Is this a joke?
ttjlanglois12 December 2019
I started watching thinking it would be a great real estate show but instead I got really bad actors, fake fights between clients, slimy agents and the list goes on. It must be a joke!

Worse actors ever!
lindacampbell-071613 December 2019
I love real estate shows, however this has to be the worse I've ever watched. Yuppies pretending to be sophisticated! It's horrific!

Literally the worst show in the world
mylescook-488596 December 2019
This is by far the worst show on planet earth. I'm honestly not sure if this is a complete joke or if they actually tried to make a real tv show. It's so bad I had to create an account just to write this review. I'm still in shock. I.....I just can't believe what I'm seeing. SO bad.

Most annoying people
realitycheck4you10 February 2020
I don't care what the realtors drive or want to see them shop for clothes. Seeing the houses is the only good part of the show. The rest of the show is just the realtors having painfully fake/staged conversations. I just want to screen at the screen SHUT UP AND SHOW ME THE HOUSES! They don't show the houses enough. The realtors are incredibly annoying - not likable people. Instead of focusing on the annoying realtors just show the houses ugh

This show is cringe worthy to watch
michaelrobertont23 June 2020
The real estate agents put on this pathetic cringe worthy performance, that's awkward and hard to watch. They're clearly pretending to be something they're not. It's so artificial, I'm doubtful that the sellers are even real. I would give this a 0 out of 10

Terrible
rdzale16 September 2021
Just terrible! I love real estate! This is horrible.. if they are agents I get why they are terrible actors, but the soap opera part and the direction of the series (or none direction) is horrible!

Spectacular Houses!
HayleyLevine6 January 2022
I love real estate TV shows and this one is my favourite. The houses are gorgeous and a perfect mix of traditional and modern. I especially loved the episode with the house from the show Schitt's Creek - that was too cool!

Also worth mentioning that it's awesome seeing a real estate reality show that is filmed in Canada since the majority are American.

Self Parody Provides Insight Into a Sick Society
strawberry-5810612 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Top Million Dollar Agent is the schlockiest of "property" shows. The agents come off not unlike children who found their parents' closet and dressed up in clothes to play adult.

If the credits are to be believed, some assistance for this show was provided by an Ontario body of some sort. Evidently this show gives Ontario some sort of visibility in the morass of small-screen entertainment.

If you want insight into how ignorant real estate agents can be, just listen to them (not watching the screen, just listen to their words) describing a property as they walk potential customers through room by room. So many times the sentences (if indeed they finish a sentence) are nonsense.

The quest to appear super-rich is one of the great sicknesses of contemporary society, and this show certainly exposes how shallow that aspect of our society has become.

Yes, it is probably the worst show I've ever seen
luminaire114 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The previous reviews of this show are correct. Self-parody, schlocky, painful, and fake are all terms used to describe what can charitably be called a horrible train wreck. Like a train wreck, a multi-car pileup on the highway, or a public execution, though, you may find it difficult to avoid watching it, even if for a minute.

If you need some unintentional humour at the end of a bad day, this may be your show.

One thing to note: the show's description says it is "based on the lives" of Toronto realtors. I'm not sure if that was there originally. In other words, it is completely fake, except for the agents themselves.

And on that note, the agents cannot seem to speak without using scripted lines. This is extremely curious, as other reality "real estate" shows use real people that actually seem to be able to speak without using a teleprompter, e.g. Luxe Listings, Love it or List it, Property Brothers, and so on.

These people deliver stock, cardboard lines with the same wooden delivery style every episode. I fail to see how these agents add anything to the home buying experience with lines like: "look at the attention to detail...over here, you've got your fireplace, over here, you've got your family area...here's the beautiful master bedroom with balcony, and you can have your coffee in the morning overlooking that view." Gack. One exception is Inez, who seems like she knows what she's talking about and comes across as a real person.

The first season seemed somewhat "real" but we were skeptical, so we looked up some of the people listed in the credits. Sure enough, they were actors of varying sorts.

The homes themselves are a mixed bag. It's interesting to see some of the places in the GTA and environs that we've always wondered about - the multimillion dollar mansion. Some are breathtaking. A lot are actually pretty ghastly. There's no accounting for taste, but I cannot believe how awful some of the decorating is in the homes of the super rich. If I had this much money, I would hire an interior designer. Quite a few look like mausoleums or funeral homes. "Grotesque" often comes to mind.

The other big thing to note is this series is just one big ad. It looks like it eventually was sponsored by major homebuilders as it ends up in later seasons showcasing a lot of homes built by certain companies. Then, various sponsors just "show up" in the show to talk about interior design, landscaping, and so on. Yeah. Also, we get hair salons, restaurants, men's clothing stores, and other various businesses written into the show.

In the first season, they do this by writing in mini "real-life stories" about the various agents and their activities which have no connection to real estate whatsoever. They are distractions (ads) that make you think "What the @#$% is going on?"

These go from distractions to full-blown storylines, stupefyingly mindless in their execution. By the third season, the writer(s) seemed to glom on to the idea of including "mini-dramas" where couples have huge blowouts (in front of two cameras) about which house to buy, and there is a memorable line about realtors having to wear many hats, including "marriage counsellor." Ha ha ha ah ha. Of course, there is no counselling happening here, just "let's step back and take a breath..." This is where we started to get really suspicious because the "acting" is so bad that it seemed like they could barely keep from laughing. And within 30 seconds ... all is resolved!

Another mini-story involved one of the agents becomes "involved" with a client who happens to be a model (probably an actor too) and jets off to various spots in Southeast Asia looking for expensive properties for Canadian clients on the side. Huh? Does this happen a lot? If my realtor was doing that, I'd fire them. The real estate in the area is interesting; the storyline will want to make you stick forks into both your eyes.

The awfulness grows season by season. The agents rotate in and out, so by the time we hit season 4, we only have 2 "originals" and several other newbies. Unbelievably, the execution gets worse. The homes in season 4 are mix of beautiful and jaw-droppingly ghastly. So many of them looked like they used the Disney Haunted House ride as exemplars.

Why is Canadian television so horrible?

Enlightening Program
renomaster10 January 2022
Top Million Dollar Agent is a genuinely fun and informative program. I appreciate the episodes that take place abroad as it really gives a clear vision of how far the Canadian dollar goes in Asia.

Beautifully Filmed
donaldbilson18 January 2022
I'm American and it's fascinating to see what real estate looks like in Canada. What really strikes me about this show is how beautifully filmed everything is. The properties are clearly spectacular, but the way they're filmed, makes them even more exquisite. I also enjoy the changing real estate agents and the variety of home buyers. Would recommend this show to anyone who loves unique homes and can appreciate breathtaking cinematography.

One of my favourite real estate shows. Some of these houses are truly incredible! Makes me wish I was a Top Million Dollar Buyer! I'm also a big fan of the agents, especially Mike and his amazing shoe and car collection!

Excellent FIlming
vmucoll28 June 2022
The houses showcased on the film are beautiful! I didn't know Canada had such beautiful estates. Very informative; and I like that it is a more professional show instead of those dramatic real estate shows like Selling Sunset.
