October Sonata Before Sunset
14 January 2023
Be prepared for a different love story!

Can make a parallel with the 'Before Sunset (2004) but the cinematography is different and goes to higher levels.

Still you will get nice décor and settings throughout a tumultuous historic period in the Thai history.

The nature plays it's role into making the love story more romantic and it's another proof of the cinematographic achievement.

Actors are convincing in their performance and even if the plot might get you into 'no way', their efforts make everything credible.

Overall the viewer has a chance to find out informations about the Thai history and habits as well as being entertained into a deep feelings connection.

Burn Out (I) (2017)

European action
19 October 2018
If this will be american, probably would have raised more voices, a higher interest and for sure more votes even on this website! This could say a lot about how much marketing is doing for a film vs the real product. Thoroughly enjoyable to watch, with thrilling moments but displayed somehow into a realistic way which is not so often seen nowadays. I definitely recommended it for who's looking after a high-pace action movie, with well structured dialogue and generally with no cliches.

Silent Venom (2009 Video)

Silent waste of time
29 October 2016
As someone said previously, Krista Allen could be the only justified reason that you'll find after watching this film. I understand the idea behind the script, but the delivered scenario was a complete failure, starting from the attitude and the actions of Krista Allen's assistant and carry on with the imminent danger and attack of a foreign enemy. ... Of course, despite having all the modern technologies on their side, it was not possible for the Asian enemy to stop a museum submarine, but hell, you need more than this and some snakes against a schoolboys crew. Acting? Non-existent. Special effects are laughable, if the case, the highlight being the big snakes rolling down submarine's corridors. Krista Allen wasn't convincing as a scientist and neither her qualities haven't been well reflected by a too static role.

Catch Hell (2014)

Catch to watch

Wondering how come this has under 2k voters in over 4 months since the release.

Maybe the script is not something new, but this is the case with almost everything nowadays. However, the way how the things are presented and the acting level is notable.

The situation is simple and one young actor is trapped into a scam for doing a new film, things ending up with him being a prisoner. But from an initial ignorance and the 'stars attitude' he is going to transform himself and to experience a new reality, of being afraid, insecure, hurt and even losing his 'image' for the outside world.

Ryan Phillippe is putting a great effort in impersonating all these emotions, while on the dark side, you will get a good acting level from both kidnappers.

Commando (1985)

We fight for...
15 December 2014
I saw this first time when I was a kid and at that moment was one the my favorite films. And what could you ask more than almost non-stop action, a hero who's able to fight with his bare hands, to use the knife, expert in shooting, proved car driver, pilot or sailor.... so everything for that age.

I wasn't the only admirer of this, as outside, all the kids had their favorite moments and of course, trying to be like Arnold.

Even when I went in a school camp, this film was aired daily. Don't know if it was due to the fact that you could count the total number of available movies on your fingers or only because almost all the boys there were familiar with Commando.

Since then, I had the chance to see it a couple of times more, mainly on TV, and haven't changed my mind. Yes, you have some scenes that could be considered as amateurish, like the one when Matrix is jumping from the plane in that swamp and he starts to run completely dried! But in this film everything is developing into a fast sequence so you don't don't have time for tinny details, the only thing that matters being the rescue mission.

Inspirational
2 October 2014
I would say that this film should be viewed in school because Edison was a great example not necessarily as an inventor but as a man who doesn't stop believing in his ideas, intuition and inspiration, a true role model of nowadays.

Spencer Tracy was great also, showing the passion in every scene where Edison was thinking and working to put in practice his ideas. Somehow I understand why in real life he stopped believing in the meaning of Oscars, after this picture had only one nomination. And why he shouldn't? The film was the story of one of the greatest inventors of this planet, and he tried to show in his role that Edison, by all of his actions, wasn't after his own interest, but after the progress of our society.

Gravity (2013)

Overrated gravity
7 June 2014
A couple of months after the Oscar, I still can't believe it how this film managed to get 7 statues!?! Also the fact that Sandra Bullock was nominated for her role is shocking. Good that nowadays not everyone is taking Oscars as a reference.

The plot is so poor and all this Sci-Fi part is based only on the fact that the action is in space.

The so called performance of Sandra Bullock is dreadful. Being a novice, her role is stuffed with lines aiming to be funny, along with similar situations when she's building her plan. The maximum is when she's hitting randomly the buttons of the space shuttle trying to start the engine. Overall she was unconvincing and considering how this part was created I was more than surprised when she was nominated.

I would say that Gravity was a big deception and is one of the most overrated films in recent time.

Withe House Dumb
15 March 2014
Can't believe it how this one is rated over 6. You don't have any options with -, but for sure this should be in that negative rating.

I can't talk about a plot as here you have just some aspects that are not related with logic or even with common sense. You can't skip all the dumb ideas and focus on the action scenes, because you'll be annoyed right away as some character has a line to say.

Of course, you'll be served outrageous clichés, like the composure of a 'brilliant' small kid, that in the end is going to wave the US flag signaling the defeat of evil. And don't need to mention that the president is black.

Don't know if it's the case to write more about this, as the overall conclusion is RUBBISH!

Definitely this is not a bad film
10 October 2013
I was curious about how this film is and I must say that I'm happy that I've allocated the time to watch it.

I must reckon that Dolph Lundgren was one of the reasons which lead me to this. I've seen recently a few new films with some 'action- colleagues' that aren't anymore in their first youth and I must say that Lundgren is still in a good shape. And the film helped him.

He's somehow involved in all the events as an observer, but he keeps himself away of the things... and when he's in everything is developing in a fast sequence.

Considering the budget I think that they've done a good job that deserves some credit.

The plot is quite full of suspense and the way on how everything is told is quite attractive. You have action, situations that don't look as you would think and a few sex scenes.

As a conclusion, a very pleasant action film.

Don't jump to see this

This wasn't quite what I was expecting. I thought that the script is more focused on this teleportation abilities, but in fact this is just a reason to outline 'the old story' between bad and good.

The lines are in some cases really stupid and I had the sensation that they are talking just because the writers were informed that is happening in movies.

Beside this, if you are a fan of special effects you can have a go on this, as there are a few moments full with this.

As a conclusion this was one of the worst Sci-Fi-related films that I've seen it.

This hasn't anything in common with sf
10 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This hasn't anything in common with sf, except if you are a fan of shooting in aliens and their ships. Apart from that it's a crap.

Some good movies were made in recent times, with new ideas, mystery and even action, all of this compiled in sf genre, but this is out of classification. Think that this is the only sci-fi thing about this one, you can't say it: it's a sf.

The plot is poor. Aliens are attacking Earth, but in the middle of their bombardments, a military company is ordered to go in the middle of LA to rescue some civilians!!!! They will use this word almost in every line, even if those civilians were a woman, a man and some children's...

How can you go to save less than 10 people, when already millions were killed and your entire civilization is in danger to be liquidated?! So if you want a shooter it's OK to see it, but if you want a real sf, just move to something else.

Too bad for Charlize to be involved in such a movie
25 September 2010
One of the worst movies I've seen.

A stupid story and the same typical things for a case of kidnapping.

Just because Charlize Theron has a role here, the producers have tried to use her sex-appeal and she will be involved in some hot scenes, but more as a teasing because, well, somehow the kidnapper has a weak part.

One of the most shocking aspects of this film is the presence of a lethargic father at the beginning, but as the events are progressing he is becoming even more capable than James Bond.

And from this point you can imagine what will happen with the 'poor' kidnappers.
