Blood Diamond (2006)
7/10
Important issues, great acting, mixed storyline
6 January 2007
They're a lot of issues at stakes in this movie: Conflict diamonds, refugees, child soldiers, and they're portrayed with a great portion of realism. Throughout the movie there is a lot of heart gripping scenes, and the main idea of the movie stands clear.

Leonardo DeCaprio, which seems to grow with every role at the moment, and the always fantastic Jennifer Connolly does a great job, and especially Djimon Hounsou is worth mentioning.

But at some points the story relies on clichés, and sometimes the story rips you out of the realistic and thought provoking story, which unfortunately is true.

Knowing this, I'm sure the next time I'll see it, and there certainly will be a next time, I think I might like it a bit more.

Definitely worth watching.

Mixed experience
19 May 2005
This could have been a superb movie, but three things ruins it: Hayden Christensens acting, Obi-Wans silly comments and the cheesy love liners between Padmé and Anakin.

Luckily its only the first part of the movie that really has those Obi-Wan comments and love story. Actually I sat in the cinema and was both disappointed and thrilled, because the action and the cinematography was great, but the dialog was very bad.

But then it all changes, and the rest of the movie contains some of the best Star Wars moments ever and actually it was the first time seeing a SW movie, where I got the goose pimples.

John Williams has done a great job here.

But I'll give it a 7/10. Its a hard job to make a movie when everyone knows what to happen. So its not about Anakin becoming Darth Vader, its how and its not about killing all the Jedi's, its how. And that actually surprised me how it was done.

But the movie could have stopped just 2 or 3 minutes sooner. You'll know what I mean when you see the movie. Enjoy

Delightful surprise
6 May 2005
Before I saw this,Ii expected one of those typical Hollywood movies with a boring and cheesy plot, but filled with good cinematography to cover for the bad movie.

But I couldn't be more wrong. This movie is one of the greatest surprises. The plot, the soundtrack, everything is just perfect. Seen it 3 times now, and it still touches me. Tom Cruise is an amazing actor, and Ken Watanebe is an absolutely delight to see.

And we can also learn from the movie: To be more relaxed, more dedicated. I'm not a spiritual person myself, but I very much like the philosophy in the movie.

If you like Shogun, you will also love this movie

A Splendid Example On The Fine Art Of Film-making
25 January 2005
This movie has it all: Great story, great acting, great score. Just finished and already want to see it again.

When I saw the first 2 hours just felt like 30 min. The storyline keeps evolving, and its hard to guess whats come next.

I've seen some criticism on the flashbacks and some plots that are not fully explained. They are, not always explicit, but a little mind work has never harmed anyone.

And then there is something about a dream theory. What the heck is that all about? Don't wanna go into it here, but when you've seen this movie, try find something about a dream theory. Its way out of line in my opinion.

So far it goes right on my top 5 list.

Quite good
6 January 2005
Well, I bought the DVD and afterword's I read the reviews on IMDb before I saw it, and they're not good, so my expectations was really low.

But I liked it. The story line is a bit confusing and a bit to cliché, but its still good.

The fighting scenes are great though. Yes, there might be some blood spurts as in the old movies(and Kill Bill), but so what? Its one of those movies you have to see, if you like martial arts ad sword fighting, but if you're going for a love story with some action, choose another one.

Troy (2004)
Excellent, but
25 May 2004
My expections was high, and they were partly fulfilled. I don't think Brad Pitt was the right choice. He plays well, but he doesn't looks like Achilleus to me. Rest of the cast is excellent, specielly Peter O' Toole.

Some people dies, that shouldn't have died, and some people lived, that should have died, according to the Iliad and other sources. So what? Like all movies based on history/myth, there is some flaws, but really doesn't matters, cause this is NOT a film about the Trojan War according to the litterature, it's film inspired by the litterature, keep that in mind, when you watch the movie, and I'll guarentee it will be worth it. If you watch it as a film based on the Iliad, then you'll be disappointed, cause there is some major flaws in it then.

I'll rate about 8/10

And so it won 11 Oscars
1 March 2004
Just saw the oscar last night, where ROTR was the big winner. And here it finally stops, and the LOTR-trilogy is finished with 11 oscars out of 11 nominees for ROTR.

A fine conclusion to the most brilliant trilogy ever. I can't see what movies that could become bigger than this trilogy. People might not like the movies, but they can't deny the fact, that it has the most astonishing cinematography, art-direction and visual effects ever made.

But I'm a little glad that its over. I'm a bit fed up with LOTR news

At the end of all things...
22 January 2004
It's over. No more Lord of The Rings(well, there is still the extended). When I first realized that Peter Jackson was gonna to make the movies(in 98-99 or something like that), I was thrilled. Then I saw the first movie, and I was totally amazed, the same goes for The Two Towers. And then the day came, where Return of The King had premier, and I was so excited. The movie was absolutely fantastic. The score is one of the best ever, and the visuals is absolutely amazing.

Does the movie follow the books? No, not entirely, but that's not so important. The important thing here, is that Peter Jackson had made an amazing adaption of the books. Something he have from the appendices, and somethings from Silmarillion. Jackson has managed to create three movies for the fans, and for those who haven't read the books, and that is the hard thing to do.

This trilogy will live forever. Return of The King. 93%/100 The trilogy: 96%/100

Timecop (1994)
Timecop is incredible...
25 August 2003
bad! I'm watching the movie for the second time right now, and I must say: I don't like it. One of Van Dammes first line, is to a bag-snatcher: "This bag doesn't look good one you". And the rest of the movie is just as bad as that line. I know that time-traveling is a hard subject to discuss, but the way the handle it in this movie, is some of the worst ever. Compared to Back to the Future and Terminator, Timecop's time-traveling aspect looks ridiculous. It can't be defended philosophical.

To summon up: The acting is not that good, the plot is very bad, but their is some decent fighting scenes. I'll rate it 4 out of 10

One of the funniest movies ever
15 January 2003
This must be one of the funniest movie I've seen. There's no point, no moral and it makes no sense, but I love it. Lots of people says it just a boring movie with 2 people fooling around, and they're right(except from the boring part). Some might think it encourage to take a lot of drugs, but if a person see this movie, and then take a lot of drugs, it ain't the movies fault, it's the persons own fault.

I love this movie

Driven (2001)
Better than expected
20 October 2002
Well, I had very low expectations to Driven, but it surprised me. The racing scenes is pretty cool, and the overall atmosphere is also good. Sly's acting is better than usual, but the plot is pretty predictable. A fairly good movie, better if you like F1(as I do), but don't expect a great and surprising movie. I would rate it 6/10.

David Lynch is the master
14 April 2002
This is the best ever made. Although some of the subplots in 2 season is a bit annoying, but that doesn't matter, because David Lynch saves it all with the ending. Kyle MacLachlan is brilliant as agent Dale Cooper. This is the best thing ever made for the TV

Damn good movie(SPOILER WARNING)
1 April 2002
Warning: Spoilers
After seeing the Twin Peaks series twice, I saw TP: FWWM. I love David Lynch's movies(although I only know Lost Highway, Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart), and FWWM is just as good as them. Í don't like the Donna character, not just because she isn't the same, but Moira Kelly doesn't play in the same way as Lara Flynn Boyle. But Sheryl Lee is absolutely astonishing. The terror in her eyes and so on.

It is a good and frightening movie. And I have to say, that I almost cried, when Laura finally finds the peace in her heart and the angel comes down to protect her.

Well, the conclusion on this movie must be: A damn good movie
