Oddly enough, it isn't the people or the poker in the film that make it so riveting: it is the script and the performance of the lead actress, Ms Chastain, that makes the film the classic that it is. Actually, as a poker player myself, I though the poker sequences in the film were a bit weak, but EVERYTHING else in the film was first-rate. Fortunately, the film does not dote on the hands or the players. Cera's role seems to be rather unimportant and the fame of the players involved is well-cloaked. The players are not the highlight of the film. What is the highlight of the film, however, is Molly Bloom, who writes a wonderfully articulate script about how to become a millionaire hosting a poker game. Her trip through life had a few potholes, but she came through it a more complete person. Great film.
