Very fine intro to the topic

Not really sure why it has so low ratings. It's better than the average PBS doc and this one has no great ideology bias to it which is rare for the modern PBS that's not as high quality any longer as it used to be. Usually PBS would talk about Nazis and racist eugenics in such a documentary but here they for once choose to go a more positive way for some reason which make this a rare upbeat PBS documentary. While seeing those handicapped kids is not fun or interesting it's very much interesting to be there while the gene therapy progress is taking place. The doctors and parents are very positive. And especially the doctors in this documentary all look like big helpful science geeks.

PBS for once avoids any progressive ideology pitfall and instead focuses on the medicine which is a breath of fresh air and something I hope they keep doing because gene therapy is progressing so fast that we are in need of a new documentary on this issue already.

Informative but a slog

6/6/18. This is such a timely and interesting topic, but this documentary felt like a slog. Informative but not necessarily as entertaining as it could be, given the exciting science of genetics.
