Outrageously good

I'm generally a pretty chill person but this episode had me screaming at the tv by the end. To tell a smart and engaging story like this with interweaving plotlines and threads unfolding over many years while still maintaining genuinely thrilling action from episode to episode is incredible.

On the edge of my seat then fell off

Warning: Spoilers
Pacing and attention to detail is the strength of Line of duty. Love the links between all the seasons. Joe's link to Tommy Hunter Ocg is she being blackmailed or under cover for the ocg? Love the reference to the bad spelling of the ogc's computer contact which we saw last season too. Ted still got his hands dirty with payment to John's Corbett's widow. Oh ted!!! Still a lot better to tie together. Can't wait for next Sunday. Plus James Nesbitt the new ultimate villain ?? Top class show. Enthralled.

Diesel sucked dry!

Talk about intense, this rollercoaster series just went up another notch, how on Earth have they maintained this standard for a three episode run, this once again, was exceptional.

The face from the past, that was unexpected, and proved to be an irresistible twist, and by the end of the episode I was absolutely exhausted, fatigued mentally and physically, absolutely outrageous drama, you think you can breathe easily, and then you're given...

....That ending, when I thought it couldn't get any more intense, any more dramatic, they give us THAT ending, my heart was in my mouth.

Outrageous, everything is falling apart. 10/10.

Fantastic but I hate waiting a week

Oh my, ending on a cliffhanger like that should be a crime. Ok, Line of Duty is as mad as a box of frogs but it's a very well built box with very talented frogs.

Fastest hour of the week.

Season 6 is delivering in spades. Each episode just ratchets up the tension and offers no end of plausible suspects/theories. The links with prior series's are genius. Life will be so dull in two weeks time. Please let there be a season 7.

Amazing

Warning: Spoilers
This show never ceases to amaze me. To remain so complex and enthralling this far into the series is incredible. After a disappointing first episode where I thought the story was going to be spread quite thin, this season has been incredible. That's how to do a cliffhanger!

Gunfight at ok diner

Another cliffhanger with intense loud music at the end to add to the suspense.

Another strong episode after a dull start to the series.

Perhaps the script benefitted from the Covid break in filming.

Only a 9 though as I still miss the scenes from the first series of seeing the Wmpte buses going down Broad St. In Birmingham.

Belfast does look nice but it's not the west midlands.

Sublime to ridiculous..but still entertaining
Hermac18 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Love the show and always entertained. But I find myself holding my head in my hands at some of the pantomime level theatrics that get thrown in every episode ... with this being no exception ..

The set-up for Kate to chat feelings in a lorry Park, with every step leading to it not remotely flagging to the experienced DI (who apparently is detective, every interview trained, covert, firearms, walk on water super ninja expert) as strange or just a little bit suspect.. with a woman who you now know is related to a head of an ocg and fits the pattern of every dodgy cop you investigated in your time on ac12... really?

And with a pantomime we get a pantomime villain in the so hammy and annoying dcs carmichael... striding in all in black with her minions in tow like miss trunchbull... caring not for the progress of any investigation and pulling the surveillance on every op just like that... because of dramatic effect and cheesy plotting and because as the anti-ted why wouldn't she... played as such a caricature she could well be the most nail down a chalkboard inducing character on tv...give me strength🤦

And long dramatic staring at people for effect... apparently every twist or revelation has to be followed by the protagonist or antagonist staring at their quarry (normally through a window or from behind a corner) for far longer than is comfortable or natural... for tension 😱.. with the only thing missing a dum..dum..duummm sounding behind them. Go and look for them and play dramatic stare shots.. you'll be drunk every episode 🤣

There is also a 99.7% possibility that when they chat amongst themselves and discuss a revealed match of forensic evidence they will use this unnaturally specific language when it's not necessary (Steve and Kate talking privately about the money )"it's the money from the bosses hotel room " seems more natural and yes we the audience would of got it 🤣

These seem like pedantic niggles but there are more besides that take me out of the story, being so unnaturally stupid or contrived every episode purely for overt dramatic effect.

But hey...I enjoy it.. its good...

And then when we have our stand off at the end of the episode we have to have "you drop the gun " verbal tennis that just goes on too long... because we need our overly dramatic omg ending to leave us once again hanging on the most ridiculous cliff till next week...

And I'll be there.. well played you got me 🤣

Bit like the season 8 of GOT

Katie character and motivations has became unbelievable in this episode, creating tensions for no reason. Plots pretty thin, beginning of the end i fear.

Episode 6.5
Prismark1021 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Own up. Who looked up what 'homozygosity' meant?

If Ryan Pilkington is the most hated character in the show. Carmichael later showed up. She will soon be taking over from Hastings.

Carmichael does not even bother waiting a few weeks for Hastings to retire. She is not happy about him wasting resources and makes operational decisions.

It leaves Kate Fleming exposed. She thought both Ryan and Jo Davidson were being watched. Hence why she made the risky move to meet Jo in an isolated location late at night.

The episode ended with another tense finale. Not before the episode teased a new villain for a future episode. Just hope they do not get cold feet.

The story has splintered to a Stephen Lawrence type story. I am uneasy that the writer used such a controversial real life case as a basis. Then again the previous series managed to weave Jimmy Savile in.

Engrossing episode
snoozejonc14 April 2023
Pilkington is watched closely by AC12 and Fleming.

There is strong tension and suspense developed by scenes involving Davidson, Pilkington, and Fleming. This makes you want to find out what happens next. Also, certain characters are reintroduced to increase the level of antagonism and oppression towards the main protagonists. All of the above comes with certain plot contrivances that help bring about the most dramatic moments, but if you can suspend the disbelief it makes for great entertainment.

The overarching plot relating to the larger conspiracy comes into sharp focus in this one and the writer links this very well to the case of Gail Vella and the involvement of Davidson.

Themes of police corruption are laid on thick as always, adding the Lawrence case to other real life inspirations of high profile cases like Yewtree, but they are important topics to be tackled by the writer so credit to him for doing so. Hopefully viewers can tell fact from fiction an do their own research on real life events.

Kelly McDonald is on good form again, particularly with her expressions and mannerisms. She only has to look at people in certain ways and it says everything you need to know.

For me it's a an 8.5/10, but I round upwards.

Is this the beginning of the end for this great show?
mikebudge19 April 2021
Just short of 30 minutes in yet another previously great TV show starts to show signs of being infected by the woke brigade that is pervading society today.

I genuinely hope that this is just a weak story arc that is easily forgotten but this could be it for Line of Duty - such a shame.

I won't spoil it but the script will have you rolling your eyes.

More casual racism from the wokist bbc
jimmy_booth1 May 2021
Disappointing to see another good show fall victim to the social justice mob because of course we couldn't have a TV show about police corruption without including "systemic racism"...

The bigotry of low expectations has neve been more glaringly obvious.
