Loved the episode, hate it's the ending
jelanielove30 November 2020
This episode was so good and opened up so much more stories. I'm forever disappointed in e!'s decision to cancel the series. It was canceled due to stories coming out about the creater but I don't understand why they couldnt have just gotten rid of him. I want to see what happens and hate this open ending. It deserved another season and it sucks that other shows (like mark Schwann's problematic one tree hill got to continue for nine seasons but this couldnt even get a fifth just to wrap it up. Very disappointed in all the decision makers about the fate of this show.

Put off watching the finale for years...
flordiper-5282824 February 2021
I put off watching the finale until now because I had a feeling it was going to be bad considering the show got cancelled. I gave in because I wanted something to watch during quarantine and thought I'd give it a shot. As a season finale it's a good episode but as a series finale... it was bad. I'm so sad the show got cancelled I would have loved to see how it continued after that shocking ending.

Team Robert/Willow FTW!...
Chalice_Of_Evil20 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The use of 'Creep', as sung by a choir at a WEDDING in a CHURCH (including the line "What the hell am I doing here?"), was one of the *least* ridiculous things this show has done. As a Robert/Willow fan, I was perfectly happy with this being the final episode of the series since everyone else had become intolerable. Liam's a petulant whiny b!tch whose only fans would have to be teen girls, since his plotting/planning was lame and he was no match for Robert. I couldn't care less about him and Kathryn (she made me miss the character of Ophelia from Season 1). He was a boy taking on a man and thus was totally out of his depth.

Does NOBODY remember how Eleanor first got with Jasper? He BLACKMAILED her into having sex with him! That was something I'd never forgotten about nor forgiven (even though she apparently had). Consequently, I could never get onboard with their toxic 'relationship' and I just found them dull (Eleanor was MUCH better *away* from him...and Sebastian was better for her). She turns on her brother, Robert, because he stole her letter/words to Jasper? Big deal! Didn't she and Jasper have someone else write their letters *for* them at one point? They both became SO sanctimonious and the actor who plays Jasper only ever had one facial expression.

Helena's become woefully ineffective at doing much of anything (other than having a catfight with Willow's mother, which was ridiculous...but par for the course with this show). She's been totally defanged since Season 1, just sitting around watching reality TV...and not much else. Cyrus is, and always HAS been, a cartoon character. I guess it was a surprise they actually brought Violet *back* this time (instead of just having someone posing as her). I never liked Cyrus, so I didn't really give two figs about him (too bad that mohawked joke of an ex-King continued to LIVE). I used to like James Hill and thought he was one of the only 'mature' characters in the show, but siding with the idiots knocked him down several pegs in my book.

Willow's scenes with Robert were what MADE this season interesting/better than last season, and I liked that it wasn't clear which way she'd go right up until she said "I do". While I'm sure others were disappointed by the lack of any shooting going on, considering all the guns that were floating about, I was THANKFUL there wasn't any gunplay, as I was worried that if there *had* been, Willow might've gotten caught in the crossfire. Genevieve Gaunt got to display her comedic chops in one of the previous episodes when she was, in Helena's words, 'tripping balls', but here she conveyed all of Willow's conflicted emotions, showing nuance/depth, as she weighed her options. She was a most welcome addition to the show and certainly one of the 'stronger' actors in it.

Speaking of 'stronger' actors, Max Brown (who's a superior actor to William Moseley) brought SO much to this season as Robert, who (unlike Liam) has proven to be a COMPLEX character with many layers and I, for one, took great delight in him and Willow tying the knot, leaving everyone else looking like fools. That's why I can't hate this 'ending' for the series, as those who I *wanted* to win DID...and those who I *didn't* LOST. While everyone else seems to hate this conclusion, I'm sitting back and enjoying it. Long live King Robert and Queen Willow!

Fabulous show, Crappy finale!!!
scubafiend21 September 2019
I certainly hope the intent was to do a fifth season because the finale of Season 4 (which is also the series finale) sucks! It is a lousey way to end the series, leaving it wide open for what happens next. I love the show, the actors, the sets, and the wild storylines. It is a serious letdown to have it all end with a huge question mark.

Ten stars for the show in general. 1 star for episode 10 - because it was the series finale. I would give it 10 stars if there was another season or at least another episode to wrap things up!

Great suspense - but we will never know -
elidezagon8 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I just finished the series as the finale came on regular TV 2 weeks ago. Although it was a very good episode, I agree, bad ending because it left everything in suspense. We can figure out why she said yes to Robert and maybe the kidnapping was related to that. I have to say, the script and acting were good since I really hated Robert! manipulative, self-serving creep. Way worse than Cyrus who at least was candid about his plans and feelings! Anyway, very sad it ended...

A great episode but not appropiate for a series ending
angelgamer-9846629 December 2020
This show needs to continue, this show was getting better and better, and this episode was a great cliffhanger but its a shame that they cancelled the show because of the inappropiate behavior of the director. They could just change him and continue with the fabulous story. This show deserves at least one more season. I hope the show gets rescue and can be concluded properly.

Perhaps the wrong network for a great show
isa-alsup4 November 2022
I don't think The Royals could find its full audience at E! Sadly, scandal and lackluster ratings forced E! To cancel on a cliffhanger unresolved story. Sadly, no other network would step up. A show like this, IMO, does better in streaming. The IMDb rating certainly shows reviewers like the show.

While it lasted audiences were treated to a grand visual spectacle, romance, and palace intrigue. Like the intrigues of any number of historical dramas but with a contemporary setting reflecting contemporary mores. The story evokes great Shakespeare's tragedy and farce, without being too farcical but never too serious. The costumes and sets are gorgeous, the acting well done, the writing witty and intense. Dialogue well done.

Now we will never know if King Liam gets his crown. So the season IV ending is how it ends. An unresolved feeling. Pity such a great story did not wrap properly.

As it stands, the loyal audience lost thanks to one man's indiscretions.

Loved the show but hated this final
droetqer7 February 2021
I really loved the show and in my opinion it didn't loose any of its charm. Although the story lines took sometimes a bit of a weird turn, the characters were solid and has grown to me. As a season final this episode was great, with a lot of unanswered questions. But as a series final this was one of the worst in my opinion. There was no closure whatsoever, only big question marks, open story lines and a unsatisfied feeling. If there was only one more episode or season to wrap it up nice and proper, that would make a huge difference. This show didn't deserve a ending like this.
