Desai forces Dutch to work for him comforting Sophie that will give birth in a C-Section. Dutch discovers an abominable secret. Meanwhile Eph and Alex survive a vampire attack where her brother Jason is infected and dies. Eph confesses to Alex what his son did. Creem´s gangster is murdered by another gang of former NYPD officers and Gus plots a plan to defeat them.

"New Horizons" is an episode where Dutch finds the truth about the Partnership and the slaughterhouse built by Eichhorst. Gus invasion to the store of the gang of NYPD officers is full of action and Alonso Creem seems to be jealous with Gus. My vote is seven.

A big step closer to the end

Let me make this clear, this show has its problems and fair share of questionable decisions by the lead characters. Also, this show is not for everybody, which very much applies to this episode in particular. It is a dark show about the gruesome defeat of mankind and this episode is another step into the abyss.

S4E4 starts out slow with Dutch and Eph but ends with a vengeance. It is about a reveal that shouldn't surprise anybody but comes with such ferocity that is nothing short but brutal.

Gus and his gang have some screen time and want to avenge the death of a gang member. It turns out he was killed by a group of ex- cops which are subsequently ambushed, killed and raided. Gus has several strong moments, but it all does raise the question of who exactly are the good guys?

Meanwhile, Eph and Alex lose their operation and bond over the suffering of their similar fates. What is there left that can be fought for? It feels like the weight of the world is on their shoulders and they fight a perpetuate war they cannot win.

And Dutch... oh girl, what have you gotten yourself into?

This is apocalypse done right. Great performance by everybody. Lightning, pacing, etc. is just spot on.

Reaction / Review for The Strain Season 4 Episode 4 ''New Horizons'' (S4. E4): Episode 3 was mediocre and I gave it a rating 6.8/10. Love Eichorst's threats towards Desai, always fun watching Eichorst do his thing. The sad thing is that after what Eph and his crew did it wont be easy to repeat it. It was awesome that thousands of strigoi got sick and died though. I like Gus but the whole thing with that gang, im not a big fan and now it seems that another gang wants to be dominant? I don't care about these gang wars. No Setrakian again? What is going on? Its been 3 episodes without him, im losing my patience. We also have Dutch in that baby clinic, I don't care about this stuff. This episode feels like there is complete lack of direction. Overall a really bad episode, my rating is 5.5/10.
