One of the worst movies of the year.
Azanspy15 September 2019
Bad writing, bad direction, bad performance, bad comedy, bad songs and almost everything sucks in this onam offering from Prithviraj. I didn't expect this kind of film from Prithviraj as his recent script selections had minimum quality. The movie is so badly made by the debut of actor Kalabhavan Shajohn and watching it was like watching a Malayalam serial. All the supporting cast was bad in their roles. Only Prassana as the negative character did okay. Prithviraj's performance was bad and it surprised me. Overall, Brother's Day is a very bad film and give it a watch only if you don't have anything much to do.

Sad IMDB doesn't have option for 0 star rating
joppanLive26 September 2019
This movie is a complete waste of resources. 4 heroines + Prithviraj, along with other well-supporting cast; but the fate of "Brother's Day" is to become one of the baddest movie released in the festival season. I agree, there are movies even worse than this, but considering the resources this movie had, ""Brother's Day" deserves all the blame. The director attempted a crime thriller, but the movie is not pleasing in any manner. I watched this movie expecting a fun-filled Prithviraj movie seeing the songs and trailer; Disappointed.

Molecule Review: Brother's Day (2 Stars)
nairtejas23 September 2019
Brother's Day is a jigsaw puzzle where few pieces are missing and even the director does not know where they are, so he ends up compromising the end product to make it look like it's finished. There are so many questions you would get after watching the film that you will vow never to go in for a Kalabhavan Shajohn film ever even if it boasts off a cast line-up such as Prithviraj Sukumaran, Vijay Raghavan, Dharmajan, Madonna Sebastian, Miya George, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Prayaga Martin. It is a convoluted piece of cinematic experiment that shouldn't have seen the light of the day not because it rehashes everything you have seen in all the psychological thrillers in the past but because it's just pure mockery of the entire artform. TN.

One more underrated movie.
nevopillai11 September 2021
As far as the directors first attempt, It is watchable. Not like some other movies done by well known team and have good ratings for nothing. Don't know why people are underrating the movie. I loved the cinematography and the directors approch to the story. We can see lazy scripting and cliches still watchable movie. Not a complete waste of time still one more underrated malayalam movie. IMDB Reviews feels like heat seeker missiles.

Should be renamed as "The Boring Day"
arunvattakkadu17 October 2019
I think my title says it all. This is one of the worst thriller movies I have ever saw. Packed with unwanted violence and detailing which ends up un-synced. The editor may be the worst in the industry because no scenes blends with the previous ones. My personal advice to the director, please be a director in movies but not in real life.

COMEDY, TRILLER, ACTION, ALL IN ONE FAMILY MOVIE
shibushibilhaq6 September 2019
The movie starts with so many character introduction in first half. 1st half is really full of joy and fun.. And end with a suspense.

2nd half is of emotion, revenge and all, They makers were able to connect each part of the story. Even though the movie is for 2hr and 44 mins. We won't feel any lag or boring... Each moment in the movie is so good.

The vintage prithviraj is back to MOLLYWOOD 💜

Bad movie released during festive Onam season!
eappenb8 September 2019
Watched "Brother's Day" Malayalam movie other day. Bad plot, scripts, direction and total bad experience. Seems a "serial" writer wrote this plot. If a good director got this story he would have done a better job. Movie brings a array of actors and actresses, seems to waste everybody's time! This shows a real contrast between a well directed movie and a bad one! Not a movie for Onam festivities!

Prithvi surely must have agree to this movie out of friendship
scariamartin5 November 2019
Kalabhavan Shajon have missed it. After getting dates from such a big star cast he could not make it. He as a actor is good but direction is not his cup of tea. Comedy scenes was terrible. What a waste of talent. Editing was below par. Sometimes when flashback was showing it took a while to understand that the director is showing past. Director also fries to put some twists but does not make any impact.

A talented ensemble wasted in this comedy-thriller mishmash! [+34%]
arungeorge1319 October 2019
Short Review: For a debut directorial, Shajohn's effort is mediocre. What surprises me here is how the four leading ladies signed up for a script this underwhelming. The comedy, for a festival flick such as this, was minimal. We do see Prithvi smiling and pulling his cronies' legs (for a change) but even that's limited to the first hour (P.S - The film runs for a butt-numbing 165 minutes).

Like many recent Malayalm thrillers, Brothers Day also puts a psycho blackmailer and murderer at its forefront and trivializes violence inflicted on humans (especially women) for cheap thrills. The twists are convoluted and least convincing. A few supposedly significant characters do not get the fleshing out they deserve. The characters played by Madonna and Miya lacked depth.

A pretty badly done dance number has been stuffed in just to ensure that the film stays within the boundaries of its 'festival film a.k.a breezy watch' gimmick. Prithviraj can do comedy but more importantly, he's a writer/director's actor and therefore, given poor scripts, he can only salvage so much out of it. Several scenes in the film have been stretched beyond comprehension just so that it would complement bland twists later on.

Verdict: Zero takeaways!

Movie with flop comedies and poor logic (3/10)
devikabsree25 October 2019
The idea of comedy in the movie seems to be showing some drunken men. The movie has a very poor logical flow. It has a serial killer with no info on his background. A good movie always gives emphasis on the background of a serial killer. The characters in this movie often act totally out of their usual nature. In reality, you don't find a meek submissive woman turning out to be a assistant to a serial killer in a short span of time. First it takes some time to develop skills like acting and athletic movements. Plus a sharp minded serial killer wouldn't just trust anyone and easily recruit them as assistants. Even acting performance of majority of the actors was bad. However, the woman who acted as Prithviraj's sister did a good job and Prasannas's portrayal of the serial killer was excellent.

Not for family
sujith789_reviews22 September 2019
The movie starts good with some comedy scenes. But that's it. Second half is meaningless and rubbish. Some of the characters of this movie are really meaningless. Shajohn is a good actor, but his directorial debut is utterly disappointing. A movie to avoid!!

Carefully Crafted Disaster
dailytrolls19 August 2022
Judging by the initial setting I expected a simple family film. As the movie progressed, the cracks in the story just broadened and it eventually became unbearable to watch.

Positives Great cast, good chemistry and comedy in the first half of the movie

Negatives Poor screenplay, comical acting from the antagonist, unreasonable character motivations.

If it were up to me, I'd snap this movie into non existence.
