Leo Vincent (Iain Glen) is a successful gourmet chef running a restaurant in Cornwall. He has an anorexic rebellious daughter with ex-wife Gina Benelli (Dawn French.) He cheated on Gina with Sam (Emilia Fox) who he later married. They have a son Michael who is celebrating his 18th birthday.
Sam worries about Leo's unhealthy eating and that he might be having an affair. She is right about the affair, he rekindled his relationship with Gina.
We get hard boiled narration from Leo, is this a murder mystery? Well by the end of the episode Leo dies, it was the unhealthy eating. His dead soul is narrating and the two women now have to get together to keep the restaurant going.
There was something odd about the opening episode. It did not gel because it did not set out what it wanted to be. A soapy culinary drama or a black comedy.
Best line was from Leo's mother when doing the crossword. A kind of rock. Sweet. She shouts out Glam. So far this is no blockbuster.
