Al Has Had Enough
Hitchcoc15 April 2018
Bert's indiscretions and irresponsibilities have continued to affect Al. When he realizes that Bert has blown all the money from a bank loan cosigned by Ruth, he vows to pay her back. When the only pub in town is going out of business, he tries to take it over but needs to make a deal with the owner. Meanwhile, Louisa has been forced to go sailing with the older students and she is petrified. Her lack of knowledge becomes a major issue. We also have a sad major event at the pub. The results of which are rather astounding.

Warning: Spoilers
Bert Large is running true to type chancing his arm to make a quick Bob, without concerning himself with the consequences.

Berts Dream of being a whisky entrepreneur turning somewhat sour, when he cannot flog the stuff to Ken Holister of the Crab and Lobster pub.

Without any warning to a soul Bert decides to Jack it in, dumping another problem on his son Al. Thus increasing Al's burdens and blood pressure, with absolutely no concern for him sons wellbeing.

Down in the dumps Bert jumped at the chance of working for Caitlin Morgan, and living over her shop.

Dr. Ruth Ellingham meets Bert helping out in the shop, and asked him what happened to the whisky business.

As Berts guarantor for the £5,000 business overdraft Ruth naturally enough, asked of the chances of seeing any of her money.

When Al Large finds out Ken Holister is closing the Crab and Lobster, he is down in the dumps. Until Morwenna convinced Al that he could run it.

Al tried to persuade Ken into a business partnership, with him running the pub. With Al's fiscal track record Ken is not convinced, until Al lies that Ruth is his guarantor.

Ruth isn't prepared to put good money after bad, but Al lied again to Ken convinced he and Morwenna can prove his point with a Grand Pub Bash.

Clive Tishell attended the Pub Bash with expressed consideration of monitoring his alcohol consumption, for the good of his health. Mrs Tishell leaves her husband in the care of PC Joe Penhale, who convinced her that he will look after him. However Jo Penhale is as ever more concerned, of his own woes than of anyone else's.

Louisa is considering her options over leaving teaching, and taking up her new career path. However Louisa makes arrangements for an interview without telling Martin, but he heard the telephone message accepting her application.

Louisa has to get involved with a school project that includes her, as possibly the worst mariner on board a boat.

One of the series semi-regulars assumes room temperature...others do stupid things.

The second part of my summary is a no-brainer. After all, folks in this god-awful English town ALWAYS seem to be doing stupid things. As to the first part, well, tune in and see for yourself.

The other plots in this episode concern Bert's son trying to fix things and clean up the mess Bert's made of the pub, a woman has some bald patches and is worried she won't be gorgeous on her wedding day, a little boy has an inner ear infection and Louisa is looking to go back to school.

Overall, another good episode of an enjoyable show. No complaints from me, though I wish if they were going to get rid of a regular they'd considered Constable Penhale!
