The worse movie i've seen in a while - in 3D!!!!
23 October 2009
To me, the Final Destination series has always been guilty entertainment. Blood and gore and cheap jumps. They have always been a decent teen horror series. Until now that is. The tagline says Death saved the best for 3D but it seems he save the worse for 3D.

One thing that has always made the death scenes great is the imagination that goes into them. But this had nothing. I think they spent to much time thinking of things that will fly out of the screen then thinking of good ways to kill the people off.

Don't get me wrong the 3D was great and did make me jump back in my seat. It was good 3D compared to some of the other 3D movies. But it didn't save the movie.

If you have watched a Final Destination movie before then you know the story and the concept. If your a fan you may like it but don't expect much. The gore and the 3D made this barely watchable and i was jumping in my seat when i saw the 3D trailer for Avatar before it. Go see it if it sounds alright to you but i hope you don't waste $19 like i did. I give The Final Destination...

The magic may have worn off in Order of the Phoenix but i don't remember it being so funny.
10 October 2009
The magic that made this series a family movie would have disappeared in Goblet of Fire when it got dark. But Harry Potter still has a little bit of magic still left in it. Half Blood Prince brings the story into full circle as we draw nearer to the massive finale of one of the biggest series in movie history.

The newest installment of the Harry Potter franchise is much different then the others. It had hints of a romantic comedy in there and the story is getting much darker. The Sub Plots of The Half Blood Prince felt like American Pie but the Harry Potter Version. Replacing drugs with potions and watching our favorite characters grow up is hilarious.

Like always the movie wasn't better then the novel but it was funnier and visuals were great. But compared to the book it wasn't good enough but as a stand alone Potter film it was fun and enjoyable. I recommend it if you like the series or you seen up to 5 and have come to far not to watch the rest of the series. I give Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince...

All jumps and explosions but no story
20 July 2009
This is a movie for the guys. Hot chicks, fast cars, big explosions, big stunts and big tuff men. But it's no movie for serious movie goers. No story, worthless sequel and just an excuse for a quick buck. Even though it had the same things the original had it didn't have the same effect. It was pretty much empty.

Even though the movie was bad it still had some awesome stunts. One of the only reasons this was watchable was the stunts. Everyone loves to see loud cars roaring through the air while a massive explosion burns behind them.

Back to where it started. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Michelle Rodriguez back together again. Another reason this was watchable. But they had to go ruin it by making a bad decision with one of the characters.

I recommend it if you like the series. It's really a hit or miss with this movie. A fan may find it better or worse then the previous movies. It should be decided on your own. I give Fast & Furious...

This movie is how i got the bullet hole in my head
18 July 2009
I have at least 10 other movies that i need to review. But this one seems to be easiest to write about before i go see another movie. Comedy has taken a turn for the worse. Thankfully there doesn't seem to be anymore Seltzer/Friedberg trash coming out anytime soon so i'm happy. Luckily there are comedies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall that keeps the comedy genre from dying.

Just like with every Seltzer/Friedberg movie there are jokes that just won't quit. They just go on and on. That is part of the movies problem. I only laughed a few times but that wasn't enough to save this movie. It's just as bad as the other's

1. Meet the Spartans

2. Disaster Movie

3. Date Movie

4. Epic Movie

Of course i don't recommend it. Hopefully this is the end of the Seltzer/Friedberg spoof movies but unfortunately i think there is more to come. May the movie god help us all. I give Disaster Movie...

The Proposal (I) (2009)

Just another romantic comedy
10 July 2009
The Proposal was just another romantic comedy. It was predictable but was funny at moments and romantic, it had two good performances from Bullock and Reynolds and had a interesting plot. But there were some moments that i just wanted to get out of there. But overall it was an alright movie.

This movie is obviously a girl's movie. I'm not one who goes for chick flicks. I just sit there and check my watch every few minutes and like always i was there checking my watch. But that doesn't mean you won't enjoy it. I'm the type of girl who likes movies like Goodfellas and The Dark Knight. So obviously this wasn't my type of movie.

Both leads were good. Sandra Bullock was alright. She started off as the character you hate but grows on you throughout the movie. It's hard for me not to like Ryan Reynolds since i'm a fan of him. He did a good job in this and if you like him check out some of his other movies. I recommend Just Friends.

I recommend you give it a try if your a girl who likes romantic comedies. It was good but lacked in areas. I give The Proposal...

It felt good to hear that theme music again. I enjoyed it. It was a good Terminator movie and a even better action movie.
7 June 2009
When walking into the cinema i was deeply worried. McG? the guy who directed Charlies Angels? They got someone like that to direct a Terminator movie? That was a very big risk. But luckily he pulled off a decent installment in one of the biggest movie franchise's of all time.

Terminator Salvation is missing some of the gems that made the other installments fun. Firstly no sense of humor. Secondly where's John Connor. He doesn't swear, he doesn't have attitude. Lastly, Hardly any violence. Which people would already know due to the American rating PG-13.

Luckily they got some things right. I loved the references to the old Terminator's. Made me feel at home. Also i loved the ending. Felt like classic Terminator style.

The biggest part of this movie is the war against the machines. What does that mean? Well it means action and lots of it. Explosions, car chases, guns, booms, bangs, kaboom. It never lets up in this movie but at the same time never goes over the top. The action scenes were great. Felt like a mix of classic Terminator and Transformers.

Before seeing this i felt like there would be no story just action scenes. The writers nicely put a story in that ties in with the first Terminator. Since the story ties in with previous Terminator movies you should see Terminator 1,2,3 just to be safe in the story area.

The Special Effects were amazing. Giant robots never looked so good. The acting was good and i liked the casting. From start to finish the movie is action with a great ending and a nice cameo. I felt relieved that the movie went out strong and was so happy to hear the old theme song again. Nice job Danny Elfman.

This was classic Terminator with a bit of new blood thrown in. It worked well and i would go see Terminator 5. There are some who will hate it but i just sat back and enjoyed the ride and so should you. I recommend it if your a Terminator fan. It was better then Terminator 3: Rise of the machines but it didn't match up to Terminator 2: Judgement Day. I give Terminator Salvation...

The Uninvited (2009)

Hollywood can still deliver a movie that scares.
30 May 2009
20 years ago, you could make a horror movie and scare many people. These days it's hard to find a horror movie that can even deliver one scream. The Uninvited is one of the best horror movies to come out in 2009 so far.

The Uninvited tells the tale of two sisters who are dealing with the death of there mother. The story may not seem like much. But it is a creepy story that keeps you guessing to the very end.

I recommend The Uninvited. It is entertaining and is kept aboard by the great twist and the film's three leading ladies. Go see it with some friends. It will make you jump, squirm and cover your eyes and the brilliantly filmed climax makes it worth the ticket price.

The Unborn (2009)

A fun horror movie to see with some friends.
29 May 2009
Any movie that has a poster with a attractive girl in her panties on it is a movie that shouldn't be taken seriously. The Unborn is a great movie for teenagers if they want a good scare with there friends. The story worked well and the scary scenes actually managed to creep me out. But if you want a scare that is meant for a audience higher then the teen crowd then see The Uninvited.

The acting is satisfying enough for you not to cringe while there trying to act scared. The Unborn actually takes time off the scares to tell a story which delivers something that other horror movies can't be bothered to put in there movies. Just like most of the horror movies out there, The Unborn relies on jump scares. What happened to the scares that stick with you after the film is over? One of the problems that the Unborn suffers from is the scares just happen and you don't give them a second thought.

There are two movies that people are seeing at the moment, The Unborn and The Uninvited. I have seen both and can tell you The Uninvited delivers on so many more levels. It is scary and has a great twist. The Unborn has the scares and a stable story but in the end The Uninvited is the way to go if you want a well made horror movie. I give The Unborn.....

It's time to return to camp crystal lake.
31 March 2009
I have never seen a Friday the 13th movie before. Then why did i watch this? Because of Jared Padalecki. I always fear seeing a horror movie. I don't like looking scared in front of my friends. But luckily Friday the 13th isn't scary at all. I got more scares watching The Unborn.

Even though Friday the 13th lacked the scares it still had the jump scenes and the gore that scares some people. Friday the 13th had no problem bringing us the stuff that every teen slasher movie has. Blood, stupid people and sex scenes. So don't go to see this movie expecting anything other then your typical teen slasher. The acting was better then your average horror movie.

I recommend it if you like slasher movies or you are a fan of the Friday the 13th series. I don't believe in remaking originals but who is gonna listen? It is far from the end of Michael Bays remake binge. Just sit back and enjoy the remake ride. It's just a bit of fun. I give Friday the 13th a solid.....

Saw V (2008)
7/10
Just watch it....you know you want to
28 March 2009
I never expected the Saw series to go this far but i'm glad that it is still going and is still worth watching. This Installment didn't feel like the usual Saw movie. Saw goes from a gross out series with twists and turns into a cat and mouse thriller.

I always fear seeing the next installment every year. I fear that the next one will be terrible and will ruin the whole series. Luckily this has not happened yet. Saw V wasn't the best Saw but it ranks nicely in third place in the series. Coming up behind Saw II and IV. This is my order...IV-II-V-I-III

Unlike the other sequels Saw V doesn't have blood and gore every 10 seconds. It is nicely set out apart. But when the blood and gore does come it is very graphic and makes the squeamish cringe in there seats. Saw I wasn't too big on the gore. Saw II took it to the next level and made the gorno fans cheer. Saw III took the fans need for blood and went way over the top. Saw IV went to the next level in blood but held out on the gore. Saw V showed us that the movie does not have to be blood and guts all the time to be good. None of the Saw movies ever scared me but this time i actually jumped for the first time in a Saw movie.

The acting was like every other Saw movie, Average and i don't expect it to ever reach Oscar worthy in a Saw movie. Tobin Bell was good like always. Costas Mandylor and Scott Patterson did good jobs also. I always know the plot of every Saw movie. It's always the usual, people get put in traps and have to get out alive. But there is always the main plot in every movie. After the events in Saw IV, Detective Hoffman goes on a hunt to eliminate all loose ends. Special Agent Strahm suspects Hoffman and goes on a hunt to find out his secret. This doesn't seem like it can fill up a whole 90 minutes but like always we get answers to questions from other movies through flashbacks. As well as new questions to keep you excited till the next installment.

The Saw series feels like a TV show. You just can't wait till the next episode to see what happens next. Saw V felt like a lead up to the big finale where all the Sh*t will hit the fan. I just hope Saw VI will wrap up the series in a major twist. If this doesn't happen then the entire series will feel like a waste of time. See Saw V if your a fan of the series. You know you want to. I'm counting down the days till Saw VI. But while i'm waiting i'll give you my rating....

Only just watchable
28 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Is this the biggest chick flick of all time? Jennifer Anniston, Jennifer Connelly, Drew Barrymore, Scarlet Johansson and Ginnifer Goodwin join forces to tell us why he is just not that into you.

This movie felt like it was made to make women paranoid. It describes every way he could be sending you signs or when he will break it off. Men if your listening you are taking a major risk if your planning on seeing this with a girl. It could turn into a great date movie or be a total disaster.

The stars felt like they were only in it to attract crowds. Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Connelly and Scarlet Johansson were the only women in this movie with a real role. Jennifer Anniston and Drew Barrymore felt like cameos not stars. The men in the movie did a great job. Justin Long felt like the charm of the movie. Bradley Cooper did a good job also.

There were a few funny moments but thats it. The rest is a manual on relationships. So if your seeing this with a special friend or a girlfriend/boyfriend i wish you luck. I enjoyed the ending though. It was sweet. I don't recommend He's Just Not That Into You.

Jaws (1975)
8/10
Classic
28 February 2009
I haven't seen Jaws since i was a kid. But i recently caught it on TV and i still love it. Jaws is pure Steven Spielberg. Exciting and original. There's nothing more exciting the hearing the theme music. The acting ain't bad either.

Jaws had people scared to go in the water. Jaws is still scary today. Seeing that pool of blood and short glimpses of the shark is chilling. The music and camera work just make it great. Things get even better at the end when it becomes 'Man vs. Beast' in a nail biting ending.

If you have never seen a Spielberg movie then you haven't seen many good movies. Spielberg is possibly the best director of all time. I just can't think how bad the cinematic world would have been if he never became a director.

Spielberg has made many great movies. From great family movies E.T., Jurassic Park. To great adventure Indiana Jones and Jaws.

I highly recommend this. The only problem i had with this was it got boring in the middle. But besides that Jaws is classic and will remain one for decades to come. One of Speilbergs best. This isn't just a monster movie. THIS IS Spielberg.

An Intense war thriller
27 February 2009
Tom Cruise in a Nazi uniform with a eye patch and no German accent? sounds like a average war movie but it was the best war movie i have seen this year. Valkyrie was mildly intense and plays well on the action and thrills but it was so hard to take this movie serious.

The story should interest many people. A group of Nazi's plot to kill Hitler and call the plot Valkyrie. I was mildly interested while watching the first half while all this unfolded but when it hit the second half i sat straight up and paid attention.

Valkyrie started off as a average war movie but was saved in the second half by its intense storyline and its good ending. The acting was OK and pace was great. I recommend it. Not a must see but it was worth watching even if you know how it ends. I give Valkyrie......

House of Wax (2005)

Just your typical teen horror slasher
22 February 2009
There is nothing new here. Sure the idea is new but it still has the usual bits of a teen slasher. It has the stupid characters, the blood and gore, a killer, cheap scares and a intense ending.

I was dreading seeing this because of Paris Hilton. She wasn't as bad as expected. I never intended to see this but i am a big fan of Jared Padalecki because i watch and love Supernatural so i watched it. I never expected to like this but i was surprised at how much i did. I expected to give this a 1/10.

Overall House of Wax is watchable thanks to its high level of gore, decent acting and intense ending that pays off with a twist. I loved when My Chemical Romance blasted into my ears with Helena in the end credits. I recommend this if you like teen horror movies that are not for wimpy teens like Prom Night. I give House of Wax a surprising......

Role Models (2008)
7/10
Funny and entertaining
12 February 2009
Just went with some friends to see this and it was funny and at times heartwarming. I laughed but found my self checking my watch towards the end with all the Dungeons and Dragons and LAIRE material.

The acting was good. Even though it doesn't really have to be in a comedy. Jane Lynch stole the entire show. She stole every scene she was in. Bobb'e J. Thompson was great as a foul mouth kid and Mclovin makes a very welcome to the screen.

I didn't think this was as funny as other comedies that have came out in the last few years like Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Knocked Up or 40 Year old Virgin. But Role Models is still funny in its own way. It was raunchy and crude.

During the last 10 minutes i felt like i was watching a Lord of the Rings spoof or Revenge of the Nerds in Middle Earth. That didn't fell like it belonged in a movie that is meant to be a crude adult comedy.

However despite the negatives Role Models was still funny and was worth seeing. All involved were funny and i recommend it. It is definitely a movie to see with some friends. I give Role Models...

Milk (I) (2008)
10/10
Pure Gold!!
10 February 2009
Harvey Milk returns to life through Sean Penn in a performance driven by the passion of an excellent actor. Not only was Sean Penn perfect but all involved were perfect. Milk ticks all the boxes of a amazing movie. Milk is inspiring, funny, intense, emotional, heartbreaking and it continues to be all these things but never goes over the top.

I had never heard of Harvey Milk. But then i heard of a movie called Milk. I thought it was about milk. But then i looked into it and saw that it was based on the life of the gay rights activist Harvey Milk. I'm not gay or anything but after watching this i was inspired and truly saw that Harvey Milk was a great person. Rest in Peace.

There is not one bad thing i can say about the acting. Penn was Great, Brolin was excellent and Franco was great. The supporting cast was all great also.

As soon as the movie begins we are hit with some history of gays in the 50's and 60's and Dianne Feinstein's heartbreaking and chilling announcement of 2 deaths in office. Throughout the film we see Milk recording his will on a tape recorder. Even though this was not a intentional sad moment it still was mildly heartbreaking.

I highly recommend Milk. It is the must see of 08. Maybe even more must see then The Dark Knight. It is in my top 3 of 2008. Milk was not sour milk at all. I give Milk......

Gran Torino (2008)

Loved it
9 February 2009
Gran Torino just adds to the great collection of movies that have come out this year. I'm only 15 so i haven't been able to enjoy Clint Eastwoods movies over the years. But after watching Gran Torino i know that he is a movie legend. I can't wait to see Changeling.

Gran Torino is wonderfully written, nicely directed and is made even better with its great cast.

This isn't a movie i would normally get sucked into. There is talking all through the movie. But it was so gripping and intense. But i felt the ending was too predictable and was too short. But it was still good.

Gran Torino is a movie that will be a classic in 50 years. I highly recommend it. Gran Torino is one of 2008's best movies.

The Happening (2008)
3/10
A terrible written empty and dull thriller
24 January 2009
I stopped expecting the next Sixth Sense a long time ago. The Happening is a dull and empty thriller. M Night Shymalan tries to get cheap shocks by showing graphic and violent suicides. Terrible Acting, No tension and no suspense makes this movie a miss.

Following the masterpiece that was The Sixth Sense M Night Shymalan made the good Unbreakable. In 2002 he made Signs. Signs had the thrills and the scares but was missing something. In 2004 we were sent to the Village where there were also scares and a great story. All were good movies until the Lady in the Water. I was overcome with Confusion and a headache. Now in the Happening there were no scares and no thrills. M Night Shymalan really seems to be loosing it.

The Happening is not worth seeing. I certainly hope that M Night Shymalan starts making good movies again. I will be seeing The Last Airbender and if it is as bad as this then i am gonna give up on Shymalan. I give The Happening.....

It was funny but it lacked the thunder.
24 January 2009
Tropic Thunder was funny, violent and totally offensive and for most of the movie it did work. It was funny but very overrated. There are great performances by all involved. This was one of those comedies where there are totally hilarious jokes and then there are totally painful jokes that belong on Date Movie or Epic Movie.

Was it just me or was this movie backwards? Tom Cruise was funny but Jack Black was not. Robert Downey Jr was hilarious but Ben Stiller was not. Isn't it suppose to be the other way around?

I do recommend it. Robert Downey Jr totally stole this show. If this doesn't seem like something you would enjoy then i recommend Forgetting Sarah Marshall or Yes Man. I give Tropic Thunder.....

Funny Movie
23 January 2009
A hilarious comedy produced by the guy who seems to be producing something every month, Judd Apatow. I liked it but i found myself almost falling to sleep in some scenes because it suffers badly from pace issues.

Again Seth Rogen done a good job. Seth Rogen plays Dale Denton, a 25 year old process server who witnesses a murder committed by two cops. James Franco done a awesome job. I never expected anything from him after seeing Spider-Man but he really is a good actor. James Franco plays Saul Silver, a drug dealer who goes on the run with Dale after the corrupt cops identify the pot called Pineapple Express.

I do recommend it but the pace issues do ruin some of the movie. It wasn't as good as some of Judd Apatow's other movies but it wasn't the worse. The movie is funny and it has a awesome ending. I give Pineapple Express....

Igor (2008)

Average
20 January 2009
Igor felt like a Tim Burton film. It had the same Gothic feel and same kind of humor. But it didn't have the same charm. I laughed a few times but the Annie references and musical numbers totally ruined the movie for me.

If you see this with the kids don't expect the cute characters with the fuzzy fur. John Cusack voices Igor, the hunchback who wants to a evil scientist. Steve Buscemi voices Scamper, the suicidal Bunny who can't commit suicide. Sean Hayes as Brain, Igor's invention who is not so smart. This movie seems like a horror movie for kids.

I don't recommend Igor. It could have been one of the best animated movies of the year but it just didn't have the charm or spark. It had good animation, good voice acting and a good story but it just didn't work. I give Igor....

Twilight (I) (2008)
8/10
I'm glad i saw it!!!
18 January 2009
This is a review from someone who has NOT read the novel.

I enjoyed it. All the girls my age seem to be in love with the new phenomenon that has had the teenage audience filling the cinema. So i thought i would give it a chance and i'm glad i did. I recommend that everyone fall in love with the teen movie that has strong performances and a climax that had me on the edge of my seat.

Ex Potter star Robert Pattinson leads the cast as the Vampire who falls in love with a human. After a shaky start Pattinson settles into a performance that he plays extremely well. Pattinson has great chemistry with the films leading lady. Kristen Stewart gives a performance that is just as good as Pattinsons. All together Twilight has a great cast. I can't wait to see the wonderful cast return in New Moon.

A very weak part which the filmmakers seemed to have trouble with was the visual effects. Pattinsons exposed vampire skin in the sun light looked weird and some of the other effects could have been better.

The Twilight series is already better then Potter and i hope it continues that way. If you are a teenager then you might enjoy this movie. Even though the series ending has been ruined for me by my friend i will still be in the front row for New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn when they are released. Twilight will have you saying Harry who?

Marley & Me (2008)

A movie that will make you laugh and cry.
11 January 2009
Maybe this should have been called 'What to expect when your expecting a dog'. This movie was funny, cute, romantic and at times completely heart breaking. Based on the newspaper column, Marley & me is a funny movie that Tuggs at the heartstrings but there isn't much more.

This movie is a dog movie and that is exactly what you get. If you enjoy watching dogs create mischief then Marley & Me is for you. But this movie doesn't just offer naughty dogs. It has a little love story on the side.

This movie is extremely realistic. It shows what happens when you get a dog. It shows the changes that a dog can cause and it shows the emotional part of having a dog.

I recommend it. But don't expect the best movie of the year. All you will get is a nice comedy that only works on the first viewing. Be prepared for this movie to take a while. It runs at 111 minutes which can get a bit boring. I give Marley & Me.....

Fight Club (1999)

An American Classic!!!!
10 January 2009
If this is your first time at Fight Club then you probably won't like this. Like me i didn't like it the first time but on my second viewing i noticed how unique(and completely insane)this movie really is. This is one of David Fincher's best movies.

This movie has one of the best casts ever. Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter. Three of the best actors/actress out there today.

David Fincher. If you ever see these 2 words on a movie then you will know that you will get quality. Fight Club, Seven and just this year The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Fincher has proved himself one of the best directors today.

I highly recommend it. Watching Tyler Durden(one of the best characters ever) rule the screen was one of the best moments i had watching this movie. If you haven't seen this movie then you shouldn't be sitting at your computer.

Kung Fu Panda is fun family entertainment!!!
3 January 2009
This is Dreamworks best movie to date. Dreamworks still can't measure up to quality of Pixar. As always i always dread seeing 3D animated movies. But this came out on 2nd place as the best animated movie of the year. The first is Wall-E.

This is Jack Blacks best film and he is hilarious in it. The animation was great and the Kung Fu scenes blew me away. Finally there is a movie(that was not made by Pixar) that has all the things you need to make the entire movie good.

This is fun from beginning to end. Lets hope Dreamworks makes more good animated movies. This is in the top 30 of my favorite movies of 2008. I give Kung Fu Panda a solid....
