch culture in a film produced by a megachurch. It has several staples of that culture: a focus on self-esteem, pervasive worldliness, and Bible verses narcigetically ripped way out of context. The message I see in that culture, and this film, is that Christianity is basically about feeling better about yourself. The one character who got "saved" doesn't need to change anything in that church.

"Chubby Chaser"
DeusWar14 February 2020
A deeply profound, potentially emotional, roller-coaster of a film dealing with the complex moral intricacies of "Chubby Chasing" in a modern day western society.

It's a true story.
jrd-1393411 July 2019
This movie is a true story about a woman in our church. We try to make movies that will help not just Christians, but anyone who watches them to be better people. Cast and crew are volunteers. Yes, the movie has flaws, but movies with $100 million plus budgets do to. This movie is funny, but has a serious message in it. Watch the movie and enjoy.

Just finished watching this on Pureflix. I like that it's based a true story, though you don't get the true end of the story until the credits start to roll. Definitely worth the wait.

Typical of lower budget faith films, you might catch yourself thinking a scene or a line could have been better, but that's in some way the point of this film -- it's not the superficial things that really matter.

Watch it for the story, discover for yourself the true glory.

Simple message

Good message. Good movie. I learned something during this enjoyable movie. Consider the possibility that others are looking at the light shining from within you, and not your outward facade.

good

Good movie overall. Really not much bad to say about it. There is a young man always remarking about good looking women but its nothing distasteful. The storyline was very good and both of my teen daughters enjoyed the movie as did my husband and I.

Message everyone should see
rhoda_s_girl13 February 2020
Although it's obviously a low budget and not your typical fancy free I feel like it had a lot of heart and a message that is so needed and timely...Yes I wasn't expecting the main girl to be quite that much weight but as someone who was the geeky girl with horrible classes, no fashion, or social skills whatsoever I know what to feels like when don't fit in cause not your typical "pretty" girl. But back to the movie- the main leads really did good in their part and I even felt like tearing up. It so rightly shows how we're supposed to treat other people and how we shouldn't worry about being "perfect" or the typical popular person today. It is a small budget movie but definitely should give it a chance...

Predictable but Beautiful

By humility we are exalted and pride comes before a fall. That is the basic premise of this film and I loved it.

Really enjoyed this movie
keepthefaith-566496 January 2021
Loved this movie. The only reason why I didn't give it 10 stars because at times it was frustrating to watch. In the movie, Allison, is so amazing, and it was just frustrating watching her struggle with her self esteem. I just wanted to shout, believe in yourself girl!! However, this movie is relatable, as that we all focus on our flaws and not how incredible God has made us to be.
