Attack on Titan (2013–2023)
10/10
Simply Put 10/10
22 May 2024
So far, AOT is the best anime I've come across. It's a 10/10 from the beginning to the end. The build up, the way the story is structured is perfect. The story seems to be curated perfectly and seems like Isayama knew exactly what he was doing from beginning to the end. At first, you wonder whether these people are living in an apocalyptic world but the twists and turns are great. It also has very minimal room for error as every dot is connected well, leaving no plot holes (there might be a few I didn't notice). I put off watching AOT for long because I'd rather watch a completed series. Now, my only regret is that I'll never get to experience watching it for the first time again.

Fitting Rating
22 February 2024
Season 1 is a 7 Season 2 is definitely 4 or lower. This show is one of the weaker ones which is sad because it has so much potential. In the end it's really weak and the execution is really underwhelming. It has some good episodes and others are just meh. Honestly, you need a lot of wit, patience and guts to watch it till the end. I'm halfway through the last episode as I write my review but I trust my judgement. I don't see anything changing in 12 minutes. Also the animation is a bit not good. You don't know if the character is smiling, angry or giving a crazy look except the main one, Keith.

Vinland Saga (2019–2023)

Worth my Time
18 February 2024
I decided to give Vinland Saga a try after hesitating for a while. In the first episode, I knew it would be watchable but I was honestly surprised. It ended up being so good. The story of Thorfinn is legitimately worth the watch. We see him grow up from a boy to a young man to a man. The story also takes us through a rollercoaster of emotions and you can't wait to see what's coming. I cried a few tears here and there. Kudos to the writer(s) because it's rare to come across one of these. The animation is also pretty great especially since it's anime. I didn't give it a 10 because there's some filler eg prolonged screaming, staring or crying. But it takes nothing from the show.

Decent
13 February 2024
5.5/10 Hmmm so I finally decided to watch this limited series. It's definitely watchable but I had a few issues with it. The lead is a bit expressionless.. I think she makes three expressions in the entire 8 episodes. It also has a lot of filler scenes, not just dialogues. So I kept losing focus. It's not the type of show to keep you captivated throughout. Anyway you might wonder why I gave it a 5.5. The story is decent and thankfully, everything ties up together in the end. We also have two detectives who make up for great characters, and the lead's brother in law isn't bad either. Don't watch it with high expectations though..

Sir Meliodas... Captain
8 February 2024
Okay my title is 40% of the dialogue (I kid you not). I'm on season 1 and I've heard these words after every minute.

The plot is a bit of a mess but still watchable. Everything is all over the place except for a few episodes that really come together. Some episodes have depth but most don't. There's no consistency really. If you want to enjoy the show, throw your curiosity and 90% of your logic away. You can watch it, lose concentration while using it as your background sound and you still won't miss a thing when you decide to concentrate two episodes later, then rinse and repeat. There's also a lot of over sexualization and harassment and the main character looks like a kid? That's very concerning.

You might be wondering why I gave it a 6/10. It's watchable so far. I'll give it that. Now I've seen the reviews for later seasons and it's scary to think the show might get worse.

Castlevania (2017–2021)

Surprisingly Good
6 February 2024
Castlevania was surprisingly good. Episode one leaves you wondering whether you should continue or not, they almost lose you in the second episode but it's not bad afterwards. It's quite captivating. The dialogue is a bit here and there but it's okay Isaac and Hector make up for it. Surprisingly, they feel like the only two characters with great arcs or depths to their stories really. Alucard just exists within the series. I feel like he wasn't explored enough. I removed one star because of the dialogue at times it's just meh. I don't understand why a character would speak for three minutes straight (without engagement from another). I took out the other star because the show gets a bit woke after season 2. Other than that, great stuff.

Teen Titans Go! (2013– )

This show is fun
4 February 2024
I'm glad I came across the show years ago on Cartoon Network before going through these reviews. I've seen so many people comparing it to the first Teen Titans. I tried watching a couple of episodes of the first and they're not the same? Teen Titans Go just seems like a fun parody. I really enjoy watching it and it's definitely my go to when I need something light. It honestly doesn't deserve that much hate and they shouldn't be compared. If you want something more serious, it's okay to go back to the old show. Alternatively, the Titans series also exists. Teen Titans Go is my personal favorite. It's worth giving it a try.

Not for Everyone but Great
25 January 2024
I'm not usually too much into films that delve into religion. This film isn't for everyone and I understand why someone might find it boring, but I enjoyed it. I've seen too many reviews talking about how it's offensive but in reality, these things happen in some areas. The actors are great and everyone plays their role perfectly. The movie needs a lot of adjustment from one's comfort zone. Once you do that, you'll definitely enjoy it and want to know what happens next. It's a bit gory for those who don't enjoy that stuff but I don't mind it, granted that it's clearly indicated on IMDb. I liked it.

The Movie is Great
14 January 2024
Okay like my title says, the movie is actually pretty great. I don't know what I was expecting but this is definitely not it. I was intrigued throughout the entire ride. I appreciate how the comedy was written into the field, not exaggerated but at the same time, pretty solid. I honestly laughed through the first hour. The second hour takes more of a thriller approach but not too much for someone to get scared. It keeps you wondering what happens next. Bryan Tyree Henry also takes the crown on this, he kinda overshadows the fact that Brad Pitt is in the movie. He's comedic gold. Anyway it's pretty solid and I'd highly recommend.

So much potential, yet poor execution
14 January 2024
Wow this movie has so much potential. The concept is great and interesting. It kinda showcases capitalism in a different realm. I honestly think the writers were just lazy. It feels like a couple of high school students wrote this. I'm writing a review 1 hour, 14 minutes in so I might be in for a surprise but I highly doubt it. So far, I've heard the words "time" and "ghetto" so many times, seems like they're just use to fill in the dialogue. The story is also very loose, normal and subpar. Plus we have so many key players whose storylines aren't entirely utilized. Anyway maybe the remaining half hour will win me over.

Surprisingly Good
13 January 2024
Okay so this movie is surprisingly good. I wanted to stop watching after 10 minutes because it's too grounded. Then I realized that's just it, it's grounded. None of the characters talk too much. The dialogue is perfect because limited talking eliminates all the drama that ruins good shows. So anyway, I got into it pretty quick. The thieves are pretty scary, as they should be. At least thet scared me. The writing is also great. Seems like someone knew what they were doing. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is because the cop made some dumb moves but that's just about it. Great movie overall and I enjoyed it.

Not as Bad
12 January 2024
So I've been holding out on this movie. I've come across my brother watching it a couple of times and he seems to enjoy it. Anyway I decided to give it a try. The first 30 minutes are pretty solid. It loses it's basis somewhere along the way with a cringe love story and a Bonnie and Clyde thing. It also pushes in a lot of unnecessary and incoherent violence. The storyline becomes baseless somewhere along the way. At some point, the only thing that keeps me going are Jamie Foxx's one liners. So thanks to him, I gave an additional two points in my review. Also, thank Kevin Spacey for another one. His character had so much potential but his ending is dumb. So two points because of Jamie, one because of Spacey, two more because it's still watchable and two more because it exists.

Bingeable
26 November 2023
I decided to watch this show over the weekend. I love the storyline overall. Perfect casting. Plus Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood) is a good narrator. I also think Madeline was perfectly cast. The two carry themselves well. I also like seeing the actors from previous shows.

The story is great as well, you know it keeps you guessing. I think it's unnecessary to have the "ghosts" though. What's their purpose exactly? I also didn't like the ending. It doesn't seem like there was any mystery to solve in the first place. But it's still okay.

I've also seen a lot of people comparing this to The Haunting of Hill House. Well, it's not. We can appreciate other series without expecting them to be like the first one. Hello? Personally, I enjoyed the show and I hope Netflix gets back into miniseries.

Black Mirror: Mazey Day (2023)
Season 6, Episode 4
2/10
It's okay to end the series
17 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I've been a fan of Black Mirror for years. How we moved from San Junipero to this baffles me. Did I just see someone turn into a wolf? I've had my reservations about the latest season but this episode seals the deal. I can see some reviews say we're complaining too much because this season lacks the Black Mirror feel. I mean that's why we're here isn't it? If I wanted to see someone turn into a wolf I'd simply watch TVD or look for standalone movies. I remember a time I never wanted Black Mirror to end. Right now, I'm more than okay with it. Something's clearly changed this season. It's quite okay to hang it up now. I gave a 2 because the message behind it is almost similar to another BM episode "Smithereens." A wolf?

Power Book II: Ghost (2020–2024)

It's okay to give it a chance
11 August 2023
I have avoided watching Book II for so long because of negative feedback/reviews. Luckily, I found my brother watching it and I was immediately captivated. I expected some teenager stuff and I was proved wrong. Every character is perfectly written, all the way from Tariq, Monet, Cane, Davis and even Dru. The supporting cast is also quite memorable. The story doesn't get boring; you're constantly on the edge wondering what will happen next. Honestly, I binged seasons 1 to 3 in 2 days. The show most definitely lives up to it's predecessor. Honestly, I'm surprised at the comments about the show being about Tariq just because he killed Ghost. It's okay to give him a chance. And the show.

Modern-Day Pre-PC Golden Girls
30 June 2023
I love this show. It's one of my comfort comedies. It obviously has a similar theme to The Golden Girls (and here's an easter egg, it has one GG). The jokes are flawless. Nothing offensive (not that I mind) but also not too PC. Nothing like today's unwatchable sitcoms. The characters are perfectly cast living in their almost golden years. I also love how the show integrates girl power, just three women living together in their midlife. However, it avoids tackling many social issues, which is honestly a plus. It's definitely watchable with many laughs. It's one of the last good sitcoms and doesn't disappoint.

Not bad but repetitive
7 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm sure if you started watching this in 2022/2023, it's because it bombarded your fyp page on TikTok. So yes, I saw a few clips about this doctor who makes diagnoses by just looking at a patient. Well, if you watch it, you're in for a shock.

I'm in episode 12 and it's the same story; arrogant doctor. The hospital gets a patient, he looks at them and passes a diagnosis. The doctors disagree at first, run the test and turns out, Dr. House is right... Or is he? The patient starts treatment but something goes wrong. Their kidneys or heart shut down and they have to be resuscitated. So the doctors, led by House go back to the drawing board. We also have occasional break-ins to patients' houses by doctors and alas! When all hope is lost, House saves the day. Basically the same script but different illnesses so far.

Titans (I) (2018–2023)

Semi Watchable
6 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Okay I've watched the first three seasons and I'll post an honest review. It's not a bad show. You can watch it as a distraction or in the background. It's the type of show you'll watch when you get to bed, and sleep eventually as it plays. You won't feel the need to catch up with an episode; you won't miss much.

It's good but has a lot of icks, I can't quite put my finger around it but I'll try:

1. The show tries to make the characters deep but never achieves this.

2. If you love the original Raven from Teen Titans, don't watch this show. The character is transformed to a needy, soft annoying girl. The only reason I continued watching is because her appearances reduced as the series progressed.

3. The show tries to form these deep storylines but never achieves it. There's always something missing.

4. I understand the show is low-budget but it could still do better.

5. Beast boy only transforms to a tiger; once a snake and a bat once.

6. Starfire can only blow fire; no other superpowers. The show also did the actress dirty with cheap wigs.

I could point out twenty more but you get the hint. I've perservered this long to see Joseph Morgan as Brother Blood.

Side note: Great casting on Boy Wonder/ Robin, Beast Boy and Superboy/Krypto. Starfire isn't bad either. Also, Dawn and Hawk are worth something.

Great Film
9 March 2023
I finally got around watching this movie since it's on Netflix. I expected less from a plotline of a man who ages backwards. The film is perfect and Brad really outdid himself. It's also great to see him out of the action realm. We also can't forget Cate Blanchett, beautiful as always. She was a great love interest. (You can stop reading the review here because the rest of my words are solely to fill the new IMDb 600 characters requirement). I loved the movie and it was better than expected. Also makes one reflect on the fragility and fickleness of life. I also loved the props; they're better than the CGI we see today.

Cheap 'Horror' Flick
3 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a big Marvel fan. I always will be. But this is not it. So we have Wanda (Scarlett Witch) coming from a mirror with broken bones and stuff, you know how the classic horror film goes. Anyway I decided to continue. Only to see Strange possessing a dead body later. So it's like I'm watching Bloody Mary and The Walking Dead at the same time. Oh right let's not forget the gargoyles and demons. I'm so disappointed because I love almost all marvel movies. The first Doctor Strange was also a masterpiece. This movie is poorly executed and the CGI is also unimpressive. The only great scene is Doctor Strange's transformation in the opening scene at Christine's wedding.

Great Series Throughout
10 October 2022
I started watching this series when it premiered. I wasn't disappointed. I stopped watching after season three when everyone turned, I mean what else was left? I didn't want any disappointments like I've experienced in other series. Anyway fast forward to 2022. I came across it on Netflix and I was like 'meh' maybe I'll watch it. I got bored and resumed where I left off. I expected disappoinment because I wondered what else was left. However, I can confidently state that I wasn't disappointed. It went on great and managed to work in the storyline. The ending is also great and unexpected: I promise you'll get closure.

Great Storyline
28 May 2022
Netflix mystery miniseries are becoming my favorite binge shows. Also, Harlan Coben rarely disappoints. I really enjoyed this series. However, I gave 8 stars because the final episode was anti-climatic and unnecessary. It could have ended with episode 7 and you wouldn't miss anything.

I'm a fan of the film series and Jack Sparrow of course. However, this film has a different feel. It doesn't carry the ambience of the other films. I tried watching it when it came out but kept dozing off.
