Bringing Blood Diner to the Screen

Killer Cuisine: The Making of 'Blood Diner' (2016)

*** (out of 4)

Director Jackie Kong, screenwriter Michael Sonye, cast members Drew Godderis, Roger Dauer and Roger Dauer, composer Don Preston and cinematographer Jurg V. Walther are interviewed about the making of the cult film BLOOD DINER.

This documentary can be viewed in five separate parts or as a whole and clocks in at 64-minutes. Fnas of BLOOD DINER will certainly find this to be entertaining and especially the first part, which has screenwriter Sonye talking about the original idea for the film and how Herschell Gordon Lewis' BLOOD FEAST was a big influence and this here was an official remake/sequel. From here we get segments with the cast, the composer, the cinematographer and of course the director. The interview portion with the director was quite interesting as she talks about working with the low-budget, what she changed in the screenplay and the various challenges from the production.

The documentary really doesn't have the greatest flow to it but that's just a minor complaint as I'm sure fans will really love this since it contains some great behind-the-scenes stories as well as a lot of production secrets. There's a great bit of information given so fans will certainly enjoy this.
