Ellie Goulding has a magnificent voice. She sounds like an Irish fairy, if such exotic sprites existed, they'd sound like Ellie Goulding. When I first encountered Ellie, I thought she was too unreal sounding, too much of that which I now thinks makes her great. But I soon changed my mind. All I need to say is BURN. I'm a big BURN fan. She is wonderful, reminds me of Donna Lewis.
Which is why I'm gonna sail into her a bit. I expected more from BEATING HEART. I bought a compilation DVD with this track included, and I trusted it would be a great hit with me, I didn't download a peek, no spoiling of expected surprise, otherwise what's the point?
Your sound is fantastic, Ellie. No complaints there. And I do appreciate that this is in collaboration with your song used in DIVERGENT. (Hah, that movie that rips off THE HUNGER GAMES, which is so overrated, HUNGER GAMES, I mean, but DIVERGENT isn't any better, really, but okay, that's another story, see my review history) But your music video relies too heavily on that, and there isn't that much new for me here. Okay, you are one pretty lady, Ellie, you don't need me to tell you that, and your voice soars beautifully, I had it on real loud, really, really loud, and you sound m-a-g-i-c-a- l, but overall, you could do so much better, oh so much. I wish I had your BURN video on DVD. This one rates a poor second to it.
Hilary Duff released BEAT OF MY HEART some years ago. She was very young, very tender age, and looked even younger. Your similar title draws comparison, and I wish you rather tried to copy something like that kid did. To really thrill your fans. Now, I'm not saying this one didn't thrill your fans. I'm sure lots of them love it. But I'm saying I expected something superlative from you.
