2005 was one of the most disappointing years of Bionicle and this animation didn't really help. The premise is sound - the mutated Toa Hordika find the Avohkii to link the prequel storyline and the main storyline. However, the execution is very lackluster. The animation is a poor prototype of the cel shaded 3D animation that would later be perfected by the Piraka. The characters lack the expression and personality that they have in the feature films. The battles are redundant and too straightforward.
