The hate for each of these projects has gained as much of a cult following as the shows themselves. But how much of it is justified?
Here are seven shows that are much better than critics and audiences say they are.
7. Imposters (2017)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 93%
Where to watch: Prime Video, Fandango at Home
The list begins with Imposters, a well-crafted dark comedy about a con artist who seduces victims and takes their money, which, unlike many of the following shows, is currently receiving warm reviews. Unfortunately, the ratings were so low at the time of its release that the show was canceled after only two seasons.
6. Dark Matter (2015)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 89%
Where to watch: The CW
Dark Matter is often compared to a low-budget rip-off of The Expanse since both premiered in 2015. However, the show in question raised equally interesting ethical questions about the identity of the protagonists, and coupled with some good action scenes,...

In a world replete with quick-spreading disinformation and the subsequent, dangerous proliferation of kooky conspiracy theories, the 2021 animated series "Inside Job" — created by Shion Takeuchi (a writer on "Gravity Falls" and "Disenchantment") — was perfectly timed. "Inside Job" posited that every single conspiracy theory you've ever heard — whether it be Reptilians, JFK, the Mandela effect, the flat Earth, or the faked moon landing — were all 100 percent real. Clones were out there, severed heads were being kept alive in labs, and aliens regularly visited Earth. Just like in "The X-Files," ordinary citizens weren't allowed access to this knowledge.
Earth's conspiracies were overseen by a mysterious underground organization called Cognito, Inc., one of six major shadow governments secretly in charge of the world. The other five were the Catholic Church, the Illuminati, Atlantis, the Reptoids, and the Juggalos (tee hee). The central joke of "Inside Job" was that Cognito, Inc. was staffed by flawed,...

Paltrow has had a few high profile relationships during her time in the spotlight. She’s well known for having gone out with Ben Affleck and Brad Pitt back in the day. In Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, she touched on her relationship with the two stars, even comparing their skills in bed.
“That is really hard. Because Brad was like the sort of major chemistry, love of your life, kind of, at the time,” Paltrow said. “And then Ben was, like, technically excellent.”
She also nearly married Pitt at the time. But she backed out due to her own lack of life experience.

The millennial women-led series is dead. Long live the millennials.
It wasn’t exactly surprising when Freeform’s beloved critically acclaimed “Single Drunk Female” was canceled this month after just two seasons and immediately pulled from Hulu. Sure, Freeform touted the sitcom as the highest-rated original comedy during the New York City Season 2 premiere before the series returned with all new episodes on Hulu in April. But its cancellation is just one of the many reminders that networks don’t invest long-term in women-fronted shows that focus on “messy” millennial women.
While we pour one out for “Single Drunk Female,” it’s best to trace the series back to its roots with Lena Dunham and executive producer Jenni Konner’s explosively disruptive HBO series “Girls,” which celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2022. After that massive hit, why has TV abandoned the generation of people who grew up watching “Girls”?

Taylor Jenkins Reid is currently taking Hollywood by storm and honestly, it was only a matter of time. Bookworms have become very familiar with the buzzy author over the years, as her most recent novels debut to fanfare and continue to top bestsellers lists. But lately, Jenkins Reid has also been making waves in the world of streaming TV.
The series adaptation of her novel "Daisy Jones & The Six" is currently airing on Amazon's Prime Video, with two more of her novels slated for adaptation at Hulu ("Malibu Rising") and Netflix ("The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo"). She also has a romcom on the way, with the book-to-movie adaptation of "One True Loves" expected to arrive in theaters this April. All the while, Jenkins has been hard at work penning yet another project: "My Ex-Friend's Wedding."

Deadline reports that news of her death was announced Friday, Sept. 23 by her family via agent David Shaul.

Louise Fletcher, best known for her Academy Award-winning role as Nurse Ratched in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," has died at the age of 88. Fletcher's family confirmed to Deadline through her agent that she died in her sleep at her home in Montdurausse, France, on Friday.
Fletcher was born to deaf parents in Birmingham, Alabama, on July 23, 1934. She learned to speak and act from her aunt at the age of 8, and attended the University of North Carolina before a cross-country trip left her marooned in L.A. (per Variety). There, she became involved in acting in a professional capacity, appearing on television in guest spots on shows like "The Untouchables," "Wagon Train," and "Perry Mason." However, her filmography soon went dark in 1963 with the film "A Gathering of Eagles."

Louise Fletcher, the sweet actress from Alabama who won an Academy Award for her turn as the heartless Nurse Ratched — one of the most reviled characters in movie history — in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, has died. She was 88.

Exclusive: Britt Robertson has been tapped as a series regular on ABC’s new hourlong series The Rookie: Feds, headlined by Niecy Nash-Betts.
Co-created by Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter, The Rookie: Feds stars Niecy Nash-Betts as Simone Clark, the oldest rookie in the FBI Academy. The spinoff was introduced in a two-part arc on Season 4 of The Rookie, where Officer John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and the LA division of the FBI enlist the help of Simone Clark when one of her former students is a suspect in a terror attack.
2022-23 ABC New Series
Robertson joins Nash-Betts; Frankie Faison, who plays Christopher “Cutty” Clark; and Felix Solis, who guest-starred as Special Agent Matthew Garza in the two Rookie episodes, which served as backdoor pilots for The Rookie: Feds. All three are continuing on the new series as series regulars.
On the new series, Robertson will play Laura Stensen. She is the “black sheep” of a family of brilliant academics and the youngest person ever allowed into the FBI’s behavioral analysis unit. But after discovering that her boyfriend had been cheating on her with her best friend, Laura fell into a slump – how could a criminal profiler miss that the people closest to her were liars? Given a lifeline in Garza’s new unit, Laura’s ready to throw her socially awkward, workaholic, book-smart self-back into the job, hoping to get her mojo back.
ABC New Series Teaser Trailers: ‘Alaska’, ‘The Rookie: Feds’, ‘Not Dead Yet’
Hawley and Winter executive produce The Rookie: Feds with Mark Gordon, Nash-Betts, Fillion, Michelle Chapman, Bill Norcross and Corey Miller. Entertainment One is the lead studio and international distributor of the series, a co-production with ABC Signature. Netflix has produced many hit TV shows over the past seven years, ever since they started pumping out their own original programming. However, the streaming service has developed a reputation for not letting its series go on for too long. Fans know to be wary of getting attached to their favorite new Netflix shows as they could be unceremoniously cancelled after one or two seasons.
Earlier today, for instance, Hilary Swank vehicle Away was given the chop by the company after just a single outing. This makes it the 56th original series that Netflix has cancelled. That number only includes shows that were original to the platform and produced in-house, so it doesn’t count pick-ups like Lucifer, for example. Those series luckily enough to end on the creators’ own terms, such as House of Cards, are likewise not included. Shows that were axed by Netflix before being picked up elsewhere,...

One aspect of Netflix that often goes unsung is the way it brings foreign TV shows to the US. This has resulted in some particularly cool television from Europe jumping the pond, including chillers like Marianne, Curon and Dark. Now, a new show looks set to join their ranks: Biohackers, a German production that explores the murky waters of biohacking, aka genetic experimentation.
Set in Freiberg, Germany, we follow medical student Mia Akerlund (Luna Wedler) as she immerses herself deep into the world of experimental genetic experiments. As she does, she investigates her brother’s mysterious death, which seems to be linked to the work of a top lecturer at the university. What follows looks like a pretty cool thriller, as Akerlund begins with custom-designed glow-in-the-dark mice and ends with hints of much more sinister DNA tinkering in later episodes.
Netflix describes it as so:

What follows looks like a pretty cool thriller, as Akerlund begins with custom-designed glow-in-the-dark mice and ends with hints of much more sinister DNA tinkering in later episodes.
Netflix describes it as so:

When Charlize Theron received word that the American Cinematheque wanted to honor her with its award this year, her response was somewhat unique. “My go-to reply is always: ‘Are you sure?’” Theron says with a laugh. “The human being inside of me still can’t believe all of this is happening.”
Theron might be the only person caught off guard. She was the unanimous choice of the Cinematheque board of directors for her work not only as an Oscar-winning actress, but also a producer. Earlier this year, Theron played an aspiring presidential candidate in “Long Shot,” a film that was developed and produced by her Denver and Delilah Productions. The company has produced such TV shows as “Mindhunter” and “Girlboss,” along with films like “Tully” and “Atomic Blonde.”
Theron’s first credit as producer was “Monster,” about serial killer Aileen Wuornos that grossed $60 million on a budget rumored to be around $1 million.
