Anyone who wants to understand this cultural phenomenon largely underestimated and misrepresented by mainstream media should give this movie a try if they can.

Warning: Spoilers
This is probably the less useful review but I couldn't help notice: the movie is an abridgement of a series - in other words if you saw the series then you wasted your money on the ticket. The most heard complaint after the lights were back on and everyone walked toward the exit was "That's it? it felt so short". And even with 84 minutes lenght it does fall short for both fans and non fans - who don't get a single explanation on who are the BTS members and how it all began, just a glimpse. I wish they started from their childhood if possible. And the songs aren't shown fully, which would add more minutes at least. I don't mean to say the documentary is bad. it's got all the ingredients: love, drama, tears and comedy. But it doesn't dig deeper and the message is concise: "thank you fans for supporting us". That's all. In the movie the stage is compared to a desert and the band's quench for glory and perfection is insatiable. So if you still feel thirsty, go watch the YT series and some interviews. This movie is barely a tiny cup.

A must see not only for the fans but everyone
melinacaffiero16 November 2018
The amount of effort they put to show the best to the world, is something that is barely seen nowadays when artists only care about money and so little for their public. The movie shows how genuine they are, and the struggles they face as young men who skyrocketed to fame when they just wanted to make music for the world to heal.

Definitely will see again

If you're a non-fan of BTS, don't write this off just yet.
lizstebbings-9619015 November 2018
As a fan I suppose I would enjoy any film about BTS, but this film really goes beyond expectations. It's shot beautifully, telling an emotional narrative of BTS's success and the subsequent expectations that they feel pressured to fill. The film is bookmarked into sections (ocean, desert) with an anonymous narrator to explain which adds another dimension to this 'typical singer' documentary. The honest reflections from the group, the melancholic narration and the orchestral versions of BTS songs playing over concert montages make this a wonderful viewing experience. If you're not a fan of BTS, or a fan of music documentaries in general, I think this could still be a film you can take something from.

Amazing documentary
nancycflores16 November 2018
Not because it's BTS, anyone that has seen the struggles of any of your favorite artists to start from the bottom it's very heartwarming. I recommend! Even if you aren't a fan of theirs, this will give you an idea of how much dedication BTS puts in their music.

Refreshing and raw..
ayahnachamilton16 November 2018
I've seen my fair share of music/concert documentaries, but Burn The Stage is a cut above the rest. It's not a black & white documentation of their success, but more of a complex diary entry. It felt as though the audience was reading an insert of BTS- as if all the members became one person- where he was spilling his deepest thoughts and insecurities. The director did well in inciting a spectrum of emotions. The movie had its fair share of tribulations and well-timed humor.

What was refreshing was the lack of the 'woe is me' trope. Yes, their lives are hard (they were very candid in telling the audience that), but they never once said they regretted the path they took nor that they took their support for granted. I don't think the movie goes a sold 5 minutes straight where they aren't thanking or mentioning, ARMY, their fans.

They are extremely humble, caring, funny, and compassionate young men. I hope to see more from them in the future.

Amazing!!
morgsouth19 November 2018
This was the best documentary I have ever seen. It was a full package: funny, sad, and powerful. After seeing the movie you can't help but feel for the boys and become even greater fans for the group. It was the most interesting documentary and I would love to see it again.

Beautiful
akilahlapure16 November 2018
I love this movie! I believe its the perfect movie to introduce the members and what they're going through in their concert. There were moments that made me cry, even more that made me laugh. It was well made, the transitions were smooth. It also felt more personal. I would definitely watch it again

We Purple You

This movie is an extended version of the YouTubeRed series Burn The Stage but even if you have already watched the series you'll definitely not want to miss this! The movie has a totally different feel to it, new interviews and 90% of the movie is unreleased footage. I liked that they added the members voices as a voiceover throughout parts of the movie.

The movie was amazing and you'll get to see a new side to BTS as they reveal their hardships, but also friendship, to the world. Surprisingly the movie was a lot more positive than the series... you'll definitely laugh A LOT!

And if you're not a fan of BTS (yet) I hope you'll give them a chance.. This movie is a great way to be introduced to the members and their bond as the world's most popular boy band atm. You'll get the chance to see what all the hype is about!

Their dedication to the music is UNBELIEVEABLE and you'll definitely fall down the rabbit hole like the rest of us ARMYs.

Meant for fans
ktgodinez8 August 2019
I really loved the movie! However, I am a big BTS fan. If you aren't a fan u might still enjoy it but i don't think you'll get the full experience. The pacing was a little odd and while it was nice to see the backstage moments I wish they had shown at least one of their songs. The members were their naturally funny selves so it wasn't hard for me to watch but my non fan friends wanted to have at least some action in the form of a concert song.

A bit disappointed but still loved it.
ariasiguido17 November 2018
I'm a fan (aka army) of BTS, so no doubt I would love something with BTS in it. But I was disappointed after the movie. First of all, the camera is shaky so if you're in the front row it's hard to see and if international it's hard to see and read subtitles. I thought the movie would show BTS's struggles and happiness, of each individual. Like what they're life is without the concerts and the cameras. How they are with their family, loved ones and others. The movie just was entirely about their concert from 2017 and some little clips of them back in No More Dream Era and Billboard music awards. Just all the same stuff that all fans have seen, same clips and memorable sayings. From start to finish, all the clips... yes I have seen before. Hopefully later on or after their career a movie or documentary will grab more on depth of their lives, the real life because we all know that they aren't just 7 guys in a band that have shared most of their youth together; they are real people.

Very disappointed
dlaroche-7171020 November 2018
I love BTS but was very disappointed in the movie. It was like they pieced together whatever was left from the Youtube series and put some cheesy narration behind it. It did not showcase the members and their personalities well at all. I brought people with me unfamiliar with BTS and they left unimpressed. The music did not sound good. Management just seems like they are trying to make whatever money they can now and know fans will buy anything with BTS' name on it at this point. My 7 year old loves BTS but she left disappointed as well. Really poorly done overall.

This was an emotional journey from start to finish. The clips, music, narration and production were all amazing. I went to see it twice and wish it would be in theatres longer to watch it again. BTS and Big Hit never let us down.

Tears of sadness and laughter!
laurenalen19 November 2018
Even if you aren't a fan of BTS, you can definitely learn something from these boys. This movie showcases the incredible amount of hard work they put in daily to achieve their goals, but it also exhibits how little they take their success for granted, with the underlying message of perseverance in the face of adversity or uncertainty and the importance of gratitude. Bangtan's admirable passion and dedication to every single performance or song that they do is obvious throughout, however it is also painfully clear how aware they are of the temporariness of fame and fortune. Even with these emotional thoughts in mind, the hilarious one liners, especially from Yoongi and Jin, left me and half the audience in tears of laughter as well as those from sadness as we left the cinema.

Beautifully Enlightening
internetxlife16 November 2018
As an ARMY who went to the WINGS Tour in 2017, knowing the behind the scenes of the tour only makes me so much more grateful for BTS. They truly do give their all every single time, they're incredible human beings. Burn The Stage will surely stand out as a time capsule of some of the happiest moments of my youth. The bond we ARMYs have with BTS is unbreakable, fate decided this bond, this bond that holds us together like grapes on their vines.

A Non-Fan's Perspective
sheshe28017 November 2018
Hello! Non-fan of BTS here! My friend is a huge fan of BTS and asked me to come along with him to the showing. I've heard of BTS before because of the AMAs and BBMAs but I never listened to their music before.

Before watching this, I was curious in knowing what the whole buzz was about in regards to the band. I was curious as to why so many people enjoyed them and I had gotten my answer through this movie. It was such an endearing movie and it really showed a side of artists that we don't normally get to see. I saw them juggle and deal with pressures and expectations that came from their career skyrocketing and this movie showed me how sweet and gracious this group was. I also felt there was a sense of sincerity, and overall sense of humbleness while I was watching them.

To any non-fans wondering if they should watch this movie, I HIGHLY recommend that you should if you're able to. Am I a fan of BTS? No, but this movie did make me appreciate them more, and I'll definitely be checking out some of their music.

Hard work pays off
key_lock16 November 2018
The documentary recounts the path they took as a group to get to their fame of today. The amount of work they put into each and every performance is insanity and can their level of exhaustion can be plainly felt through the screen. Absolutely recommend watching this especially if you're a fan!

Underwhelming.
redbluebabe19 November 2018
As a huge BTS fan, I found this movie very underwhelming. I need more than just the same type of content copy-pasted for 1 hour and 28 minutes, which I felt this was. This movie was purely to make money of of the fans and left me with nothing. Sure it was semi-sentimental at times, but I wish they had had more of behind the scene content, not just 90% badly filmed on stage footage with poor sound. Only parts that were worth the money was Jin's funny parts and Yoongi drinking wine, which was a whole mood.

Bon Voyage and Run BTS is still available to watch for free and more worthy of your time.

complementary but not identical to YT red series
simplesongbirds18 November 2018
This is a brilliant documentary-- friendly to non-fans and superfans and everyone in between. This documentary covers not only the highs of the Wings tour and their BBMAs/AMAs experience, but the lows that come with self doubt, injury, and exhaustion. The movie doesn't play full songs, but gives a good overview of their music. Beyond being a documentary about a group that I follow, this movie is a poetic reflection of the whirlwind of an experience they've had. I appreciated the humor interspersed with the heavier moments, and absolutely recommend watching it.
